Scarred pasts haunt bright futures.

A reformed hitman tries to right the wrongs of his dark past by saving a stranger from the clutches of a stalker.

Francis Ricci is a cold-blooded assassin. Correction…was a cold-blooded assassin. Now he’s legit—and, to be fair, it’s a good life. As the head of a top private security company, he’s gone from killing softly to protecting fiercely—especially all things family. So, when his sister-in-law finds a nanny but there’s not enough info for a background check, it’s him who hops on a plane to investigate the potential guard of the littlest Riccis.

Small-town girl Megan Walsh is ready to run away from a sad life and a serious stalker. She gets just that chance when Mr. Tall, Dark and Mysterious offers to take her to New York without a trace. Being a nanny might not be her dream job, but it’s a hop, skip and a jump away from her dream city…and just around the corner from her best-kept secret.

The intimacy of hotel rooms confirms a mutual attraction and, despite all arrows pointing to it being a horrible idea for them to date, Megan and Frankie’s relationship plows ahead. But scarred pasts haunt bright futures. And when the demons come calling, the couple will be forced to choose between who they want to be and who they truly are.

“When I’m around you, I feel like there’s some good in me and I like it.”

Force was a story of redemption and second chances. Frankie has turned his life around and is no longer a contract killer, but he still struggles with the acts he committed in his past. When he volunteers to do a background check on his brother’s new nanny, he finds himself drawn to Megan’s goodness and light. However, Megan has a dark secret herself that she is fighting to hide from the world.

“She had a softness that somehow comforted me.”

My heart broke for Frankie throughout this story. He really was a loving man, but he couldn’t see that in himself because of his past. Megan was able to bring out his softness and help him start to see that he deserved happiness in his life.

“He would never know how much his simple acts of kindness were easing the jarring transition in my life.”

Megan was such an unselfish and bright soul. She had a rough past, but she would sacrifice anything for those that she loved. Frankie helps her to feel safe and gives her the courage to begin a new life.

The Covington Heights series is full of drama and romance and Force was no exception. The connection between Megan and Frankie is instant and they will risk anything for each other. While the story took an unexpected turn, it was still showcased the beauty of their connection even in the face of pain and tragedy.

Deana did not disappoint with Frankie’s story. We get to see more of his snobby and cold exterior that he shows to everyone. The only people who know him are his family, Leo especially. They had a horrible childhood due to their father. Megan is innocent in the way the Ricci’s life. She needs a way out of her situation and being a live-in nanny is perfect for her to get away. Frankie wasn’t planning on having feelings for anyone besides his family. He is the protector of the family and he puts his protectiveness on Megan. Megan is the light to Frankie’s dark. They are absolutely perfect for each other. I have loved these Covington books and it is so great seeing how the other characters are doing. This is one book and series that I will read again and again.

Why me? What do you see in me? I have nothing to offer.”- Megan
“You’re sweet and kind and thoughtful in a way that I could never be. I need that goodness. I need that light inside you to pull me out—to make me better.“-Frankie

4.5⭐️

Frankie is a former hitman like his brother Leo (protagonist of the first book in the series), who now together with him and part of the Covington Crew runs a private security agency.
When Fiona is about to give birth she insists on hiring a nanny to help her and that is how Megan enters her life.
Megan has a stalker, her sister's ex, who doesn't hesitate to hit her and threaten her to tell him where her sister is hiding from her.
She, with the help of Frankie, manages to run away from him and begins her new life as a nanny.
She and Frankie start a relationship that goes from 0 to 100 in a matter of days, but when the stalker comes back into their lives, Frankie will have to make a choice between going back to being the man he was or moving on with his new bloodless life. .
I loved this series and its characters.

I enjoyed this story. The background characters are all interesting. While I didnt read the previous stories, I didnt feel like I missed out on anything with the relationships in this book.

So we get to Frankie and Megan. She is a completely naive character. Yes she helped her sister out of an abusive relationship, but it put her into one.
As for Frankie, I think that she did actually wind herself around his heart. For such a cold blooded murderer, he began to have emotions that caused him to stutter.

I really hated Ruby though, yes, she was abused, yes, she was in a survior programme and yes, Megan hid alot from her. But she was selfish. She was still alive, she could have walked out of the programme ona day trip and not returned. Instead she lashed out at Megan like a child.

Deana Birch doesn’t disappoint in the 4th book of this series. My favorite characters are not contradictions but have different sides to them and that is certainly true of Frankie. The Dark Angel, the kind but cranky snob. I absolutely fell in love with him from the start. I also liked Megan who is a little less complicated but also had a lot going on.

I don’t want to ruin any part of the story but if you have read any of this series you know to expect some twists and turns that might just give you heart palpitations. Or a few tears. I thought we had enough information in the first 25% so I didn’t mind not knowing where the story was going without being annoyed at my own confusion. A definite MUST READ!

I've only read one other book in the Covington Heights Crew, but each book I think can be read as standalones. This is Frankie and Megan's story. Megan is escaping an abuser, but with a twist. She decides to run and hide in NYC and become a nanny for Frankie's brother and his wife. But they cant get alot of background info on her, but Frankie's sister in law insists on hiring her. Frankie travels to Megans hoetown and watches and what he sees has him helping her get away. The more time they spend together the chemistry grows and the connection grows. There are twists, turns, steam, and more. This is well paced, well written solid read.

*** Free book for an honest review ***

This book starts off as white knight scenario (okay maybe not so white night knight). The H is this story is trying to live a good life and walk away from his past in doing so he meets the h. The characters could not be further apart with their lives but they managed to work their way thru every obstacle and the white gets his chance to shine. I found my self turning page after page as this story. I could not put this one down and I am confident that anyone who buys this book will become as immersed in this romance and will find themselves lost in the romance and feels of this book.

The books in the Covington Heights Crew series just keep getting better and better, and this one just proves it! I've loved each and every one as I've read them, and I honestly didn't think I'd love any of them more than I loved Lie, but this one is right up there with it!

Frankie and Megan were so perfect for each other, and it had a story within the story, so it kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. If you've read the other books in this series, this one is a must read! Definitely recommended!

Frankie used to be a hitman now he runs a private security company. He seems cold and ruthless to most but cherishes his family, especially his brother and his family. He volunteers to do a background check on the would-be nanny for his brother's kids. Megan is looking for a way out of her situation. She ends up accepting a nanny job and leaving for NYC with Frankie. The attraction between them leads to hotel hookups and dating. Will Megan's secret from her past prevent them from having a future?

Another amazing read by this author. Frankie and Megan will suck you in and keep you flipping the pages. Meagan has big dreams and a big secret and when she’s hired as a nanny, Frankie wants to do a thorough background check just to be sure. Frankie has turned his life around and has gone legit for once in his life. These two shouldn’t be together but the pull between them is there, but so is the secret that follows Megan. Great read, love this series.

I was really enjoying this book... right up until the near-end. Not only did a truly horrible incident occur that ruined it for me, but the sequence of events that led to it were incredibly unbelievable.

A sweet yet tragic story. Frankie’s is intense and trying to move on from the past. Megan leaves her small town and is trying to make it in the big city.

This story grabbed my attention and wouldn’t let go. I could feel the pull and connection that Frankie’s and Megan had. Another story great story by Deanna Birch that kept me on my toes. Then we get to the end and oh my stars that end was tragic yet beautiful. Don’t worry it’s a HEA and a must read.
