This is an encyclopdia coverin public administration and public policy. Entries average 4 to 8 pages long. Candor xcompels me to admit that I was involved in this project, editing entries and--indeed--authoring a small number of entries myself.

That said, this is a contribution. For the person wanting to get a quick introduction to a variety of topics of interest and import, this serves a useful purpose. The volume is nearly 700 pages long. Its companion piece, Volume 2, fills out the picture more completely.

I have to confess upfront. I have an entry in this encyclopedia. This is an update to the original full encyclopedia. Entries are authored by a pretty solid array of experts in public administration and public policy.

Examples of entries (each running 4 to 6 pages long): Budget stabilization funds; Cooperative purchasing; Humanitarian intervention; John Rawls; Risk management; Urban planning and ethics.

A usweful addition to the original Encyclopedia. . . .
