Suite Encounter

Once, I had a huge crush on him. Then, I rejected everything he stood for. Now, he’s my new boss.

Billionaire entrepreneur Landon Birmingham rescues me from the most crushingly awkward moment of my life. He offers me a job when I need it most. For a while, I’m lulled into believing he’s the kind man I knew ten years ago.

But he’s changed.

Forget the 1%. He's now the 0.001%. He and his brothers have built a luxury residential tower nicknamed Billionaire Heights. Each suite is a penthouse, and only the richest of the rich need apply.

As Landon’s personal assistant, I’m drawn into his world of five-star dining, high-stakes bachelor auctions, and cars that cost more than my apartment.

Gradually, I show him my world, too, and while homemade picnics, free concerts in the park, and public transportation are foreign to him, it’s clear there’s more to Landon than a rich playboy with a smoking hot body.

Each time we’re together, my feelings for him grow. But just when I conclude he’s still a good man I could love, a secret from my past emerges that tests us both.

The heroine managed to unnerve me! 😤🙄
She had a character with many contradictions, her beliefs and her actions were not aligned. And tbh I was tired with her and her plants.

“I kept my eyes down, trying not to look at the monstrosity to my right. Before, this block had housed a charming series of restaurants, shops, and even a little nature museum, which had been my favorite place in the entire city. But all that was gone now, bought—and then torn down—by greedy developers to make a luxury residential building. A high-rise that only the 0.01 percent could live in.”

This is the first installment in a new series by Sophie Brooks ~ The Bachelor’s of Billionaire Heights.

Billionaire Heights is a very exclusive habitacional building for the very, very wealthy, with all the commodities you can imagine.
In this book, the building is months away from being open to the public with some of the suites are bought and most of the staff being hired.
The building of Billionaire Heights, has caused a lot of controversy and even protesters in it’s early stages.

“I think I’ve met you before.” I didn’t know how or why, but I knew it was true.
She tilted her head. “Yes, you rescued me from a flash mob proposal a little while ago.”
That wasn’t it, but I was glad she understood that I’d intervened for her sake. She was looking down, her forearms resting on her knees, and I examined what I could see of her face, looking for clues. Whoever she was, I hadn’t seen her in a long time. I had the sense that she looked different now, but I didn’t know how. I was only sure of one thing. “I know you.”
She looked at the nearby ferns. At the soil, at her own clasped hands—everywhere except for me.
Then she sighed. “Yes, Landon, you do.”

Landon Birmingham, is the middle brother and the brains behind Billionaire Heights. Without his vision, the building would not exist.
Landon, works super hard, but also has very laid back personality.
When the book first starts he saves our heroine from a flash mob proposal, from her then boyfriend.
The two have met before, way back when they’re in their teens and according to Sadie he has changed.

“Sadie Monroe: Plant Defender,” Landon said. “We need to get you a cape. And some tights and boots that go up to your thighs. Oh, yeah, I can definitely see you in something like that.” He paused and then grinned again. “Nope, I’m just picturing you in a Wonder Woman outfit.”

That’s Sadie in a nutshell.
She loves plants. She rescues them from certain death in the porches of other people. She knows all their names and what they need in other to survive and thrive. A true plant lover.

“When I was with Steven, I couldn’t imagine being all by myself again. But now that I am, I can’t comprehend why I didn’t do it sooner.”
“It’s not easy,” Becca said. “You can get in a holding pattern. Inertia or whatever. Sometimes, even if it’s wrong, you keep going.”

Sadie’s life wasn’t easy. She lost her mother at a very young age.
She was raised by her loving father in a very modest household in a not very safe neighborhood.
Despite everything, they had each other and a lot of love. But her father died just after she fished high school and Sadie was left alone in the world.

“Back then, you actively helped out, and now it seems like you… you sometimes prefer to—”
“Throw money at the problem?”

I love Landon. He’s a perfect gentleman, perfect boyfriend,… the guy is perfect.
I did not love Sadie tho. I couldn’t connect with her. Granted her life was hard and she had principals but to me she just came across as a bitter hypocrite.

