This is the third revised version of Painful and Happy which is a collection of essays written by Bai Yansong, a famous CCTV host and a senior news commentator. The book was first published 16 years ago and republished 6 years ago, creating a sales miracle of 1.5 million copies. The new edition of Painful and Happy is bundled with the special supplement My Days as An Entertainment Reporter which newly includes a series of little-known and in-depth interviews in tens of thousands of words. The interviewees include eight leading Hong Kong pop singers in 1990s, such as Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau, Sandy Lam, Grasshopper, Sally Yeh, Shirley Kwan, Beyond and Tats Lau. Today, it is the unreproducibly precious record. At the same time, it shows another side of Bai Yansong, a senior music lover other than a lead anchor and famous commentator. ""At that time, people were patient enough to listen and feel the deeper beauty."" Bai Yansong binds the book in the form of special supplement and uses music to record the era, thus more truly than text. In terms of book binding and layout design, the new edition Painful and Happy and Are You Living Happily Now are readjusted but they still continue the echo effect of ""companion volumes"", thus full of collection value.
