Skylar and Tucker's story is another great addition to the series. I loved their story I read it in just one sitting. I loved both of them, my heart broke for these two. They went through a lot, I kind of get why they're so reluctant to really have things they never thought they could ever have. I absolutely loved how this story is not just about their romance but also about friendships. I loved that Tucker's friends take Skylar into their fold and always include her. I think they're so amazing for doing that and it's just what Skylar needs after losing her best friend and not to feel lonely anymore. I loved how Tucker and Skylar learn to move on together. I just loved this story that's full of love and heart.

This is book five in the Dare with Me series. It can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, it is set in the fictional town of Diamond Creek, Alaska. Readers who have read more books by this author will recognize recurring secondary characters in this story from other books.
Skylar is fairly new to the small town and making a fresh start in a way she never anticipated. She has had a difficult life full of fear and loss, and she has scars from that. Tucker is one of the pilots who flies small planes for Walker Aviation. He was in the air force with Flynn and some of the other guys. He learned at a young age that life is not fair, so he resists relationships in an effort to avoid hurt.
Their romance moves slowly at first as they each deal with their fears. There is an undeniable physical attraction between the characters that results in heated scenes. I love how they each grow and process their losses through the course of the book. Then they come out more complete on the other side. Once they are finally in a place where they can each move forward, they can accept the love that is possible between them. This was an emotional book as the characters process grief, loss, and fears on the way to their HEA. It makes their happy ending that much sweeter.

4.5 star review Take Me There (Dare With Me #5) by J H Croix

Having read a number of books by J.H. Croix I could not wait to read Take Me There. I love stories set in small towns and this book ticked the boxes for me. I could easily visualize Diamond Creek, Alaska and found the story to be well written and entertaining.
This is Tucker and Skylar’s story and I was a great addition to the Dare with Me series. The chemistry that sizzles between them is hard to ignore and Tucker is totally swoon worthy and I loved everything about him, especially his caring support of Skylar and it was entertaining as they opened up to one another and their relationship blossomed.
Having loved and lost before, Tucker had no intention of falling in love again but he didn’t count on the attraction and feelings he has for Skye. This is a heart warming story of love and romance and one that I thoroughly enjoyed and left me with a smile on my face.

I just love reading JH Croix’s stories. Such great characters and the storylines are incredible. I feel like by the time I finish every book that I actually know these fictional people because they are written so well.
Tucker and Skylar are honestly meant for each other. Both have had something horrible happen in their lives and it does definitely shape them into the people that they are now. And I think they subconsciously recognize that in each other. They seem to be drawn to one another even though they tell themselves a relationship isn’t what either of them want.
Them finally coming together wasn’t smooth sailing at all, but how their story finishes was truly beautiful to read. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

4,5 Stars for Take Me The ( Dare With Me #5)
If you love small town romance look no further than this gem. Let’s be honest who’s not going to love a town called Diamond Falls in Alaska. I was hooked from the first few pages of Tucker and Skylar’s story and there was no putting down until the final line had been read.
Tucker is not looking for love, having loved and lost before he is not looking for a relationship but that was before he met and fell for Skylar and what follows is a heartwarming, well written, entertaining romance that will appeal to a wide range of audiences.
The chemistry this couple share is sizzling, the banter is witty but it was the support Tucker showed for Skylar that took this book to another level. Take Me There is a great addition to the series.

I loved Skylar and Tucker and watching them find their way together. Theirs is an emotional journey as neither think they are ready to take that step of finding something serious and lasting but ready or not, it's here. They have some obstacles to overcome and things to figure out as we watch them build a relationship and come together. They just fit, even when they want to keep things light and not serious, they just can't help it. I really enjoyed this story and it was great getting to see their friends support them (and of course seeing them again) and watching them make the decisions that they needed to. This was a great read and I can't wait to see what's next in the series.

I loved getting to go back to one of my favorite Alaskan towns, Diamond Creek! Take Me There was Croix’s latest addition to her Dare With Me series. It can be read as a stand-alone but I suggest reading them all! It was fun, sweet, and swoony.

