Let me start this review with how much I adore not only this authors work but the heart she puts into her writing too. This was one wild ride for sure and very different from what I was expecting that’s for sure.

Laurie has been living in a shack for two months using this time as freedom but always knowing in the back of her mind that her jailer could return at any moment, take her back to her gilded cage so when Parker arrives she knows her time is drawing to a close and she will be forced to return to her own private horror story. But before that happens she knows that there is a chance of escape if only she can convince Parker to help her, but the time they spend together only shows her she is still capable of loving someone. Will he help her escape or will she return to her life of hell to lose herself after she’s already lost her heart?

Parker knee what he was doing the day he signed on the dotted line, working for Carlos was something he needed to do, but what he finds shocks even him. Agreeing to return the woman Carlos wants is his mission, he takes one look and falls for her so hard and fast he knocks him off his feet. This woman has secrets and fear in her haunting eyes, can he really return her to a man he believes is a monster. He must decide between love and the mission he set out to complete in the first place but when his hand is forced before he’s ready will he make it in time or has he waited too long?

Ok now the warnings there are definitely things that are triggers in this book, with references to prostitution and drug use as well but if you love a book with intrigue, retribution and a love to heal then look no further. Highly recommended read and I’m hoping there are many more books in this series to come. I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book. 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The story starts with Laurie and Parker reluctantly become instant attraction and lust at each other. Laurie is a firewatcher at the outlook. Parker is a new employee showing up to take her back to the boss/her boyfriend and replace her at the outlook. They spend the weekend together due to heavy rain and Laurie’s refusal to leave. A lot of loose pieces make you wonder: why she is angry and afraid to go back, why he wants to be an employee there, what are the odds to the physical resemblance between Parker and his boss, etc. Then the story takes a darker turn. Drugs, abusive relationship, fear and blackmail exchanging for loyalty, twisted sex come out. It is exhilarating to literally blow the devil into pieces, even though it seems a little overkill to use a grenade on one person in a close proximity. A lot of twist and turns eventually lock down the loose pieces….. Hmm maybe still a couple slipping away. All in all, this is quite a romantic suspense. It makes you think and it surprises you.

Laurie found herself in a horrific state with Carlos. She thought since he helped her out of her state of despair he cared about her. Laurie soon learned who he truly was as a person. He was degrading her with his weird and twisted obsession and ownership mentality. Parker who was ex-military was hired to bring her back to Carlos. The moment Parker and Laurie saw one another the attraction was evident. He seemed to be the person she needed to help her out of her current situation and understand the meaning of true love. Although Laurie and Parker were hiding things from one another, their feelings for each other didn’t change when all was revealed. They just had a huge obstacle in their way.

This story had some dark and twisted moments. It started off a little slow for me but when it picked up, I couldn’t put it down.

Complex and exciting romance

Very good romance full of mystery, psychological manipulation, very well written and very hot.
The story is quite mysterious from the start, because the two characters do not know what to expect about Carlos who seems to be a very rich man who has held prisoner and then temporarily exiled the heroine Laurie, (but nobody knows the reason why) and who hired the hero Parker, to bring her back and exchange their post. At least that's what was said to Parker. Neither of them knows whether the other is lying or not, if they can trust each other, especially since a very strong attraction develops quickly between them.
Parker is lost in one another’s supposed lies and must choose whether to take Laurie back to his supposed executioner or savior.

This certainly was a spellbinding story of Laurie who was trapped in a relationship if you could call it that, with the twisted and corrupt Carlos and she meets Parker who works for him. This is a dramatic somewhat twisted story, very well written with characters you cant help but enjoy; but also one to hate. This brought up mixed feelings on this one, not enjoying anyone being used, and manipulated, so the premise was a little dark in places. I liked the chemistry between Laurie and Parker. This series had been really great and well worth the read.

