An Unborn Desire is a beautiful collection of short stories told in various perspectives and unique narratives. Each story was subtle and had immense depth. I enjoyed how the topics were myriad, and each character was unique to another. There was no repetitiveness, which was great and made the stories stand out.
Human emotions, once bound in strange circumstances can turn into something magnificent and this book was proof to just that.
The twists were really interesting and they were the ones I was always looking forward to. The whole experience after reading this book was wholesome and I would definitely look out for more of her works in the future.
The best part about reading a decent collection of stories rather than a full fledged novel is assimilation of various views ,themes and sometimes diverse characters and setup as well in a single book. I picked this one for the same reason as its title intrigued me and then the blurb only augmented my interest further.
It won't be an exaggeration if I tell that one thing that always held my attention and holds true for most people is the unanticipated twist in the tales which we dont see coming. All the stories in this book have this common aspect. Also they possessed a unique trait of varying pace at regular intervals which can be confusing for some and enchanting for others.
The cover is intricate and title is certainly something that pulls you towards it. The way author has infused soul ,spirit and energy into the characters with her trademark style of narration is something to watch out for. Also the way the tales brought out the emotional aspect of humans and present the uniqueness in each one of them was quite interesting to see. The vastness this work encapsulated surely has an enchanting impact on your psyche.
"Whenever I hear chronicles of love, they all begin with hesitation, then they develop into an act of submission. All these tales end badly and lovers are left with anguish of being apart. Is there such a thing called love, a spiritual craving, that destiny truly supports?' . An Unborn Desire is a collection of short stories of diverse emotions, culture, geography and era with unpredictable twists that would keep the readers guessing untill the end. . The world is formed of people with different and unique stories of their own, belonged to a multitude of traditions stretched over an elongated geographical area. And with that, no two persons share exactly the same thoughts and feelings, co-incidence can be an exception. This book talks about those incidences which initially looked quite naìve but holds a deeper insight if we are able to connect the dots. Every story is unique and appealing in its own way expressing the unrequited love, faith, fear, disgust, longing and many other such aspects which makes the life going. The book is categorized into 4 different themes and a total of 15 stories, with few of them based on real life incidents. The first chapter is what the book is entitled with. Kiara and Kabir are going to meet her mother, who is a therapist and treating patients through the method of hypnosis and past life regressions. Kabir took a chance merely out of excitement to apply these methods upon him. The revelation had a deeper connection involving Kiara and was shocking beyond expectation. I admired the vastness in the book. The characters were well sorted. Beginning every chapter the narration felt slow, but with progression and the plot twist it was all worth it.
"What are you writing? A memoir. Of what? Life? Of memories. Of stories - half-forgotten and fully lived. Of people - dead, living, and the living dead, within and without me. And of love."

What held my attention the most was the gripping style of storytelling that breathed life into the characters as well as the stories. The language, even though simple, beautifully captured the spirit of the tales. The collection was a distinctive mix of real and fictional stories which I really enjoyed. I also liked the abstract and vibrant cover of the book which aptly conveys the nature of human emotions.
Though each of the stories was unique, a few left me confused and bewildered at the end. Also, the simultaneous slow and fast pace sometimes made it a bit difficult for me to follow the stories. Apart from these, this was a unique and engaging read.