Skylar was on her own in a new town. She wasn’t the best at making friends but luckily, a group of friends found her. As she navigated her way through her new life, she found herself falling for Tucker but could she really chance a relationship?

Tucker loved being in Alaska flying planes for a living. He thought he was content with how his life was until he met Skylar. She had him wanting more but could he ever get past the loss of his first love?

These two were so sweet together! Loved getting to see both of them figure everything out! Croix’s books are always a great way to to loose yourself within her great worlds!

Skylar’s past has been difficult, but she always had her best friend by her side until she didn’t. She has moved to Alaska looking for a new beginning where she has a job she loves and has been embraced by the community, but she worries that it is too good to true especially when it comes to Tucker.

Tucker has been hurt by love in the past and he doesn’t ever want to feel that pain again however there is something about Skylar that draws him in. Despite his reservations he wants to pursue a relationship with her to see what they could have together and now he needs to convince her.

Skylar and Tucker take us on an emotional journey as whether they are ready or not the feelings between them are undeniable which causes a little turmoil, but they are surrounded by a great group of friends who help them find their way.

Take Me There is the 5th book in the Dare With Me series by J.H. Croix. This was actually the first book of this series that I have read and it stand decently on it's own as a complete stand alone of the series. Previous characters were a big part in this story but enough background information on everyone was given that I don't feel like I'm entering into a story mid-conversation, though I may still go back and read some of the previous books.

Tucker and Skyler's story tugged at my heart. They both had great losses and baggage that kept them each from wanting to pursue any kind of romantic relationships- but the pull between them was just too great to ignore. Skyler, though she kept to herself pretty well, was really sweet and shy but also weary of making friends or any kind of changes in her life. She had a rough life and the effects of her experiences still plagued her actions all the years later. While Tucker definitely didn't have as much baggage as Skyler and was generally a kind and loyal guy that everyone loved, he also kind of kept to himself some and guarded his heart fiercely.

This story hits a bit heavy, there is a lot of trauma and heartbreak that shaped these two, but aside from that there are some great moments of friendship, humor and heat. I love how awkward Skylar and Tucker get around each other when they are first just crushing on each other. It's sweet and silly and just adds a level of lightness that is needed at times. I adore all the women in this small town- many of whom have stories already in this series- and how quickly they adopt Skylar in as one of their own helping to break her out of her shell and self induced solitude.

There were some moments that I felt like the story and inner monologue of the characters got a little repetitive. I know it was done to really drive home the ideas and issues that the characters were dealing with so it had it's purpose and makes sense just felt a little deja vu-ish to me as I was reading.

Overall, Tucker and Skylar had a sweet story and now I have a few more books added to my ever growing TBR!

Take Me There by J H Croix is the latest in her Dare With Me series that takes place in Diamond Creek, Alaska. Tucker is a pilot working for Flynn and living on premise. Skylar works in the Diamond Creek Transport office. In fact she was the only employee working along side the two owners. Basically it was the communications hub for the plethora of small planes in and out of Diamond Creek, as well as acting as the port of goods in and out. Skylar had been a foster kid and when she aged out she lived with her best friend, who had really been the driving force in the Alaska move. When she died, Skylar called on her courage: the apartment was already rented, she had a job, she would go. She had little experience with strong emotions, or really emotions of any kind, and that worked for her. Tyler had been in love in high school but she had died of cancer. That pain was not for him and the best way to avoid it was to avoid entanglements. It was really about two lost souls who find one another.

