Will the loud clunking noise of roller skates become a problem for Emma? I'm rooting for her to have a great experience... at everything.
Gearing up is easy for the girl with the Cochlear Implant (CI) Her mandatory helmet fits over it nicely.
But keeping her balance on those skates is hard.
Still, one of the qualities I admire most about Emma is her courage. With her friend Izzie helping Emma to learn, a super-clever idea from Izzie helps a LOT!
FIVE STARS of fun. This book serves as a reminder to us all that courage pays off.

Emma is a little girl who is deaf and wears a cochlear implant. Her family and best friend sign to her. She loves her pet goldfish Ruby! In this book, she learns to Rollerskate!
The text of this book includes finger spelling words, and the end of the book includes illustrations and descriptions of how to sign ASL signs related to the story. We learned signs for “dance” and “friend!”
My four year old enjoyed this book, and we’ve requested the whole series from our library.

Izzie is teaching Emma how to roller skate. It is hard for Emma and she keeps falling. Will Emma ever be able to skate?
I can't think of any other picture books out there right now about roller skating. Izzie's solution is a great idea, and she is a supportive friend to Emma. There are words throughout the book that have finger spelling versions and some further ASL words related to the story in the back of the book, so readers get to learn a little American Sign Language along with the story.

Emma wants to roller skate but she doesn't know how and she's really nervous. She goes out with Izzie to give it a try but falls over and over again. Will Emma be able to skate?
True to life, Emma falls and cries quite a few times in her first attempts to roller skate. But with each fall, there's Izzie by her side encouraging her, as well as Emma's own drive to not give up.

A cute book about perseverance when trying something new, and thinking outside the box to help someone.
I have enjoyed reading this series so far. Love introducing them to my D/HH students too!

Love this
Emma has a ci and through out the story words are spelled in sign. I really liked how it showed her doing normal every day things
