Led by legendary head coach Pat Casey, Oregon State University was the story of the college baseball universe in 2017 and 2018. The record-breaking 2017 Beavers fell short of a College World Series title, and the 2018 team was determined to finish the job.
Bob Lundeberg closely covered both action-packed seasons for the Corvallis Gazette-Times and was inspired to write Finish, his first book. Drawing upon over 40 interviews with players and staff members, Lundeberg tells the story of Oregon State’s extraordinary two-year run on the diamond. Relive all the dramatic twists and turns with Trevor Larnach, Nick Madrigal, Adley Rutschman, and many others.
It was great from start to Finish. (Pun absolutely intended). But actually, Bob did a fantastic job chronicling this story, so if you're a fan of OSU baseball, or baseball in general, give it a read!
This book taught me so much about baseball and what the players experience in order to get to be world champions. As a mother who was very involved in my daughters sport career I can relate to how the parents of these super athletes must have felt during this journey. I also really like the oral history aspect of the book. It was the first time I read a book in this format and I loved it. I couldn't wait to see who was going to be interviewed next. This is a must read for baseball fans!
