14 books2 followersAngela Ashwin is a writer on spirituality and a speaker and retreat leader. Her latest book, Faith in the Fool: Risk and Delight in the Christian Adventure, came out in 2009, published by Darton, Longman and Todd.
Angela wrote her first book, Heaven in Ordinary, in 1985, about contemplative prayer in a busy life. Since then she has written many books and articles, and has produced a CD Rom and other publications concerning prayer and life with God.
Born in Birmingham, Angela graduated in Theology from Oxford University, and lectured in Old Testament Studies before spending seven years with her husband in Swaziland, Southern Africa, working with the church there. After their return to the UK, Angela combined writing and speaking with bringing up three children and being a vicar's wife in the North East of England. Some of her most popular books came out during this period, including the best-selling Book of a Thousand Prayers. She then worked for St Antony's Priory Ecumenical Spirituality Centre in Durham until 2004.
A new paperback edition of her Woven into Prayer: A Flexible Pattern of Daily Prayer through the Christian Year came out in September 2010. She and her husband now live in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, and she is a Lay Canon of Newcastle Cathedral.