She says she loves Landon, but hates that he has changed after 10 years… to me it just seems likes she’s thirsty for the guy but doesn’t like his character much.
Ok, we get it, the guy is hot! But if you don’t like his ideals, his character, why string him along?

“those with the most money got the most opportunities.”

“When rich people decided to do good works, they sure as hell had a farther reach than someone like me.”

“Clearly, if they had homes and yards and big trees out in the suburbs, they were doing better than I was. Not that I’d ever wanted to live in the suburbs.”

“Becca’s offer smacked of charity”

And then there were all the times that she was bitter towards the people that were helping and wanted to see her happy.

Yes, rich people have more opportunities. Yes they reach farther than we can when they want to help others. Doesn’t mean our work is not valid or precious. Sometimes is even more needed.
I honestly think we need both ways of helping. The money rich people give and the work volunteers are willing to put on. They’re both important and needed.

Sadie had a very one way vision.
She hated Billionaire Hights but didn’t mind working or living there.
She wanted Landon to change, but she was fixated in her own ways…
She wanted Landon to be more hands on on helping people, but forgets that money is essential for donations.

Okay, I’m done.
Again, I loved Landon and the other side characters, I just didn’t like Sadie… at all.

Am I really excited to read Reid and Romeo’s story tho.
The little sneak peaks at the end of the book left me wanting to read more!

What a great start to this new series the Birmingham Billionaires by Sophie Brooks. Landon and Sadie were friends when they were younger since Sadie was best friends with Landon's sister. Circumstances separated them and they reconnected ten years later. Landon finds that he is still attracted to and protective of Sadie. They're from opposite backgrounds and Sadie can stretch a dollar like no other. Their chemistry is explosive but things get hairy when her vindictive ex boyfriend surfaces. No shortage of drama, angst or suspense as things play out. This book sets up the series for the other brothers but ends without a cliffhanger. A good read with likable, interesting characters and an engaging story line. I read a free advance copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

The main characters in this book are Sadie Monroe and Landon Birmingham. Sadie works in a souvenir gift shop and her boss Steven is also her boyfriend. She hasn’t been the happiest at her work, nor in her relationship, which doesn’t help when he drops a surprise on her, right in front of the brand new Billionaire Heights, as the new and pretentious building is known as. The three Birmingham brothers are partners on the new building, Reid the eldest and nominal CEO of Birmingham Heights, but Landon was the person behind getting investors interested in the project as CFO and it was his baby, and younger brother Roman (nicknamed Romeo) is the designer and architect for the building. The building is not for the normal people, it is to be the ultimate home for the very wealthy, with every service you could think of catered for. Sadie finds herself in front of the unfinished building, just as Steven arranges something unwelcome and Landon comes out to clear people off the property. Sadie stays in the garden area, sat against a tree, after the disastrous meeting with her now ex-boyfriend! Landon sees her still there on the security cameras and comes out to check on her and realises she is his little sister Becca’s old friend from when they were younger.
Sadie used to know the family and spent time with them before she went to college and her life has been vastly different from theirs. She has a tiny apartment she can barely afford and bills to pay, now with no job. Landon reaches out and offers her a job as his personal assistant, the very brother she used to have a huge crush on when she was younger. Sadie is used to struggling to make ends meet and also volunteers at a homeless shelter, helping to make a difference. Her best friend lost his job when the museum he worked in was closed for this huge new property to be built in its place. She loves plants and has a very green thumb but is also a social activist. Her usual world is a far cry from the world she now inhabits with her new job as Landon’s personal assistant and as Romeo’s plant administrator, helping them both with the new suites and suggesting ways the building could be greener. Her naivety causes a few issues and her ex-boyfriend causes an even bigger stink when he makes up a load of lies about her past and present situations, both her work and personal lives. There is lots going on and pressure on both sides of the business, as well as the beginning of a relationship between Sadie and Landon, all of which could go pear shaped if her exes words have any true impact. She can’t change the future and can only hope that the Landon she knew all those years ago could be found again and rescue her from her pit of despair and blame. A lovely romance which leaves me wanting to know more about his two brothers as well and when they might find the right woman as well. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout but went ahead and bought it as well. Since I really enjoyed the characters. I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

“Suite Encounter” is the first book in a new series by Sophie Brooks, and it’s a sweet, steamy, somewhat-angsty delight.