This was a beautifully written book, full of all kinds of emotions between two people who didn't know adult love and resented other people getting involved in their lives, even if were friends. Diamond Creek is the perfect place to fall in love; many people have. Skylar flew for the first time with Tucker and the reader could feel her turmoil and fear. The reader could also feel the lessening of these emotions as they melt into happiness. Croix does a brilliant job of bring the kinds of problems people have into her novels. They become so much more readable when they are relatable. She writes a wonderful story, and Take Me There is no exception. It is also great to run into people from previous books and see where they are going in their lives. It's like going home.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Take Me There by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #jhcroix #takemethere #darewithme

I love sweet romances that leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy. J.H. Croix does just that with Take Me There. In thus strangers to lovers romance we are introduced to Skylsr and Tucker. Both have lost people they loved but ar different times in their lives. They find one another and their relationship is just what each other needs.

Skylar has a hard life, going from foster home to foster home. The only good thing that happened is she found another girl who ended up as her best friend, Emily, her only family. Unfortunately Emily died just as they were about to start a new life in Alaska. Will Skylar be able to make it in Alaska, not knowing anyone and being on her own? She has learned not to get close to people or rely on them. She works at the local small airport and has eyes for Tucker, one of the pilots. The only problem is he doesn't know she exists. When he does pay attention to her what will she do? Will Skylar let him in? What happens when she gets close to everyone one? Can she let herself have fun and fall in love?

Tucker has had great life and family. As a retired Airforce pilot, he loves his job and friends. He has never wanted a relationship because he lost the one girl he ever loved, his high school sweetheart at 17. When he meets Skylar he is drawn to her. Will he let his heart love again? Will his friends yelling him that he deserves to be happy.

I thoroughly loved Skylar and Tucker's story. The way that Tucker cared for Skykar was sweet. Even though he said he would never live again, he was the perfect gentleman. Yes they has a sexual attraction but there was so.much more.

J.H. Croix gave us an emotionally gripping story that was also beautifully written. I suggest adding this book to your TBR list.

Skylar has experienced her fair share of hurt, and because of it she has become quite guarded, and keeps those around her at a distance. She just cannot get too attached to someone again and put her heart at risk, it's barely beating after her last round with love.

Moving to Diamond Creek, Alaska was supposed to be her taking her first steps toward a new beginning, and so far the risk has been worth it. It's given her the solace she craves, a new view without any reminders of home, and it's about to give her something else... a chance at love. But is she up for the challenge?

Take Me There is a beautifully penned story of new beginnings, facing fears, finding love, and healing. These two were so adamant about not letting love in, they had both dealt with it in the past and things didn't end on a happy note. They both carry heavy scars from their pasts and are wary of one another when they meet, but there's an undeniable connection between them that cannot be ignored. Everything in them is telling them to push the other away, but with each meeting that connection just deepens and draws them closer. It's a slow, torturous wait, but totally worth it!

There wasn't a moment about this one that I didn't love, it was a natural feeling and perfectly paced fall. I enjoyed watching them face their fears, heal one another, and find that happily ever after they both desperately deserved... it was such a well written and captivating love story! Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Gosh, J.H. Croix works her magic and makes me cry again.. this time for Skylar. She has been through a lot but she is strong and brave. I don't even know if I were in her shoes, how I can move on with my life. Tucker is a good guy but I don't know much about him even if I read all the books in the series. Well, I know now after I read this book why he keeps it to himself most of the time. Both Tucker and Skylar have their own baggages so their love story is emotional, intense, and angsty. But they have chemistry and aside from they are attracted to each other, I think they start their relationship as friends then turn to lovers. The way Tucker approaches Skylar is quite sweet and endearing even if he needs a little push from his friends. The story is well written and still makes me fascinating about Alaska. And I have all feelings while I'm reading it. My heart breaks for Skylar when she doubts about everything. I cry for her life, her loss, and her love. I swoon over Tucker when he pursues Skylar. Yet I want to scream and strangle him when he accidentally makes her feel insecure. I keep reading and can't put it down because I want to reach when Tucker finally comes to his sense and Skylar finally gets her happy ending which I'm not disappointed. If you love reading an angsty and steamy small town romance with a close-knit group of friends, this series is a must read and it's getting better and better.

