This was my first mermaid book, and it didn't disappoint.
Seren's life is turned upside down by the people she was supposed to trust. She has to pick herself up and rebuild everything with the odds stacked against her. She finds her strength and pushes through everything her kingdom throws at her. On the way she meets some men who she was able to prove her worth to, and show them how wrong their perception of her was.
I'm excited for book two, and seeing where these relationships end up!

Echoes in the Ocean is a thrilling and exciting new series by Sadie Jacks!
Sadie has created a new underwater world with merpeople that live in kingdoms ruled by royalty. In this book we meet Seren, who was a good soldier, until her world was turned upside down and she lost her job and everyone believed she was crazy. The story was captivating and held many mysteries, lies and secrets.
I loved the characters. Some were mysterious but I loved how they all revolved around Seren. Seren despite having her life ruined, was caring, kind and always helped anyone that needed help. She is sassy, strong and fierce but is also funny.
The author did a great job creating and developing the different species that had their own language and I really enjoyed storyline.
If you love dark paranormal romance with mermaids and a captivating and intriguing story, then you should check out this amazing book!

My first mer story and it has set the bar VERY high. The world and character building in Echos in the Ocean were amazing. I could picture Seren, the beautiful, strong men 😉😉 around her and the kingdom they were fighting both for and against. The book deals with so much: loss of a parent, work pressures, feeling like an outcast, love and affection, political intrigue, aliens and portals between worlds.
My heart is breaking a bit at the moment; I’m desperate to find out what happens next as these characters build their relationships and face the world together.

This was my first mer book. So took me a little time to understand and follow. It's a slow burn rh with multiple water being from different worlds that any sci-fi rh fan would enjoy as well. Greek mythological pokes its head in the mix as well.
The fmc struggles break your heart. While the mcs some at times you want to strangle one or two at the beginning but by the end they all are devoted to her. The sad cliffhanger makes me need answers.

I have just finished this book and I want the 2nd!
The book was slow going at the beginning but I glad I kept reading as it was amazing!!
I loved that Seren was such a strong character. I do have a bit of a soft spot for Conlan and Neron.
I 100% recommend this book. Definitely make note of the translations at the front of the book.

I was lucky to receive this as an ARC, and is the first mermaid book that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. OMG! Sadie Jacks has done it again, with this absolute banger. I loved every bit of it and was mesmerised by the beautiful Seren and all the other mer people, and creatures living in this underwater wonderland. This story is full of emotions and sucks you in from the get-go........I can’t wait for book #2!! A MUST READ!!!

Wow! I didn’t know what to expect and this one does surprise. There is a lot going on and is a tad bit confusing at first. But as I read I started falling in love with the characters. They are written in such detail and the emotions are described in such amazing ways. Seren is the main character but there are a slew of side characters. Some you will love and others you will love to hate. I’ve never read a mer story anything like this. It blew me away and I can’t wait for the second book.

I really enjoyed this book overall. It was a little difficult to understand at first but it quickly takes off with amazing world-building and interesting characters. It was my first mermaid story (that wasn’t Disney) and it did not disappoint. Seren is such a strong FMC. She consistently gets back up after getting knocked down and made to be almost be an outcast in her hometown. I love that she worked for the equivalent of the mermaid navy. It is slow burn but the relationships that develops between her and the men, who are various mer creatures was so intriguing. I cannot wait for the next book to see how her story develops.

I loved this first book in the Obsidian Hollows series and I cannot wait for book 2.
Seren's life just seems to be turned upside down constantly and she has absolutely no idea why it keeps happening. She just doesn't realise there is more at play.
I loved the underwater world Sadie has created and the book as a whole was a huge surprise for me as I have never read anything quite like it.
The characters are all amazing and so well thought out and I cannot wait to see what happens next following the ending to book 1.

Not your average merstory!
A little sci fi, a little pnr, a little rh... you can't go wrong!

OMG this is awesome. The blurb got me intrigued but the story is so good! I'm beginning to love the darker stories so much. The beginning was a little hard but once I got through it totally blew my mind. I enjoyed the mermaid story told very different, no glitters and sunshine but something much darker. Nice for a change. Seren is a great caracter and is surrounded by many others. Some you want to punch in the face and others you'll absolutely love. Excited for the next!
