True Blue Mysteries #2
Ice Cold Blue
Campbell McBride is now working for her father Bill as a private investigator in Murray, Kentucky. Xina Harrison wants them to find out what is going on with her aunt, Katherine Tyler. Katherine is a rich, reclusive author, and she has resisted letting Xina visit her for several years. Xina arrived unannounced, and Katherine was upset and didn’t want to let her in. When Xina did gain entry, she learned Katherine fired her longtime housekeeper. She noticed that a few family heirlooms previously on display have disappeared. Xina is afraid someone is stealing from her aunt or influencing her to give them her money and valuables. True Blue accepts the case, and the investigators follow a twisting path to the truth.

My husband, Jim, and I moved to his birth state, Oregon, for a while after we were married, but decided to move back to Maine and be near my family. It allowed our six children to grow up feeling close to their cousins and grandparents, and some of Jim's family have even moved to Maine!
Our children are all home-schooled. When Jim retired from his vocation as an editor at a daily newspaper, we moved from Maine to Kentucky.
I've always loved reading, history, and horses. These things come together in several of my historical books.
Another longtime hobby of mine is genealogy, which has led me down many fascinating paths. I'm proud to be a DAR member! Some of Jim's and my quirkier ancestors have inspired fictional characters.
For many years I worked for the Central Maine Morning Sentinel as a freelancer. This experience was a great help in developing fictional characters and writing realistic scenes. I also published nonfiction articles in several magazines and had several short stories appear in Woman's World, Grit, and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine.

I read the first book in the series and couldn't wait for book 2. I was not disappointed. Again the True Blue detective agency have a mystery to solve.
Xina is worried about her Aunt who she hasn't seen for a few years and when she does she is cold and doesn't want to see her. She goes first to the police where Police detective Keith gives her the True Blue detective agencies address. Here Campbell and her Father Bill start to investigate and find more than they expected.
The agency is now getting more work thanks to the first big case and Campbell is enjoying this work which is a change from her Teaching position. We also see their employee Nick again. This book had a lot of twists and turns and it wasn't till later in the book I guessed one part of the mystery but didn't see all the pieces till the end.
I love the interaction between Campbell and her father. Seeing the banter between her and Nick is fun even if he gets under her skin a lot of the time. Also seeing the developing friendship between Campbell and Keith and hoping it will continue to grow.
I love the pacing and the fact there are stories inside the main story. I can't wait till the next book is released. A great start to the year. I know I am being vague but I don't want to give any spoilers away. You need to read them yourself.
If you like Mysteries without heavy suspense I am sure you will enjoy this book.

A superb second installment in the True Blue Mysteries series. The mystery is very intriguing and while not surprised at the reveal, I felt it was well done. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the relationship between Campbell and her dad, Bill, which we only had a small glimpse of in the first book. The interaction between Campbell, Bill, and Nick at the investigating agency is delightful as well. Add in the local detective, Keith, and his developing relationship with Campbell it makes for an all around engrossing book. I’m definitely looking forward to future installments in this great series.

Ice Cold
So many things I like about this book -the characters, the father - daughter dynamic, the commitment to a story told without cursing and with a moral base and the author. However the length due to repetition and the way the mystery was solved in my mind very early in the book took my rating down. Zina seemed so needy and I didn't quite understand why the bad guys did what they did and further pulled my interest down. I'm sure I'll read the next installment, hoping for a little more mystery.

Great story
I am really enjoying this series and look forward to the next installment. I enjoy the cozy mystery format and this one is excellent, as True Blue Investigations collaborate to solve a real puzzle. Campbell McBride is learning the ropes of investigation from her dad, Bill. Alongside the police detective Keith Fuller, they dig through the clues until the truth is revealed. Read in order because there are references to the previous book throughout.

another great read
I love the way she creates her characters and keeps the plotline moving. Her newest case is involves Xia Harrison who is concerned about her aunt, who is a famous mystery romance writer. When Xia comes in unannounced, her Aunt Katherine asks her not to come back again. She asks Campbell and her father’s detective agency to see what is going on. The more they investigate, the more questions come into view.

Favorite mystery writer's trick. Perp not known 'til end of book. Loved it.
I gave it one less than five stars, because there were a few typos, etc, and it bogged down a bit in the middle. Romance part processing nicely, though. When can we enjoy another in this series?

This is one of the best mysteries I have read in a long time. This had so many twists and turns and kept me wondering what was going on throughout the entire book. It was a good mystery with no unnecessary foul language.
My only regret is that I wish there was a third book.

This second book in the True Blue Mysteries series did not disappoint me; in fact, the plot twist caught me SO off-guard!!! I love Susan Page Davis for clean suspense (sometimes you have enough imagination not to need all the gory details) and she excels at fast-moving story lines and engaging characters as well. Thank goodness I have the third book waiting for me on my stack of books!

A very complicated mysterty.
This story have parts that went 50 years and it did include many characters within those years. I really like the main characters and look forward to the next book. I wonder if their will be new characters to the next book that will be added to the main characters.

A good follow-up
A good clean read and it held my attention. The romance was held to a minimal and what romance there was wasn’t sappy.
I look forward to book three, hopefully it won’t be a long wait.

The Novel
What-a-mystery! This one kept me absorbed. I didn’t figure it out at all! I hope you can. The reveal is just too good. Campbell figured it out but didn’t tell. Wow, this was good!

another good mystery from Susan Page Davis
Even though I guessed part of the solution near the beginning the book kept me reading to see how it would all come together

I enjoyed following Campbell McBride as she leaves her career as a college English professor to join her father's PI agency, True Blue Investigations. I love the strong father/daughter relationship. The tension between Campbell and her father's assistant, Nick Emerson, adds to the story, as does the romance developing between Campbell and Detective Keith Fuller. It seems they keep coming up with dead ends in their attempt to solve a murder and a break-in, and to discover the reason for the changed behavior of their client Xina Harrison's Aunt Katherine, a successful author who has published no new books for three years. It ends with an interesting twist. Be sure to read Blue Plate Special, the first book in this series.
