In his late twenties and a product of urban, upper-middle-class society, he’s had a comfortable life. Juggling his time between setting up his new business venture and lounging with friends—and frequent escapades with beautiful women and booze—life seems to be going well.
Until one morning when his life hits a roadblock in the form of his overprotective, authoritative mother who only wants what’s best for her son. And this time, it’s in the form of marriage...arranged marriage.
A reluctant Ayaan gets entangled in the frustrating and exhausting process of meeting women chosen by his determined mother, who refuses to stop till she has what she wants.
Will Ayaan find his perfect match or does the universe have a different path laid out for him?
Pranav Rao is a curious soul who is not afraid to question the traditional ways in order to find better ones. He often finds himself oscillating between free will and determinism. He studies people and situations and has an uncanny knack of finding stories around him or better still, within him. He can often be found reading a book, usually non-fiction, while he is stuck in traffic. Just like cooking, which he enjoys, he uses ingredients of experience, observation, imagination & inspiration to weave his stories. You can find him unwinding with his friends at a local joint over the weekends.
Today's generation in general is a bit recalcitrant when it comes to marriage. They want to live their life on their own terms and are against the idea of entering into any sort of bondage. But then not marrying on time has its own cons and that's why our parents want us to take this essential decision when there is still time in hand.
The story is penned around Ayaan who happens to be the protagonist of the novel. He is against the idea of wedding and doesn't want to get hitched but on the other hand his mother wants to see him happy , prosperous and with a life partner. The tale in a funny yet sincere way explores how the idea of arrange marriage is in itself problematic. Two people are going to spend their rest of their lives together and this decision can certainly not be taken in haste .
The novel feels like a different read . The plot seems fresh and new as I have hardly read any novels based around the same storyline. The content is written well though characterisation could have been better . Cover is suitable and the language employed in the work cater well to the requirements.
Book Name- A Tale Of Arranged Marriage Author- Pranav Rao . . The book revolves around the life of Ayaan, who is in his late twenties. Set in the typical Indian backdrop, where your mother and other family members are hell bent on getting your married. Well, I am talking about a typical arrange marriage scenario.
Ayaan's overprotective mother won't let him rest until he has agreed upon marrying a girl she chooses for him. Yes, here her choice matters more than his. The book showcases the reality of typical Indian arrange marriages and what the to-be groom and bride has to go through before that. Juggling between work and his social life, Ayaan feels that he's not ready for a marriage right now. But will he stick to his decisions? Well, things do take different turns and you have to read the book to discover it.
Though the storyline is not that strong, but it does a good job at questioning the existing arrange marriage mentality. It keeps on focusing on the fact that a marriage is a commitment for life and the decision shouldn't be taken in haste, through one or two meetings, as is common in the Indian setting.
The story is fast paced but the character developments could have been better. Ayaan's character required more depth, that I feel personally.
The writing is simple and the language is lucid, making it a good fit to the beginners. Some of the times I did get some cliché vibes though, which differs according to the reader's taste.
Some parts of the book felt like a glorification of toxic traits like sexism (casual and benevolent), colourism, and racism, which could have been worked upon, in a better way.
A 26 year old and starting out on his career as an entrepreneur, Ayaan, who isn't interested to get married just yet but his mother is quite adamant to get him hitched. And in the process, he met quite a few girls that his mother chose for him. Exhausting as it was he did all of it for his mother. Will he ever find a match for himself?
MY THOUGHTS: My first expression was " WOW! This cover really tells an amazing story." and so i was excited about reading it. I must say, the titles of the chapters are well thought. And though I couldn't connect to the parents described I was rather annoyed by the continuous rant for Ayaan to get married. Ayaan being the sun of the complete solar system, that's this book, didn't Shine as bright as he should have. I found Ayaan to be respectful towards his mother but sometimes it's too much, it feels like he doesn't have a stand of his own. Other than all of that I think the book reflects some parts of the society we still live in. How the process for people who are going for arranged marriage is still so hectic. The writing style is pretty simple and easy to read. This is a very light and beginner friendly read. Like I completed it in a day. And it was somewhat a fun read. If you have read it let's discuss about it and if you have not you can give it a try... .