Take Me There is a standalone read with a happy ending. There are some sexy scenes and colorful language if that is an issue for you. It is back to Diamond Creek, Alaska for Tucker and Skylar's love story. It is a great, entertaining read and I definitely recommend it.

Tucker, 32 an ex-Air Force pilot now flies a small plane for the lodge. One of his crew buddies took over running the lodge and the rest of the crew followed to take over flying the planes. They take tourist to remote spots as well as delivering some goods. Tucker is a bachelor living in one of the cabins at the lodge. He meets Skylar at the airport.

Skylar, a foster system child, aged out with her best friend. They have the scars to show for their time in foster care. When her best friend suddenly passes away, Skylar comes to Alaska by herself determined to live out their dream of starting a new life in Alaska. She works at the airport keeping track of the planes in the air and their schedules. The pilots know her voice but only a few actually know her. She meets Tucker and a friendship is formed. Theirs is a great love story. I definitely recommend reading it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 4/19/2022.

This is book five in The Dare With Me Series and it is Skylar and Tucker's story and omg it is definitely a must read. Skylar and Tucker had instant and intense chemistry right from the start but they have both suffered so much in there lives and they both had baggage and trust issue's and they had bulky wall's around x them so high that it would take someone or something special to make them fall and let someone in but will it be each other as they have both decided not to ever fall in love after suffering in the past. This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions and had me in tears but I still couldn't put this book down and read it in one sitting until the early hours of the morning as it was a real page turner and so addictive and kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what would happen next and even though I loved the outcome of this story I didn't want it to end as it was so good with an engaging storyline that pulled you in right from the start and I can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series. J H Croix is an amazing author and writer and her book's are definitely worth reading as she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention throughout the whole book.

I love these Walker Adventure stories set in Diamond Creek, Alaska. They revolve around Flynn who had to leave the U.S.Air Force when his mother died to care for his half-siblings, Grant, Nora, and Cat. It didn't take long before he also had his four AF pals, Elias, Diego, Turner, and Gabriel, flying small planes of cargo and tourists across Kachemak Bay and beyond to towns without roads. This is Turner's romance with Skyler, who works with Ludie and Dan at the air transport place controlling flights in and out of the small airport where Walker has its hangars. It was so good to have pregnant Cammi, Elias' love, there with her Red Truck Cofee, and Daphne, Flynn's love, serving staff dinners at the lodge and issuing invites to Gemma's (Diego's love) free Yoga classes to the new-comer Skylar! What a blessing for Skylar, who never had her own family, to fall in love with this large family after her own best friend died. But her background in the foster care system makes it hard for her to trust or rely on others. Turner himself is a quiet guy, a loner outside his pilot friends. He protects himself from falling in love again after his high school sweetheart died. But these two have to figure out how much they have in common and with the help of all around who care for them they do!

Skylar's experiences growing up in foster care have shaped her insecurities and trust issues, but she always had her best friend, Emily, by her side. When Emily dies, Skylar goes ahead with their plans to move to Alaska. Skylar finds a jobs she loves but remains shy and reserved. Tucker is a former pilot in the military who came to Alaska to join his friends in Flynn's charter flight business. Tucker knows first hand what it is like to lose someone you love and never wants to feel that pain again. Sparks fly between Tucker and Skylar, and both agree to keep it casual between them. What happens when casual turns into something more? Can Tucker and Skylar move past their issues to find their happily ever after? Will letters from the past change Tucker and Skylar's outlook about their future? I absolutely loved Take Me There by J.H. Croix! Tucker and Skylar are a great couple who have amazing chemistry. Take Me There is an emotional roller coaster ride with Tucker and Skylar's friends helping them navigate their new feelings and helping them deal with their pasts. I would highly recommend getting Take Me There by J.H. Croix and the other books in the Dare With Me series. What a gut-wrenching story for both characters. Tucker and Skylar no what pain and loss is, and it had made them both skid dish when it comes to relationships but, their overwhelming attraction for one another had them both risking their hearts.

