It's really a 4.5
I liked some stories better than others.

I used this storybook as a resource to help teach my ESL student better pronunciation, fluency and vocabulary. I found that it was really a great resource for this purpose and would imagine it would function the same for any beginner reader of English.

The stories were fun and interesting, even for an adult. The stories are easy to read for a beginner, especially with the help of a tutor. Furthermore, A Bag of Tricks offers a very useful phonics guide in the back of the book. The phonics guide alone is a useful tool to help familiarize one with certain key sounds.

This was a great teaching tool, but I would also recommend it simply for the fun nature of the folk tales themselves.