It's a fun, witty read that you may enjoy over the weekend. The author shares about Ayaan's encounter and his meeting with the women his mother chose. From the process of an arranged marriage to His overprotective, authoritative mother tricks him and drags him to the family meetings, there's never a dull moment here.
With an interesting plot and a pleasant narration, the author takes us to the lives of Ayaan and his family. You will enjoy every bit of the book. With the layers of friendship, family love, social pressure, relationships and love, you are going to relive the best memories with your friends here.
The language of the story is simple with an engrossing writing style that one could relate to. We all can relate to Ayaan's situation and his mother's situation as well.
Marriage is a big decision and Ayaan wants to be sure before he commits. The characters are well developed by the author. One could relate to each of them. I loved Meera's character the most out of all. Be it a supported character, the way she explained Ayaan was amazing.
Not to forget an amazing, unpredictable climax. Of course, you are going to love Ayaan's great life. I liked the last few chapters of the story most. How one feels to be rejected, how one misunderstanding can ruin everything and there's a lot more to witness here.
Overall, it's a breezy read with an interesting narration that you will enjoy.
A Tale of Arranged Marriage by Pranav Rao💙 I needed a book that softened my mood and made me smile wide, a books that's properly funny, interesting and light hearted at same time with good plot and pacing, and voila! Pranav Rao weaves a astute tale where a young guy Ayaan is forced by his mother to meet girl after girl in search of a 'sanskaari ladki' who is a perfect wife material. Ayaan is clueless and confused about the whole arrange marriage concept. Will he able to find love and perfect life partner?
The premise is surprisingly good, I wasn't expecting it to be this witty and astute. The author has a done a great job portraying all the mishaps and mayhem in the search of perfect bride in India, with a pinch of delectable humour and drama.
Best part of the book: it's unstoppably frank, messy with tangled portrayal how family forces arrange marriage. And that end omg I didn't see it coming making it flawless I just loved it. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Satisfying stars
A Tale of Arranged Marriage is an astonishing work of Pranav Rao which is a book full of fun and yet gripping plotline. There are very few such books that I have come across which is a complete fiction, yet it is based o the actual reflection in the modern society. The book deals with the current Indian diaspora that is being faced by the new adults especially from their overprotective parents.
The plot was very much fun to read on every flip of its pages. The story is based on the protagonist Ayaan who is in his twenties. Ayaan is a young, talented man with a good job, independent and has been spending his time hanging out with friends. Everything is going well with him until his mom who is overprotective and caring decides to marry him off at the earliest. While Ayaan is having a very different vision and dreams of his future and he is very reluctant, his mother forces him who doesn’t refuse to stop making him meeting women until he decides to marry one.
The language is simple and very easy to understand. The cover of the pic is very uniquely designed, and it gives a hint to readers about what they are about to enjoy in the story. The story is very interesting to read, and the characters truly reflect the behaviour of typical Indian parents. It is a fast-paced read and would be able to finish it within few hours. However, I read this book more than once and I loved laughing through every time I read it. I am happy to give this book 5 stars.
A Tale of Arranged Marriage by Pranav Rao is a book that takes a dig at the kind of scenarios that occur when it comes to marriage that too ' arranged marriage'. And amazing things happen when family members join in too. Here's a story of a well-settled boy from an upper-middle-class society who is committed to his business and friends.
Living his extra-large life juggling between extravagant lifestyle and satisfaction of life. Things may sound amazing on his side but in a typical, the best example of being settled is when you get married and have a partner. Once you agree to such commitments, there comes an unending rotation of meetings, questioning and choosing the perfect one. What does it take to be the perfect one or how do you choose the perfect one.
