I received Icarus Flight School as an Advanced Reader Copy.
I gave this book three stars because, while I didn’t completely dislike it, it is probably not a book I will re-read. Personally, I did not enjoy the real-world politics of the story. If you are going to create a crazy world in which the government trains teenagers to be spies, create a crazy villain that wants to dominate the world. Don’t blame real-world events like school shootings on a Russian spy organization. However, like I said, that’s just me personally: I read fiction to get out of the real world for a little while.
On a more technical note, I had issues with the flow of the story. I understand this was originally published as episodes through Kindle Vella. It showed at some points. It read as though the author wrote it in episodes (therefore sometimes forgetting details from previous episodes) instead of writing the full story and releasing it in episodes. For instance, there were at least two times that Colonel Stone, who is in a wheelchair, got up and walked.
Personally, I much prefer Krissi Dallas’s Phantom Island over Icarus.
I became a fan of Krissi Dallas’s stories when I discovered her on Kindle Vella. I couldn’t read fast enough to catch up on the stories and fell in love.
So I was thrilled when I found out Icarus Flight School was being published as a full novel. This is an action packed, unpredictable sci-fi fantasy that is fresh and engaging.
Surprise twists kept me turning pages late into the night. Every chapter (so thankful they are short chapters!) left me hanging, desperate to know more. And the payoff ending was so worth the lack of sleep.
I truly did not see it coming! So I’m very excited to recommend IFS to you. It’s written to a YA audience, but don’t let that stop you! This 60+ nana enjoyed every word!
I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review was not solicited. Highly recommend!
Icarus flight school is an exciting teenage secret agent novel. With sweet romance & action plus a little mystery, it was a good clean read! Krissi always pulls the right heartstrings and makes for some great reading
While this story was very predictable, it had its pops of plot twists that came out of nowhere. I really enjoyed this story and I hope Dallas has plans for a sequel. I would love to see what comes next for the characters.
This book is on Kindle Vella! I love this book and the Author! This story is filled with suspense, excitement and a little love story all mixed together. Highly recommend.
ICARUS FLIGHT SCHOOL hits the ground running and never slows down! You will love the hard-working, overthinking Olivia and the mysterious (yet possibly broken) Luke as well as the rest of the cast of characters. This book feels like unlocking an escape room, clue by clue; you never know what twist is coming next!
Krissi is an exceptional author and puts an amazing amount of detail into this story. The pages are filled with heart-pounding, nonstop action and heart-stopping, clean romance, both of which hook you immediately and leave you flying through the chapters to see what happens next! I could not put the book down!