Laurie was hiding out in a fire tower. Why? Who was she hiding from? Parker, who was ex military, was sent to retrieve her by his new boss, Laurie's ex-boyfriend. Laurie didn’t want to go back. This story was filled with deception, mystery and intrigue. Parker was trying to figure out what was going on? Parker felt something for Laurie. There was an electricity between Laurie and Parker. Was Parker really going to take her back? He begin to question what was told to him. Was everything based on deception? This story was cloaked in mystery, deception, danger, passion, and lust. It is a page turner!

This book is absolutely fantastic! A story of danger, lies and deceit, Laurie tries to escape Carlos's clutches but is never able to get away. Parker has come looking for revenge and poses as a potential employee. His task, bring Laurie back to Carlos. However, the more he learns the more confused he becomes. Knowing that someone is lying but not sure who, he needs to decide if he will help Laurie or not. When he does learn the truth, he will stop at nothing to do what needs to be done to save one being held against their will.

The next book in the 'wild weekend" series and Lexi has managed to come up with a fresh plot behind the wild weekend. Laurie thinks she has escaped her Ex unti Parker arrives to take her back to him. What you don't get with this book is why Laurie doesn't want to go back to her ex Carlos until a lot later in the book after Parker has taken her back. What you do get is a sense of forboding that Laurie really shouldn't go back to Carlos, and that yes there was something very toxic about him. I did enjoy how the plot developed and how other characters we had met in previously made cameo appearances.

I loved the way Parker ended up rescuing Laurie from the clutches of Carlos.
The suspense and drama ran high as Carlos was pulling their strings from the get go, and it took a while for Parker to untangle the strands.
Laurie was a strong likeable character that had been victimized by Carlos for years. Her attraction and chemistry with Parker was off the charts and many a steamy scene ensued.
Great ending and conclusion as this passionate and desperate couple fought for their HEA.

Whether or not I am going to like the book depends on the leading man and his state of mind and behavior in the first couple of pages. Parker convinced me right away. Thankfully Laurie was also a very good character to read about. I loved the chemistry between these two, loved the fact that it was a dual first person point of view. A great read.

Laurie and Parker had two great days together before Carlos tried to use mind games on Parker. Loved the characters Laurie and Parker. Carlos is an evil mind manipulator especially on Laurie but he has to use drugs too. Thank goodness for Parker and Amaya who helps him see the light to help Laurie. I enjoyed reading this book and the one about Sawyer. Can’t wait for the next book.

Wow what a ride. Lexi keeps us on our toes with this suspense filled story. Parker is sent by Carlos to bring Laurie back to him. When Parker finds Laurie, he is drawn to her but he doesn’t know who or what to believe. What length will he go to when he realizes who is telling the truth. If you like drama, suspense with twist and turns and plenty of heat then this is the book for you.

Laurie is in hiding. Parker is there to take her back to the man who imprisons her. Too bad, she doesn't want to go. This is a captivating short, sexy story that I'd recommend. There's plenty of character development, sexy scenes, and a diabolical bad guy that makes you want to know the rest of the story.

The author has given us characters we can care about. The story has twists and turns, danger, action and love/lust. Parker is hired to pick up Laurie and return her to his boss. Even though he has his own agenda, once he meets Laurie everything changes.

If you can't handle insta-love and need something more drawn out and angsty, go on and skip this one.
If short, sweet/sexy is your jam, this book is right up your alley!

I felt that the author had the ability to convey some depth to the personalities of the characters bringing a greater sense of reality to her story, which is tough to do in a shorter read.

#10 of the One Wild Weekend With-series and it’s another great one!
Parker is hired to bring Laurie back to his boss, her manipulative ex, Carlos. But Laurie and Parker are attracted to each other the minute they lay eyes on each other, which complicates things and also leads to some very hot scenes.
This story is quite intense. I really enjoyed the suspenseful storyline and how everything came together in the end.

