Superb continuation of the James Brand saga

J. Eugene Porter brings World War II US Navy history to life. From conversations I’ve had over the years with WW II Navy veterans, I know Mr. Porter’s research is outstanding. Many years ago, there was a young people’s series of novels titled, “We Were There.” They first appeared in 1956, and the thirty-six “episodes” lasted into the early 1960’s. Mr. Porter has provided us with the adult version, and the tradition of accurate, interesting, and valid history “lessons” continues today. I can hardly wait for Episode #6, and succeeding episodes to come. Thank-You, Mr. Porter. All the Best to You and Yours! Bravo Zulu!

Outstanding

This series is honestly the best I have read touching one fact and a wonderful fiction story. Mr Porter has a writting style that encompasses the reader and makes them part of history. As a fan of World War history, he has managed to include so many facts and true stories along with the continuing story of Professor Brains that You honestly cannot stop reading this series. I am looking forward to the nrxt.

Not happy with this one!

Probably the worst book of the series. Too much detail on subjects of too little importance. Lots of what I term ' padding ' to extend the page count. Hopefully the next one will cover much more interesting battles, and much more on the development of the atomic bomb. James should be worked much more deeply into this subject.

Astonishing detailed war.

I liked this very much. I got bogged down in the details sometimes. Too much for my brains I guess.