Between all these doubts and concerns, what will the heart plump for?
A perfect book that seems to throw light on amazing aspects of life. A phase that appears in everyone's life once. Quite catchy and well written, this has a lot packed in.

The language of the book is beginner-friendly. And the book is short read can be complete in one go. Recommended to those looking to light reads and looking to read other than love stories.

And his mother is dead set on getting him married,as any other typical indian mother would, and constantly arranging him dates and looking out for girls even though her son is not interested. This book always reminded me of my family where if a parent decides on something then he/she will make it happen no matter what.
The writing style was smooth and simple, the narration was lucid and i'll call it a comical fiction it makes you laugh it many points ,characters were well portrayed and we can conclude that it's a very subtle and enjoyable book. Make sure to give it a try!

To know about Ayaan's perfect match or about his different path which may universe laid out for him grab your copies which is available on amazon. This story can be relatable to any Indian man or woman who is “at age” to get married. The author's writing style is very simple. The author weaves the story based on reality. He also developed the supporting role amazingly. I completed this book in one sitting. This is a fast-paced read and I also find some moments hilarious. I recommend this book who loves to read contemporary fiction.
“But how can I get married to a stranger? Just because his bio-data checked on all the worldly criteria, it cannot decide the commitment of a lifetime.”
At a certain age, we all went through social pressure to marry and settle down in life. When a boy and girl cross the age of 23, a typical arranged marriage process begins with a profile match based on biodata, followed by a horoscope match. Once both parties are satisfied, the process enters the second stage, where the boy and girl meet first time under family supervision.
A tale of arranged marriage by Pranav Rao is delighted, humorous book on the touchy subject of arranged marriage. This is a hilarious story of Ayaan, who is caught in the drama of arranged marriage, to meet all kinds of possible matches sorted by her mother and her mother list seems never-ending for him. Amidst all the drama and her mother’s continuous nagging, he is not prepared to get married as he wants to set up his business first.
I truly loved the book. Through lucid writing, the author succeeds in making me giggle, laugh, and be thoughtful at the same time. The concept of arranged marriage is described vividly. Pranav crafted each character with detail, from a worried and determined mother to the frustrated son to different vibrant and dull personalities of possible matches.
I like Ayan’s character; he is a strong, determined, handsome, and hard-working son who loved his mother a lot and appreciated his mother’s efforts of finding a perfect girl for him. His encounter with different girls makes me laugh and curious to turn the pages non-stop. His confusion and frustration feel so real that anyone will relate to him.
Overall, this is a light-hearted, humorous book with an excellent writing style.
One of the best books I have read this month! Highly recommend it! I only leave positive feedback and reviews when I love the book. Feel free to ask anything regarding this book. A must read for sure. I'd recommend this book to everyone who would like to read an amazing book. The book is written in a very interesting way . A must read for sure
Amazingly woven like an interesting spell. I didn't think this book was going to be this good. It was , as you might expect , engaging , a total different piece of art from every aspect. It sets a very high bar for whatever he does that comes next. Must Read
“One of the keys to a successful marriage is separate bathrooms. When he enters my bathroom sometimes I’m like, ‘Why are you in here?’ And he’s like, ‘I live here. Can I enjoy my bathroom too?’” ~ Michelle Obama
◾ Marriage is one thing but the typical indian arranged marriage which is an another level of business is everything 😂🥲. Product (M/F) firstly see and meet each other. If the product satisfy coustmer's need (F/M 's family) then the transportation starts. Joke apart, let's see what the book is all about.
◾ The story revolved around Ayan, the protagonist who was in his 20's and enjoying his life to the fullest, hanging out with his friends. His life was in peace until his sweet mother wanted him to get married😂🤣. Life turned upside down when he was meeting different girls until his mother got satisfied with the girl as per her needs as the way she wanted for her son.