Parker interviewed for a position at Carlos' company. After signing a non-disclosure document he went to fetch Laurie at a remote lookout station. I think that Lexi Hart has pulled out all the stops to bring us this book that besides grabbing my interest from the beginning, kept me guessing what Parker was investigating and what the outcome would be for Laurie.
The sentence that stuck in my mind throughout was: "If you were mine, you wouldn't have wanted to leave in the first place." I absolutely loved this book. This book exceeded my expectations.

Signing a contract what everybody did when they worked for Carlos. Parker was on a trial basis to bring Laurie back from the outskirts of town from a lookout point. More like a fire fire tower. So Parker is given minimal details about what he should expect when he needs to retrieve Laurie from the fire tower. He can’t tell heads or tails who’s telling the truth. Carlos has manipulated the whole situation. Parker can’t make our heads or tails about who’s telling the truth. But where this fire tower is of course there’s no cell service. There’s specific stipulations that need to be fulfilled and if not you were automatically terminated. This love at first sight for Parker he wasn’t really sure why he was attracted to Laurie. Laurie thought he was a dead ringer for Carlos. Having denied a lot of things that Carlos supposedly was to give her with all of his money it was kind of difficult for her to figure out if Parker was going to make a return to the house. This was a weird suspense cloak and dagger kind a story. There were a lot of steamy scenes but with a certain point I see my manipulation in order to get information out of Laurie or Parker. I got confused. But of course it all comes out in the end hopefully because hanging out in the fire timer for two months with no connection other than the local check out times would make my skin crawl. No cliffhanger.

a bit bizarre - This was a bit far. A decent read but quite short. The story follows Laurie and Parker. They have an instant attraction to each other. Laurie is a firewatcher at the outlook. It became too unbelievable.

I never believed in love at first sight, until this morning. Parker, ex Navy Seal, is hired by Carlos, whom he doesn't meet before the assignment to bring Laurie back. From his very first interview he is wary, borderline suspicious. But he takes the assignment hoping for approval and an 'in' to Carlos, himself. Laurie, is unexpected. He is surprisingly attracted to her. He asks questions, but doesn't get clear answers. He knows something is not right, but he makes a lot of assumptions. Carlos, spins a different story than Lauri. When he meets Carlos, he notes the resemblance. He also realizes Carlos' power and wealth. Parker has a mission within a mission. This story was a difficult read. I'm not a major fan of this particular book it has allot of things going on plot on top of plot a mystery surrounding why Parker a Navy Seal looks so much like a criminal Carlos or as I refer to him the Nasty lying abusive Ex. Laurie she's in the middle of know where in a fire watch tower perfect place to stay away from Carlos until he sends in his look alike to retrieve her she's not going anywhere. Now there's a storm there trapped and the sexual tension builds. Carlos will go nuts if he finds out Parker and Laurie slept together. Parker doesn't trust either Laurie or Carlos fully and with know cell service how is her supposed to get answers both of them are being secretive but so is Parker they all have something to hide. Explosive ending plenty of tension but its still and okay read.

The warning was needed - it’s dark, but steamy

The author’s warning was correct and needed. The story line is very dark in many ways: drugs, imprisonment of a sort, criminal activity, etc.

The positives: the strength of Laurie and Parker and their story; the steamy sex between them; the vivid descriptions of the lookout environment. The negatives: Carlos, the use of the drugs, the general ugliness surrounding Laurie, the way depiction of the guards’ behavior seemed forced and somewhat trite.

I generally enjoy the older man, younger woman stories, but aside from one mention of a ten year gap in age, there was nothing that supported or exploited the age difference. There was little to no detail about the events that were the reasons for the way the various characters behaved. I have enjoyed other books by this author; unfortunately this one was a disappointment.

One Wild Weekend With Parker is the tenth book in the "One Wild Weekend" series but all are stand-alone stories. This one is about Laurie and Parker. This story is fast-paced with a mystery, some drama and a lot of chemistry between the two of them. There were a lot of twists and turns along the way which added to the excitement of it. Even though the story is far fetched it is still a very entertaining and intriguing novella with good characters. I enjoyed this book in the series and like the author's writing and storytelling styles.
