ABOUT THE BOOK
The Legacy of Wisteria House is a riveting novel that takes the reader from the icy streets of Denver to the blossoming springtime in the Texas Hill Country. Filled with nostalgia, anticipation and suspense, this feel-good page turner by Nancy Summers stays with the reader long after it’s finished.
Nancy Summers is another new author around the block and "The Legacy of Wisteria House" is her debut novel. I actually opted to read this book seeing the cover of the book and thinking it to be a nice, breezy love story; it seems I was totally mislead. The book totally focuses on Victoria - a woman who lost her husband a year ago and has finally started to get her life together again.
Unexpectedly, she is stalked by one of the men she had gone a few dates with and had restraining order against. All too soon, strange things happen to her and also in her house leaving her absolutely scared and at her wit's end. This situation prompts her to flee from Denver to Texas, when she receives a letter from an attorney in Texas, asking her to get in touch with him, regarding the resolution of a will.
Little does she know that 'she has jumped from hot water to a frying pan, as she says herself. Because trouble has followed her to Texas as well and she finds herself in a very intriguing situation. The reader gets to know what is happening to Victoria and the reasons behind it as the story progresses.
Author Nancy Summer's writing style is well- defined with elaborate descriptions. Her characters have good depths, as much as to make the reader care for them. Inspite of the story having many thriller elements, the story maintains a lighter tone throughout, with a romance interwoven into the story. The romance part of the story was not excellent but it was not bad too. There are some intimate scenes which have been written tastefully and gives a romantic suspense flavor to the story.
There were many elements in the story which were highlighted earlier in the story and were tied up later cleverly towards the end. There are no loose ends left and the author has made a great attempt at telling a clever and intelligent story.
I would call it an excellent attempt by the author and I liked it very much. It is quite a small book with just around 220 pages and is a quick read. If you are into small, lighter romantic suspense/ thrillers, then you could definitely try this book out.

The Legacy of Wisteria House combines mystery and a surprise sprinkling of intimacy. This new writer's style reminds me of a combination of Debbie Macomber's happy endings and the A to Z "alphabet series" by Sue Grafton but with a twist of romance. I think readers of both authors will enjoy this new book. Each chapter moves you effortlessly through the story of Victoria returning not just to a charming mansion, so eloquently described with "wisteria climbing the porch columns", "a colorful garden", and "morning glories blooming in the early mist", but also to an incomplete past.
Victoria returns to her childhood grounds to claim an unexpected inheritance. The acquisition is not that simple. Readers can relate to any one of the familiar themes of feeling alone in the world after a significant loss, sibling rivalry, first kiss, lost love, family members who are not really family and vice versa, the family secret no one discusses, the missed opportunity that could have changed many lives and the one that got away. There is still room for the tall handsome protector, little Rachel and the cat, Mr. Allison, that leads the way out. I am looking forward to reading more material from this author. I did not find any loose ends that were not cleared up by the end of the book.

Things are not going well in Victoria's life after trying to dip her toes in the dating pool after losing her husband she ends up with a stalker so when a letter arrived that gives her a chance to leave town for a while she takes it even if it is to the last place she ever wanted to return to. The shock of being left the house she always loved to visit when she was growing up is enough to deal with especially as she is of no relation to Alice Mercer, but she also dealing with Alice's children who are challenging the will. Fortunately her childhood friend Jordan is back living in town as a lawyer and she has a chance to reconnect with him trying to deal with everything going on including her stalker, someone trying to break into the house and working out what and where she wants to be in life. This is not just a romance and cozy mystery but also about finding your home, love, family secrets and danger as well as opening your heart to new friends and moving on from the past.

This is not your normal cozy mystery, this is more of a contemporary romance, women's fiction with mystery book. I have zero complaints and I am sure you will not either. The book follows a young widow as she deals with her troubles in life while living in Denver to her going back to her hometown in Texas, where she reawakens memories she tried to forget and her past she tried to ignore. From the very first page I was taken by the way the author told the story. The words flowed seamlessly and I found it is easy to become immersed in the story. The characters are so well developed, and with the way the story was told by the author, I was hungry for more of the mystery to unfold.