Sadie grew up with very little of material value, but a father who cherished her. A shared interest in an extracurricular activity while she was of middle school age leads her to a new friend who happens to be part of the extraordinarily wealthy Birmingham family. The friend happens to have three handsome older brothers. Sadie develops a crush on Landon, the middle brother, whose kindness and consideration matches his physical appeal. Something happens that I don’t want to divulge because you should find out for yourself in the way the author reveals it in the book. The result is that a decade goes by before Sadie and the Birmingham siblings see one another again.

When an unexpected event puts Sadie and Landon in the same place at the same time, they both find that old feelings resurface – changed a bit and compounded by age and experience. Landon especially finds that his protective instincts towards Sadie are are magnified by the physical attraction he feels towards her now that she’s an adult. Sadie is still struggling to survive in the world with scant emotional support and very little money. Landon has plenty of money and the support of his siblings and mother, but is feeling the stress of defining himself amidst social pressures and expectations put upon him by others.

There are a few sources of angst in “Suite Encounter” and some serious introspection. A couple of times I thought Sadie was just a little bit too self-righteous, but it was forgivable because her heart was sincere. She and Lincoln are both likable characters and deserving of a heartwarming happy ending. There are enough lighthearted moments in the story to keep it from becoming overly serious. Secondary characters in this book are interesting and vividly depicted, which is great because the epilogues indicate that four of them will be primary characters in future books in the series. I very much enjoyed the world Sophie Brooks created in this story and for the series overall.

I read an ARC of this book and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts and opinions about it.

Good start to a new romance series set in Chicago🏙

I love a good series with a group of unmarried family members who get paired off book by book. In this opening to Sophie Brooks' new series Landon, the middle of three super wealthy brothers, reconnects with Sadie, an estranged friend of his sister Becca. They're from opposite ends of the economic and social spectrum, Sadie's down on her luck and they don't see eye to eye on the highrise he's building for the mega-rich.

I liked the pair and their attempts to bridge the gap between them. I especially liked Sadie's challenge that she could plan and execute a memorable date for ten dollars or less to rival the fancy and expensive dates Landon is accustomed to. Sadie knows how to get value from a buck, loves public transportation and simply adores the green side of life. She's never met a plant she doesn't want to nurture!🌱 Landon lives in total luxury and fixes things with money, but Sadie remembers a different, younger Landon fondly and she's hoping that side of him has not disappeared for good.

I skimmed over the steamy scenes as, for me, they were a bit too drawn out, but in general it's a good story and sets the stage for additional matchups for Landon's three siblings. I will definitely be looking to read more in this series.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Landon and Sadie met when he was in college and she was in high school. She came every day during the summer to see his sister and Landon picked Sadie up every morning from the train and dropped her back off each night. They didn’t see each other for 10 years. And then she was getting ready to break up with her boyfriend when she meets him and he has a flash mob ready, singing and dancing, then he goes down on one knee. Landon’s inside the building he’s dreamed of building and he sees a flash mob proposal going bad. He feels like he should help the woman out who looks like a dear in the headlights and definitely wants to say no! So he opens the front of the building and runs the man and dancers off for trespassing. The woman looks familiar, and he realizes it’s Sadie, who looks much more grown up than she did 10 years ago. They begin talking again and Sadie wound up taking a job with Landon because she lost her last one. Landon and Sadie have crazy chemistry but have a lot of other issues too. You need to read this book for yourself for the ups and downs, but also the journey to love. A wonderful book! I can’t wait to read the books for the two brothers! I highly recommend this book!

The Beginning of a New Three Book Series.
Sophie Brooks has given us a fun and romantic book one that takes place in Chicago and features the middle billionaire Birmingham brother, Landon. This storyline has a great premise of reuniting Sadie, a middle class plant person with her school friend’s (from long ago) brother, Landon while him and his brothers, Reid the oldest and Romeo the youngest, work toward completing a residential tower for billionaires.
There are many differences between the two protagonists, mainly on how they look at life and the resources they use up in living. Through Sadie’s eyes Landon is beginning to see how he may seem to her and the community. While working on that together, an ex comes in and tries to trash everything about the brothers and Sadie.
Will they be able to salvage anything?
I’m recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and satisfaction. PEACE.

