Perfect for fans of contemporary women’s fiction with heartwarming and wholesome romance, and a gorgeous beachside setting, the Grayton Beach Series is a fun and memorable read that will delight readers looking for their emotional fix.
Grayson Beach is in the path of a hurricane. They decide to ride out the storm in Marissa Bakery. They have boarded up some windows and have sandbagged around the building to hold off the rater from entering the bakery.
While Andrew and raise were on the beach preparing for the storm, they noticed a surfer who was unaware of the coming storm and a large wave swept over him and he was pulled out in the ocean. They could not find him.
Marissa meets Haley on the beach. She appears for a short time and then disappears. Hayley is a little eccentric. Marisa demands that Hayley come and stay in the bakery until the storm passes.
Andrew, Marissa, Sandy, Laney, Jacob and Haley are in the bakery.
Sandy and Laney get into a squabble - Laney wants to be a family country singer - but her plans did not work out.
Marissa informally adopts Jacob (a young man in a wheel chair).
Seems everyone of them has something they are trying to work through.
With the storm over, Marissa and Andrew go to survey the damage at the beach house. The roof has been damaged and Andrew attempts to climb on the roof to survey the damage, when he fall through and is injured. He is taken to hospital by ambulance.
Marisa was making so much progress renovating the cottage that her sister had purchased for her which was really a tear down, but she was determined to fix it up. They ended up having to completely tear the roof off and gut the inside. She was making so much progress when this hurricane made a complete turn & headed their way which I am all too familiar with. They boarded up the house the best they could & the bakery & put sand bags all around both places & her sisters? Her sister was going to Raleigh, but Marisa would not go, she said she was staying at her bakery she was not leaving so her sister, niece, the pastor that had been doing electrical work, Jacob & Haley all stay in the bakery & road out the storm. It got ruff @ times. Marisa & her sister did a lot of talking about ole times & ole memories. What do you think will happen. Marisa is ready to leave. Everything is going wrong & nothing is working out. All the work she's done has been in vain. What is going to happen? What will she decide to do?
I received this ARC book for free & I'm giving my review of my own free will. I love this series.
As the world turns, more challenges arise when a hurricane rips through the small beachfront community. As we all know, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger! Nerves are tested to the very limits and previously broken hearts are re-shattered. Hiding out for safety in Marisa’s bakery, the clan thus bares their hearts and souls to each other. This ordeal was heartbreaking and endearing, bringing them all that much closer to each other. This portion brought me to tears and caused me to reflect on painful times in my own life.
When the damage from the hurricane was evaluated, one of the group was severely injured. Will they live?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, especially getting to know each character in much greater detail. There wasn’t anything that I disliked. Hayley is a very talented author and I can see her writing maturing with each passing book.
I received this advanced reader’s copy for free from author. This is a voluntary review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.
The hurricane is set to hit Grayton Beach and then turns west. It was interesting that they all cmaped out at Marissa's bakery. I was so glad Marissa and her sister, Sandy got a chance to really talk about her marriage and their parents. They sounded so hopeful until they check to see what the storm had done. This book ended in a cliffhanger. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I was lucky to receive an advance reader copy of this book, and the opinions are my own. I continue to enjoy this new series. Once again, the author has created strong, but of course flawed characters. I like the message of "rebuild and repair" for lives.
I so enjoy books such as this where sad stories have wonderful new beginnings. We all have times in our lives that we wish could be different. It’s nice to see that each day brings a new beginning as in this story. It’s never to late.