◾The book was totally the package of entertainment plus the most relatable context and being a typical middle class Brown person who herself in her 20's enjoyed this reading to the fullest. Some events were totally hilarious and some are totally funny. I'll surely surely recommend it to everyone. Just grab your copies now. You'll love it. This will light up your mood. Language was beginner friendly. Hence, easy-to-read.
◾As the book was entertaining from a different angle. But, many of us may be don't like the typical thinking of choosing the partner you wanna live with. The judgements and so many other thing affect the M/F psychologically as well during these meeting days and when he or she gets rejected. The reason of rejection varies person to person but ethically this isn't just feel right and I personally think this needs to stop. The unwanted judgements or rejections may cause the really deep affection to anybody. If you wanna choose someone, choose wisely or just don't. Give your child the freedom to love and have the best of partner.
I was excited to read this book and my expectations were not hampered by the plotline. Ayaan is a bachelor who enjoys his work and single life. He grew up in an upper-middle-class family. He is leading comfortable life while constantly juggling between his work and fun life. Sometimes, he finds his route of escape in the arms of beautiful girls and booze. Everything is going well in his bachelor's life. But, it seems good times in his life are about to end as his mother is forcing him to get married and get settle. It is the dream of every mother to see her son being settled with a good wife and children, so like all Indian moms, Ayaan’s mother took the route of emotional blackmail and forced Ayaan to meet a series of girls who could be his potential bride. Well, our Ayaan is frustrated after meeting a bunch of girls and trying to discover the personality of that individual over one meeting. What is the fate of our hero?
This had been a really interesting story. It is a fun read, and the characters truly reflect the instincts of typical Indian parents. It is typical family drama fiction. You might be expecting some romance in this, but my dear friend, you are signing up for the hell of a hide when you picked up the book. I loved the cover of the book; you can already get a hint regarding the plotline if you glance closely at the book cover. The author is a free soul who constantly likes to question the traditional social grid, so it is not a surprise that he picked up this topic as a subject of his book. I don’t want to spoil the fun by leaking any spoiler, so dive into this book to find out what happens with Ayaan in his venture to find his bride.
"There is no such thing as a perfect life or a perfect marriage or a perfect relationship. It has to be uniquely perfect for you, with all the bullshit and drama that comes along with it." I liked this quote the most from this book.
🦋 A tale of an arranged marriage is quite a nice, casual read. It is a story of a bachelor male whose mother suddenly decides that he is ready to get married and forces him go go for the arranged meetings. I liked the naming of the chapters such as "batata wadas", "mutton cutlet", " betel nut".
🦋It has a lot of humour, puns. But i really can't wrap my head around how i feel about this book. It will make you feel like this is a very easygoing read while making you reflecting on what's severely wrong with our society and it's expectations from people in their late twenties-early thierties.
🦋It has perfectly adressed a lot of societal issues concerning the whole peer pressure that comes with the word " marriage".
🦋I felt at ease with the elements of humour in this book. Simultaneously, i felt triggered when it came to self- reflection. It has a lot of self- exploration of the protagonist.
🦋The author has really tried potraying the problems that are supressed in our society in the name of traditions. Not evryone understands the agony, the residual effect of every arranged meeting of two potential candidates, the unfulfilled hopes of the parents.
🦋Well about the ending, the book will build a lot of hopes of a happy ending. Spoilers reserved, you should get your hands on the book.
The plot of an arranged marriage is a thing which every single one of the readers must have at least encountered once. It is the concept which never gets old or redundant.
This is a trope that is designed in such a way that it is bound to bring together our hero and heroine, who otherwise would have never even looked at each other twice if they crossed paths. Also, another prominent thing which we see in this is that the leads don't go out looking for each other, but rather the destiny pits them together.
Based on similar concept is the book, ‘A Tale of Arranged Marriage’ by Pranav Rao where our main protagonist, Ayaan is like so many others of our generation, who is happy where he is in his life and does not want things to change as he has fallen quite in to the pattern of things.
