Hashem is a young man from a well-to-do Sunni family, who falls in love with Rihanna (who is from a poor but honorable Shi'a family) when she walks into his jewelry shop one morning. Hashem wants more than anything to marry Rihanna, but their different faiths prevent them from being able to do so. Rihanna has had a dream that prophecies the identity of the person she will marry; but it will take a miracle for the seemingly impossible situation to come to a satisfying resolution. Set in 14th century Arabia and based on a true event, this gripping story is full of suspense and intrigue whist to shed light on fundamental theological themes and intellectual and practical realities that are relevant to today's readers and to the modern era.
My friend FORCED me to read this book so I had high expectations but honestly if it wasn’t for how likeable the characters were I would have dropped it. I grew too attached to them. Such a short book but took me ages to finish.
The main character is so dramatic I had to put the book down multiple times to laugh at him😭😭😭😭. I already miss him. Arghhhh and I’m going to miss Qanwa so much even though I disliked her at first. It’s lacking in a few ways one being the grammar but it’s tolerable for sure (sometimes confusing). I usually prefer more realistic books but this was a fun read anyhow and had me emotional at times.
I love how this book incorporates a positive relationship while also strengthening one’s faith in religion. It is beautifully written, and shows how Allah can make anyone’s wishes and dreams come true.
