Great Story !! . . .

Lachlan Quinn's adventures will definitely hold your attention. Growing up around witches, Lachlan Quinn has no talent for manipulating magic himself, but he definitely can sense it being used around him. He also knew it was two witches doing the spell casting. He spotted the teenagers right away, hoping they were not after him. He was a small-time finish carpenter and furniture builder with PTSD. What about him would draw their attention? Then he remembered the letter he tossed, telling him he had to come to a reading of his foster father’s Will. As he played poker with his buddies, a summoning spell hit him. There was no point staying her because they would send something worse, so he left and figured he would never see any of them again.

This story line was excellent. It was fast-paced and the characters were described well. Quinn was so calm about everything he did, knowing what the spells were and just dealing with it. He denies being a good guy, but the reader quickly knows that he is. He has honor and pride in his work. And he cares about others. His journey is not nearly over, so grab your copy and see what’s coming his way. He has witches to deal with, some just hating him but one trying to kill him. There is also a shapeshifter that is going to need him. And a sentient forest has to be thrilling, no doubt about it. So grab your copy and hang on for the ride!

Great mix of heart, fun, and kick ass

I truly enjoyed this book. The writing is well done, the story is good, and there were only one or two editing issues.

The author did an excellent job of mixing humor, heart, the feeling of being wronged, and then the satisfaction of kicking some ass.

The MC is OP, but never really feels op until a bad guy needs to go.

Pick this up! This book is worth your time and money.

Compelling plot

I started this book for free online and liked it so much that I bought the Kindle edition to get the conclusion. Engaging story, compelling plot and well written, just a few grammatical errors, that were hardly noticeable. Mostly a dropped preposition here and there. I look forward to future books from Peter K. Young.

a great start

Quinn is a bit of a mess. PTSD, A former Sailor who was “Nursemaid” to Marines (That is what a Doc is). He is a good carpenter, who makes his post service living building. But he is called back to Emory to settle a debt. A lot of debts. A life of Debts. and the books that follow will entice and entertain.

Excellent read

Fast paced, well thought out, please let there be another book coming. It's the fantasy version of Jack Reacher, lots of potential build up in this book ready for another without detracting from the storyline