As would be encountered in most of the households, we have a nagging mother, who starts pestering and making plans for her son and how his life should be as soon as he reaches a certain age.
To soothe his mom, Ayaan tries to partake in what she has planned for him, but the tedious process of meeting potential brides and the sometimes funny situations which ensued as a result of it was something quite entertaining.
This was not a typical tale of arranged marriages, and the lead does not just suddenly change his beliefs and thoughts as he meets someone, but rather stays firm in what he has faith in, which might have resulted in somehwat unconventional ending. I am going to give this book FIVE ARRANGED STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
" Instead of teaching youngsters the solid policy of no gloving, no loving! They get commanded, girls especially, into following the policy of no wedding, no bedding!"
BOOK: A Tale of Arranged Marriage AUTHOR: #pranavrao GENRE: #fiction #contemporaryfantasy PUBLISHER: Lead Start RATING : 🌟
A Tale of Arranged Marriage, the story revolves around a yongster named Ayaan and his prospective brides. In the market, he hinself labels him as a "catch" , he might be a little arrogant hence. He finds fault with most women he meets, he rejects without much regrets. As much as he doesnt want to be forced into meeting women his mother coddles him into meeting new women for marriage. In the marriage field both men and women are pawns they are obliged to move according to the likes of their parents to an extend. It shows how much influence Indian parents has on their children.
I found this book to be loosely written based on some real events. This book had neither a proper starting nor an ending. It was all about Ayaan and the many women he met. So I personally dont feel this book had any story, but I found good rating for this book in amazon and goodreads. You can check it out and see if you like it or if you have the opinion I have.
- There are many out there who have found success in their career life, have found a balance between work and family, and have amazing friends to have fun with. At such a stage, one seldom looks for change. It is the same with Ayan, this story's main character. Been reached the marriageable age, he gets pressurized by his family to tie the knot. He is in his mid-twenties. Soon he was thrust into a crazy and exhausting process of meeting women selected by his mother. This leads to chaos in his peaceful life.
- The story continues to show, in a hilarious manner, Ayan's struggle in managing this new challenge. Will Ayan choose a woman or will he opt for something else entirely? This contemporary book takes us on his journey as he explores this side of the upper-middle-class society norm.
- In a span of 11 chapters, the author gives a detailed and funny account of how arranged marriages generally take place and what all goes into it before it is brought to fruition. I loved the last chapter which gives us a deeper perspective of how Ayan thinks, which is to be admired. The book also challenges the social norms that force people to marry in their twenties even if one is not ready for it.
- Overall, it is a simple read. It is well-paced. It is a short read, I was able to finish it in a single sitting. The characters have been portrayed really well. The world-building is quite good. The chapter titles are unique and after a point, I looked forward to understanding how they related to the particular chapter. Recommended to those looking for a simple, entertaining read.
“A tale of arranged marriage” is the story of Ayaan, a newbie businessman in his twenties, who according to his mother has finally come of age for marriage and hence had to undergo the tedious process of meeting women and looking for that perfect wife. With a modern outlook on life that doesn’t believe in arranged marriages, a bunch of friends to rely on, and a headstrong mother he can’t refuse, Ayaan is faced with the biggest dilemma of his life – to listen to his heart or his mother? Pick up this book to know more about Ayaan’s choices and his story.
When I first picked up the book, I was anticipating a fun, laugh-out-loud kind of story, which to some extent it was, but somewhere it lost the flow in the story.
The beginning of the story felt promising with the friendly banters and quirky dialogues, however, the story became repetitive towards the end. I liked the simple language used in the book which makes it a beginner-friendly read.
The idea behind the story was cool but I think the execution could have been better. Also, there were a few instances of body shaming which I didn’t like at all. I think that could have been avoided.
There was an interesting mix of characters in the story which I enjoyed and out of all, I liked the character of Meera the most. The simple cover and the title go well with the story.
