DC Ryan Jarrod #5
Operation Sage
Think of Ann Cleeves or LJ Ross with the gritty, urban twist of Ian Rankin - that's the Ryan Jarrod series : explosive crime fiction in the mould of traditional dark thrillers.
A drive-by hit in a sleepy village, an under-the-radar kidnapping, and a failed suicide intervention all add up to just another day in the office for newly-promoted Detective Sergeant Ryan Jarrod. Until, that is, he discovers all three incidents are linked to an organised crime gang with a single target - Jarrod himself.
In his most perilous investigation yet, Jarrod is faced with an impossible to go rogue and sacrifice his career, his sanity, and all he believes in; or toe the party line and risk losing everything?

Another great story
Another great story in the Ryan Jarrod series featuring all the usual characters. A storyline that moved at such a fast pace it was difficult to breathe as you did not want to put the book down. And what an ending. I am glad that I already have the next one in the series.

Brilliant - great suspense all the way through with a final twist to keep you on edge and get you to read the next book straight away. Really enjoyed the fast paced plot and how Ryan Jarrod coped in such a high pressure situation - makes you realise how everyone can become a victim of organised crime.

I usually enjoy these a lot and while I didn't dislike this one, I did find it ridiculously far-fetched and absolutely unbelievable. I know Jarrod gets away with a lot and is a maverick, but this stretched that too far.

This is the 5th Colin Youngman’s book I’ve read and it’s the best. This had me gripped from the very beginning. Newly promoted DS Ryan Jarrod has his hands full when he is thrown into the turmoil of kidnap, drugs and murder.
