I've never been to China, but had heard various first-hand accounts from friends who lived there and also witnessed demonstrations by Chinese dissidents.
Having also read a fair bit about the USSR and Communism in general, Rafael Fontana's book
served as a catalyst, unifying many of these disparate accounts I had about China.
Written as his first-person account of his time in China, the narrative flows and haunts, and it reminded me a lot of "Bad Blood", only here the scam - and the suffering - is much much bigger.
Many will certainly peg many of his assertions as conspiracy theories, and, honestly, I think it'd be much better for us if that were the case.