Ayaan is your usual spontaneous and free spirited fellow. His usual routine includes hanging out with his friends in their usual bars, some whisky and sometimes a little company from unknown women. Everything was going smoothly until his Mother started looking for a girl for him to marry. Now what Aryan hated most was settling down and with his Mother going in a frenzy accepting one proposals after another. At that point his stress and frustration was reaching its peak. As a result this leads to his Journey of meeting all types of girls. He is more than sure that, at this moment work is what matters the most. Will he succeed in keeping off marriage or will he actually reluctant to marry. This story perfectly potrays the realities of most Indian families. We hear these types of stories mostly from women but in this case our protagonist is a man. Throughout the story our protagonist meets various women who inform him that the arrange marriages are quite normal as they are pestered about these all the time. It is a sad to how the Indian Society works but that is the actual reality. Really loved the simple yet comedic element of the story. The usual family bickering and the teasing of his close friends. All of these small things that makes everyone lives livelier and relatable are a part of this story. Each and every character in the story had their own color and it was such an experience to read through the perspective of the protagonist. It was a very fun read and I really recommend this book if you're ready for a fun rollercoaster ride. If you enjoy any content with family rom-coms definitely check it out.

My Thoughts:
Plot is very relatable to almost all of us as we ourselves might have gone through or will be going through this phase where the search of a prospective bride or groom. The story is engaging and at times will surely make you laugh.
Characters are well developed and relatable. Ayaan's mother is a typical image of an ideal Indian mother who wants to see her kid get married at the right age. The fact that at each step of our life there's always some or the expectation that our family members and/or our society has from us which is nicely depicted through this story.
Language is simple and lucid. The book cover is beautiful and is apt to the plot. The title of the book is also apt to the plot.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I would surely recommend this book to all.

✍This book is for all young men approaching marriage age. There are two forms of marriage: love marriage and arranged marriage. In a love marriage, the boy and girl already know one other, but in an arranged marriage, especially in India, it's like a marriage of two families because the boy and girl's families meet first, then they allow the boy and girl to meet and converse for a few minutes before deciding to marry. Arranged marriage is a procedure that all Indians are familiar with.
✍Ayaan is the primary character in this story. Who is of marriageable age and whose parents are pressuring him to marry. Ayaan, on the other hand, is only concerned with his career. He is not fully dedicated to the marriage. For him, her mother saw a lot of girls. His parents occasionally accompany him to see the females. But none of them appeal to Ayaan. Now the question is whether Ayaan will be able to find his soul partner or not?
✍The author's narrating manner is excellent. He talked about the things we learned about arranged marriage from our Indian family. He emphasises the guys' views on marriage and what they believe about it. This narrative is both amusing and intriguing. The author demonstrates how our parents persuade us to marry. And that portion is both hilarious and incredible. Finally, the plot is both simple and beautiful. You should have a look at it.

The language seems fine and the smooth narration keeps you engrossed in the storyline. It is less predictable and you may get curious to know what happens next. Overall, it would be a good pick if you are looking for a light read.
The story is a typical family drama, in which we meet Ayaan who belongs to an indian family his life is perfectly settled his job, his flirting with girls, hanging out with friends and lovable parents, until one day his lovable mother becomes a detective and started searching for a suitable match for his son. Seeing this Ayaan reacts in a negative way as according to him it was too early to get married. But as we all know indian parents logic: once you get married you become responsible automatically. Will Ayaan get a suitable match. What all goes in this family drama is more interesting. The book is fast paced, I like it. It was a fun read with a story full of family drama and all the issue which as an unmarried we face in an indian family. Narration:
Author has narrated in simple and easy language. The book is filled with laughter and humour. Author has done justice to all the characters of the book. I personally loved Ayaan's mother. This book is recommended! Coming to the cover and the title of the book, both reflects the plot of the book perfectly. Overall a wonderful read! Enjoyed reading it.