I loved Sadie. She has all the wonderful qualities I admire. Beautiful Sadie loves plants and is a self-educated plant whisperer and designer. She also is a conservationist and social activist. In this story, Sadie's actions and deeds have influenced many including Landon Birmingham. Landon and his brothers Reid and Roman (aka Romeo) are rich young men from old money. Their latest project is Birmingham Heights, a new Chicago high-rise consisting of ultra condos, retail, and fine dining. Sadie starts working as an assistant for Landon until her plant design skills become obvious to Architect and designer Romeo. She quickly shows how plantings can enhance interiors.
Sadies ex-boyfriend shows up to cause some malicious trouble but Landon fights for his girl. This is a beautiful story full of wonderful caring characters. I LOVE Sophie Brooks's joyful hope-filled stories with characters you wish you knew. Linda

A Love Destined From The Past -
Sadie was truly elated when she was saved from the embarrassing situation she found herself in, but what made it even better was her saviour was her friend whom she had lost touch with. When Landon interrupted the scene that was playing out on his property, he never expected that the damsel was actually someone he knew. It appears that incident was the beginning of their bumpy journey to a happily ever after.

Believe me when I say that once you start reading this story, there is a chance you will hit anyone who interrupts you whilst you are reading. You will be hooked on the story, with all the trials and tribulations, the intimate moments and the lives of all the characters. It was a real treat to relax and enjoy this amazing book and I am sure you will feel the same once you read it too.

Sophie Brooks' Suite Encounter is an absolute must-read steamy romance! Brilliantly-written with incredibly well-developed characters, it was impossible to put down Landon and Sadie's story. Two engaging characters from completely opposite ends of the social status spectrum, Landon and Sadie's differences are what make them perfect for one another. He is a swoon-worthy romantic lead, the quintessential book boyfriend, while Sadie is so likeable and relatable that you cannot help but fall in love with her right along with Landon. This is a fabulous standalone novel while also setting the scene for a series all about the handsome, alpha billionaire Birmingham brothers, a love story so entertaining and involving you will not be able to stop until you reach the very end. Awesome!

Suite Encounters is the first book in the Birmingham Billionaires series. It actually started ten years earlier, when Sadie was just a young girl who was best friends with Landon’s sister Becca. The strong attraction between Landon and Sadie is still there despite their obvious different positions in life. Sadie doesn’t know where she’ll get rent money for her tiny apartment while Landon and his brothers are all billionaires, building and living in luxurious penthouse suites.
Even though this is the first book in the series, it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger. It does, however, leave the reader anxious to read the next books about the other Birmingham siblings.

In exchange for receiving an ARC by the author, I am leaving my honest review.

This standalone billionaire romance features Landon and Sadie.  They knew each other when they were kids and she really liked her best friend’s brother.  They lost touch and now, years later, he’s one of the three wealthy Birmingham brothers who own the wasteful condominium building, Birmingham Heights. Can an eco-friendly girl, from the wrong side of the tracks,  fall for the guy she new all those years ago? Is he still that same person?

Fantastic story line and characters!  The story line was incredibly complete without having too much filler story.  There were no gaps or missing information.  These two had an extremely combustible relationship.  The steam factor was OFF THE CHARTS!  I can wait to read about the stuffiest Birmingham brother, Reid, coming up next.

This couple was so opposite of each other that they fit together perfectly like puzzle pieces. Two different worlds collide and old feelings resurface between Sadie and Landon. This story was so heartwarming and full of feels, that I quickly became invested in the couple and their journey. I loved that Landon cared enough to make major changes for the good of the majority. True integrity! The sabatogewas cheap and made me heartsick. I was happy Mia's action were clarified, because I was holding a huge grudge in that area. The epilogues were very tasty!!! Looking forward to more from the brothers.

The Suite Life...

