Hahaha pakshet.
Paborito ko yung historical revisionism vs historical distortion. Totoo naman na malaking kalaban ang misinformation. Kung mas "woke" at "learned" lang ang maraming tao, baka it's most fun in the Philippines na.
A beautiful reminder that we should never forget, the second installment of Tarantadong Kalbo is a glimpse of what transpired last 2021. A powerful work of art that will ignite your spirit and to continue to fight for what you believe in, to continue standing and showing up when everyone needs it the most. Salamat sa patuloy na pagtindig!
I was really happy when I found out that my partner had ordered a copy of this second volume together with some Tumindig shirts to help round out our collection.
Based on the comics collected in this volume, I figure I was already following TK on social media in order to keep more up-to-date with his work. And still, it feels like there were so many comics in this volume that I hadn't encountered before, which speaks to TK's many, many updates. The speed at which he iterates and responds to current events through his comic art is rather amazing.
TK shows a great understanding of how to play with single-panel and 4-panel comics. They're often very editorial in nature but remain very clever and more of then than not funny. And these comics will make anyone familiar with the context and his references laugh, they also make you think. The humorous tone to things still helps to convey his perspective on different news items and developments in the country - and this shows a fine understanding of how to use this medium well.
Mabuhay ka, TK! I hope you continue to create unique comic art and speak truth to power in manner than only can.
Same as in volume 1, this is Mr. Raymundo's diary but this time for 2021. For some people, being the covid pandemic year 2, experiences from 2020 to 2021 knda melt into one giant hellmush, but read this book made me remember that oh, yeah those stuff happened. Chockful of callbacks & memes as usual, I enjoyed it, not sure if the less-socmed savvy can appeciate the layers. I haven't added it to my vol 1 review, but I find TK books not hahaha funny, but more dark funny. Satirical. Humor in bad times nga naman. By 2021, TK got famous, which is dangerous in this times. Good thing he stood his ground. The tumindig movement was one of the best things that happened in 2021.