Skylar was a loveable character she tried to be strong but, she let herself be vulnerable, and we loved the fact she was taking chances with life once again with love and friendships.

Tucker was just a sweetheart, he was caring and kind and even though he may have seemed a bit close off, he was not letting his chance of happiness get away from him.

Loved the emotional ups and downs of the story, and how this couple moved at their own pace to get to the conclusions they were meant to be together.

The characters were great, and we enjoyed them immensely. The story had a slow burn kind of vibe until the character caught fire and there was no turning back. A nice and easy read to pass the time, read the story in one sitting. Loved those special touches, the author added, to help the characters come to the conclusion that they were fated for one other.

One lost love in high school and the other trusts no one.

Another sweet romance.

So what happens when someone who doesn't trust people and someone who has lost faith in life are thrown together? This is a fun read to find out.

Tucker lost the girl he loved in high school and has always believed that he would have been better if he had never loved at all. When he catches Skylar by her car crying he only wants to help her. It starts out that he is told to invite Skylar to the staff night dinner and that is when it starts to get complicated for him.

Skylar grew up in foster care and the only person she thought of as family died right before moving to Alaska. Skylar has kept to herself and doesn't understand how so many people know who she is. She has been in Alaska for about a year and the few people that she has met start to invite her to hang out with them. Because she is trying to be more outgoing she starts to except the invitations. Just as she feels like she might be making friends Tucker goes and kisses her and it scares her. She has always made bad decisions with men and she doesn't want her life complicated.

Seriously…take me there to this place in Alaska where great friends make a family and an unbreakable bond. Tucker is the strong silent type, he has his past which has jaded him in love. Skylar is no different when it comes to jaded pasts, they both have their demons they have to learn to deal with if they will ever have a chance of making something long and lasting between them….can they heal each other and banish the others demons??
Another great read that will make you want to take a trip to Alaska and find this small town and their residents, hoping to make into their circle of friends. I loved these two, their struggles and how their friends help them, offering advice or just lending an ear. The story flowed beautifully and these two will melt your heart, there may be even a few tears here and there when their past comes forward to their present after many years. Add in the steam, heartache and heartbreak, love, amazing characters and the bonus epilogue….hard to put down and I loved it!!

Tucker Harrison works with his former Air force buddies at Walker Adventures Resort handling chartered flights for tourists as well as handling cargo and mail delivery to surrounding areas in Alaska. While in the air he often hears the sweet voice of Skylar Bridges who handles the radio calls/ communications for the small planes in the air.

Tucker doesn’t know much about Skylar since she just recently moved to Diamond Creek, Alaska alone but, she has definitely gotten his attention. Usually Tucker is extremely private and determined to stay away from love and relationships since his high school girlfriend passed away from Cancer. But, Skylar unexpectedly starts breaking down all his walls. They both have some past baggage keeping them from moving forward that is until some unexpected letters help when they need a little push forward.

Second chance at love romance, fresh start, building friendships/ family, and wonderful characters. Another great read that is set in Alaska. I received an ARC from Bad Boy Update and this is my review.

Learning To Trust

As usual, this was a very well written story from one of my favorite authors. This was a story about two people, who carried a great deal of baggage with them. Learning to navigate their lives while running form their futures. Tucker is an accomplished pilot, not willing to give love a try again after a devastating loss. Skylar spent most of her life in foster care, aging out with her best friend Emily. When Emily dies, Skylar must decide if she is capable of moving on without her & whether Alaska holds her future. There are appearences by the usual suspects, pushing their friends towards yet another HEA, by being their nosy selves! This story has sexy heat, chemistry, a touch of angst, letters from the past & lots of tears, but it was oh so good! Check out this story & any others in the series that you can, they are all interconnected in some way! Enjoy!