When environmental enthusiast Sadie accidentally reconnects with financial titan Landon their green grass and steel beams cross on fundamental concepts but even that can't stop when the heart wants what it wants. This story has the perfect blend of realism and drama that I always appreciate in this authors writing. She makes the characters so likeable you keep reading to find out what your friends are getting up to. The controversy, drama and deal breaking situations thrown into these pages has you constantly guessing how it's going to turn out. I loved it. Landon rescues Sadie from an embarrassing proposal. When she finds out she is fired Landon hires her. They have a connection but Sadie is uncomfortable with Landon's wealth. As they spend more time together the gap between their lives seems to get smaller. Sadie is drawn into helping incorporate plants into the Birmingham Suites. Landon starts to realize that his wealth has him out of touch. As Landon and Sadie get closer, her ex-boyfriend causes trouble and causes her to almost lose her job. Great read. You will really enjoy this one!

Sadie loves her plants, and is happiest when she has dirt on her hands, but she never expected to cross paths with Landon (the brother of an old friend, she lost touch with). The come from different worlds, he has a silver spoon in his, and hers is more hand to mouth. She is offered a job, by Landon, when she really needs it. Will they become something more? I loved this intriguing tale, the challenges they faced and how Sadie isn't a stereotypical female. I loved both Sadie and Landon, even though they had their moments that they didn't make the best decision.

The haves and the have nots.

Sadie is of the have nots. As in money or family. As in a job or boyfriend.

Landon is definitely of the haves. As in Billionaire Heights (a monstrosity for the mega rich), plenty of family with his brothers and sister and mother. As in more money and plenty of ex’s.

But one summer, a decade ago, they briefly knew each other. He meets her again when she’s not accepting a marriage proposal and looses her job.

I liked the contrast of Sadie being earthy and into plants and Landon with money and luxury.
Purchased.

This is the first book of the Birmingham Billionaire series by Sophie Brooks. Do opposites attract, or at least opposites in social standing? They come from different worlds and knew each other when they were young but does the attraction still hold? This book makes you feel good and believe in second chances.
Can Sadie and Landon make things work? Lots going on and good set up for the next book though there is no cliff hanger. Looking forward to reading about the other brothers of Birmingham.

I truly enjoyed the storyline of the story. It was well written and developed. The only thing I didn’t like that much was Sadie’s attitude at times. She tends to act so very high and mighty as if other people’s lives and how they are living them is wrong. That tended to cause me not to connect with her as much. I connected with Landon a lot more. The chemistry between them was really strong and can be felt throughout the story. It was a stunning story that I really couldn’t put down. I just had to find out what happened. It is definitely a must read.

This is a story of a young woman that doesn’t make a lot of money but knows how to spend wisely with what she has. She becomes friends with a girl in school that had three older brothers and they are very wealthy. She gets a crush on the middle one but it doesn’t go anywhere. They meet again a few years later and they end up,dating. But he’s extravagant with the dates and she ends up with a wonderful idea for the date she plans. Will they become more and be together? Wow! I've just finished reading this book and I couldn't put it down. Seriously, I've read it in one sitting. And I'm in love with this new series of Sophie Brooks. The main characters, London and Sadie, were both strong, kind and loveable. The story was interesting and sweet, but had some twists and turns that made it also exciting.
If you like sweet and sexy billionaire romances or you like this author then I recommend this book to you.
I already can't wait for the next books in the series!

Oh, I do love a Sophie book!!

Sadie is saved from an awkward marriage proposal to another man by her childhood crush, Landon. The other man just so happened to also be her boss and now that she has rejected his proposal she is also without a job. Landon comes to the rescue and offers her a job at "Billionaire Heights" in which she has a personal problem with.

This was such a good book. I did miss Sophie's books and I am glad she is back to it.

Now, Mia and Romeo. I have got to know the story of those two.

4.5 stars. Engaging, enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed this story. Sadie and Landon were both wonderful characters. I loved the way Sadie reconnected with Landon, and his sister, after 10 years, and how they overcame obstacles, including their differing backgrounds and philosophies. The steamy scenes were so good, and the HEA very moving. I’m looking forward to the next stories involving Landon’s brothers.
