With sharp satire and precise writing, George Thomas Clark takes readers into the halls of power, and indeed into the minds of the powerful, after the American attack on Iraq. Saddam Hussein and George W. Bush are at their deceptive best, and often unintentionally humorous as they attempt to justify their belligerence.Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Karl Rove, Mahmoud Ahmadenijad, Osama bin Laden, and many others also shine spotlights on themselves and the tragic period from 2003 to 2009, ensuring that "Echoes from Saddam Hussein" is a unique and stimulating read.
George Thomas Clark is the author of Hitler Here, an acclaimed biographical novel, Paint it Blue and They Make Movies, creative stories about artists and actors, Down Goes Trump, a political satire, short story collections The Bold Investor and Anne Frank on Tour and Other Stories, Basketball and Football, and other fusions of fact and fiction.
In addition to writing, Clark follows the news and sports, exercises daily (albeit delicately), collects contemporary art, enjoys independent movies, and travels to places (most recently Madrid, Mexico City, Quito, Guanajuato, and Aguascalientes) where he can socialize in Spanish.
An interesting idea well done. This book is a serious of satirical essays allesgedly from people in the Bush administration claiming that all is well or would be fine soon before, during & after their part of the Iraq war. There are even some pieces by Saddam Hussein himself ending in 1 that congratulates America on installing a strongman to keep things under control. Enjoyable even at this date. I recomend it to folk who didnt care for the Bush White House and anyone who just likes a knowing chuckle as people admit we screwed up. Hoping for a sequel starring another Hussein we know.