Both Tucker and Skylar have loved ones died on them in the past. Skylar moves to Alaska alone after her best friend died. Tucker’s high school girlfriend died before their high school graduation. After those incidents, they both built walls around their hearts to avoid relationship. Life has different ideas. Love happens when they don’t intend to. I love the slow-burn romance. It takes patience and caring to avoid hurting. There is no villain, just friends in this story. Their friends go out of their way to help and make sure they are not alone to deal with sadness. The letters from the dead are the real tear-jerkers. It helps to have friends you trust to talk about it. Food and coffee take the center stage when these friends get together. Yum! I love the food, coffee, and drinks. I love Alaska as the backdrop.

I loved my visit back to Diamond Creek, Alaska with Skylar and Tucker in the cockpit. Tucker was so smitten with Skylar from the first meeting. He was amazingly patient and cognizant of Skylar's hang ups. Skylar was starting over in a brand new place without her best friend. As much as she wanted to keep to herself and stay in the shadows, the other inhabitants of Diamond Creek whom we've shared HEAs with made that difficult. They are easy to welcome new people into the fold and make them feel like a part of their family from the get-go. Even though Skylar was skittish around Tucker, she took a leap of faith in trusting him with her story and her heart. These two were so perfect together! They've taken the lemon experiences they've had individually and made great lemonade together.

This was the fourth book in the Dare With Me series but could easily be read as a stand-alone. It was well written, and the pacing was perfect. I have enjoyed this series and was excitedly looking forward to this book.
Skyler Bridges grew up bouncing around in the foster care system with her best friend Emily. They had planned to move to Diamond Creek, Alaska for a new life, but Emily died before they moved. Emily insisted Skyler continue with their plan, so Skyler moved and is trying to deal with her grief. Her anxiety has always kept her from making friends and she avoided relationships because of her abandonment problems. The women of Diamond Creek welcomed her and did not let her shyness deter them.
Tucker Harrison moved to Diamond Creek to help his best friend from the Air Force when he needed more pilots for his family business. Tucker only did casual relationships after losing his high school love to cancer. He never wanted to risk losing someone he loved again and feeling that pain. He thought he could keep things casual with Skyler, but she had a way of wedging into the cracks in his heart.
Skyler and Tucker had many issues to face before they found happiness. They both had lost loved ones and their faith in love. Skyler had a hard time trusting so seeing her open herself to Tucker and growing was great. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who likes small town and second chance romances. I look forward to future books from the author.

I love reading this author, she gets to my emotions with her real-life storylines. She can take two people who are a little broken, smooth out the edges with her words, and have us smiling at the end. We are back in Diamond Creek for Tucker and Skylar’s story.

Skylar is special, she has not had an easy path, but she has made a good life for herself. Many things have not gone to plan; even with her struggles, her success results from her hard work. Tucker has had his share of heartache but now is very happy flying in Alaska for Walker Adventures.

As part of the healing process, a friendship is formed. While neither is looking for love or romance, it has found them. With the love and support of friends and family they chose, will they find happiness together?

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

This is a brilliant emotional addition to this series.
Both Tucker and Skylar have lost someone special to them and are intent on keeping far away from love but what happens when love finds them.
Tuckers high school love died young and he had given up on love but when Skylar moves to Diamond Creek he can't seem to stay away from her.
Skylar had a hard childhood in foster care but always had her friend Emily with her so when Emily died just before they were set to leave for Alaska she knew that she had to do it for both of them.
Will they give into the love in front of them or try to push it away.
So much emotion and plenty of drama but can they get their HEA.
I loved the ending.

I love all of J. H. Croix's books but I have to say this story hit close to my heart and Tucker and Skyler are now my favorite couple by far. Both have suffered a loss that changes their path in life and brings them to the same place. Together they heal each other with their patience and slow burn trying to cross the obstacles in their life. Is it truly "Better to have loved and lost, than not loved at all"? The characters are so real to life and the description of Alaska can take your breath away. A MUST READ!!! His/her POV, emotional roller-coaster, no cliffhanger and a HEA and bonus story that'll bring tears of happiness to your eyes. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and happily purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Can't wait for the J. H. Croix story.
