I wish the author wrote in present tense rather than past tense!

This is a great introduction to the Apache tribe for lower elementary readers. The tone is very level throughout, with no leanings toward how the Native Americans were treated was not acceptable. I wish it had gone a little more into that, but I understand with it being aimed at young children, it does not.

The pictures-to-text ratio is just what I would want from a book for lower elementary readers.

There is a glossary in the back to explain bolded words from the text.
