About the author

Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.

Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill.

This was going to be a 5⭐️ read, but the marriage proposal kind of ruined it for me. They’ve known each other for four weeks! Yes, there’s a lot of attraction between them and I love them together. But the marriage proposal after he saved her just felt wrong. If it would’ve happened in the epilogue it would’ve been fine.
Wish we could’ve read more about the trial and the impact of her testimony.
This was an amazing read! Loved their banter and how clumsy Jack could be while catering. Something you wouldn’t expect with him being a perfect bodyguard and all.

Enjoyable!

Jack is hired to protect Carly until she can testify at a trial. His job is made more difficult because Carly won’t follow the rules he’s outlined for her and won’t listen to reason. She doesn’t take the threats to her life seriously and takes too many unnecessary risks.

Although they haven’t known each other long, sparks fly between the two. Can Jack protect her and win her heart? I loved the outrageous actions Jack had to take to appease Carly, and the commentary between Jack and Carly’s brothers toward the end of the book. A fun story with a HEA.

I loved Jack and laughed through the whole book! If ever a crazier cast of characters gathered in one book I haven't read it! Jack is the best bodyguard in Texas and meets his match in Carly, who is determined to take care of herself. What should have been the beginning of a crime mystery, a double murder, was turned in to a hilarious challenge for Jack by his sweet grandma and Cowboy Confidential. Fun read!
