Poetry - a magic created when raw emotions get words to be expressed in.
If you let them, they have this power to weave this magic around you, cloaking you in the depths of their meanings and transporting you to another place, even if for a very short time.
"Of Fireflies and Love!" is one such expression of emotions - some raw, some refined, many hurtful but also blissful.
✨Of Fireflies and Love is a collection of Poems from heart by Sadhana Wadhwa
✨ About The Author- Sadhana Wadhwa is a bookworm, writer, book reviewer, blogger and an IT Professional, not necessarily in that order. Her debut book - “Unspoken : A Bouquet of Short Stories” is a collection of stories on life, as it happens. A published author with Juggernaut, her works have also appeared in several prestigious anthologies like Amravati Poetic Prisms, A Book Called Home among others. ✨Review- The poems are really nice, full of emotions. There were some really amazing lines.. which I have mentioned in my post. But the essence and real beauty of a poem cannot be depicted with a few lines from them... for that one needs to deep dive into them. My favourite poem from the book was "Fairly Tale" which I really love, specially its end. ✨I would recommend this beautiful poetry book to all. Just a short simple read, which you can totally understand.
I thank the author for providing me with the copy of this book without any expectations of a positive response.
The author has penned different moods in this collection. My fav is the Epiphany, Juggler, and Perspective. It's a short collection, but it has a depth that can be relished over a cup of tea and a soft breeze amidst nature.
The thirty two poems in this collection are mostly about love and not at all about real fireflies. There are poems of rejection and hope, of acceptance and frustration. Many of them are poems about love: love arranged, love lost or betrayed and love redeemed by the smile of a child.
Reading poetry requires a different approach and a certain skill. One needs to read slowly and carefully, savouring each phrase, whilst I tend to read quickly. With “Of Fireflies and Love” I made myself slow down and read each poem two or three times. I also take things too literally and as poetry is full of metaphor, I often miss the point. I have probably missed the point about fireflies.
The first poem, “Alone”, records the rise and fall of a movie star who had no delusions about her fate and completely embraced it. There was a good arc to the story and a satisfying ending. “Perspective” and “Kindred” were favourites. They were cohesive and complete. In them I suspect that Sadhana Wadhwa is addressing a brother or a friend, not a lover. “Kiss of the Breeze” is a simple but effective piece which is full of successful imagery.
But in a number of these offerings I was confused by the conclusion. “If Only” is a good example. It is a brief tale about writer's block, with an imaginative solution, but I didn't entirely understand the closing stanza. She has somehow worked through the writer's block. Why is she afraid to go on? “Goodbyes” told a sweet, poignant story, but left me hanging at the end. Why was the anticipated reunion described as surreal?
On occasion I found it difficult to connect with the writer. At times it was because of awkward rhymes which disturbed an easy reading. And colloquial language such as “freaking out” or “had my back” or “let go kaput” seemed to this older reader to be ill suited to the genre. Such passages would probably not bother a younger reader.
There's a lot to like in “Of Fireflies and Love” and I wish Sadhana Wadhwa every success with her future work.
Is it kitsch to be moved by one's own emotions? Wonderful simplicity, the beautifully mundane—in appealing and poetic wording. I applaud the courage to publish these intimate feelings. Of betrayal in mind. But do they touch me? Do they elate? No. Poems, as the author insists, are about emotion. This view makes my feelings a legitimate yardstick for this review. See here, some diary thoughts nicely put. I miss rhythm; never was I swept away. I can feel the pain in these verses, but their shape doesn't inspire me. These poems might be a step toward personal freedom, yet the author is still deep in the maze. I don't think she will break free, nor that she wants to. (But then again, I have been wrong about female resolve many times.) And from what I understand from her work, she doesn't need success to be whole. Good for her—it is just a hobby. I liked the poem about love. But it was twice "akin to a fairy tale"—that's once too much. I may lack the curiosity to enjoy these strophes. If you don't, then by all means—go ahead and indulge. I received an author copy for this honest review—these are my opinions only.

'Of Fireflies and love' is a collection of 21 beautiful poems, describing how it feels to be free from the materialistic things, to be happy in your own company, to redefine yourself and to live a life the way you want to. I thought of reading a first few pages but couldn't stop until I finished it. "Beauty" was one of my favorite poems, it felt soothing and perfect. I picked up this book after reading it's description and truly the poems are magical.
The poems are all about falling in love all over again, heartbreak, ego, how we have left everything behind, even our happiness In order to achieve materialistic pleasures and how we have forgotten to live in the present. The poems are very simple, even a beginner who loves poetry can read this book. Do read it if you want to read something light and magical!

Sometimes I wonder about poems that how it explains each and every emotion with some words. And author Sadhana has proven it as well. There are around twenty one poems and I must say each of them are very unique and encloses particular path and messages to readers. My favourite poems are "Incomplete", "Mirage", "Orchids" and so on.
Author's writing style is beautiful and standard. I have noted down some beautiful lines in my journal as well. All of poems consist of emotions and feelings. It was really a worth of reading and genuinely refreshing read. I will recommend it to beginners and poem lovers.
While this charming collection of poems is not very long, the author has filled it with an impressive range and variety of emotions.
Many of the poems talk about different kinds of love, such as that between siblings or parent and child. Others are more of a commentary on some societal ills, but from the approach of the deep emotions involved. Additional themes I found in the poems were loss, despair, hope and courage. A couple of the poems even read something like short stories. As with any poetry collection, some of the poems were more appealing than others. One even brought tears to my eyes.
Overall, I liked the collection, although the wording within some of the poems seemed a little unwieldy to me. With the range and depth of the moods and emotions it touches on, this short book should entertain and speak to anyone who enjoys reading poetry.
Of Fireflies and Love consists of poetry. And when I first cam through this book I was not very sure of reading it. Bcoz honestly I am not a really big fan of poetry. But when I read the first poem I just loved it.

I am a Bengali, Poetry is literally is in my blood. I have grown up reading both classic and modern poetry. I still do read them a lot.
Most of the poems of the books reflect our life. My favorite from the book is Epiphany. I can’t tell you how much I can relate to the poem. It’s like it is written for me, speaking my truth. Simply love this one. Apart from this I really loved Fairy Tale, Good-byes, Kiss of the Breeze, and many more.
Overall it is a great read and I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend this book to all poetry lovers.
Many of these poems were very thought-provoking, challenging societal beliefs about what makes a person worthwhile. The ideas were very lovely and deep. Some of the poems felt a little awkward and the turn of the words a bit clunky. However, there were others that were quite lovely and flowing. Overall, if you enjoy poetry this is a book worth checking out. Some poems may not appeal to the reader, but others will. Overall, a book worth reading for poetry lovers.

Review
Its a short coffee break book so I would keep my critique short and will finish this while the coffee is hot. Firstly I adore the raw fervour author has put in this poetry book. The book commences with the poem 'Alone' which has its own cadence and fresh feel. The poet is rebellious enough to rhyme and then unrhyme. Periodically the poem is all about making candid experiments. And thus we find a mix of intricacy in simplicity.
As the book progresses, the poetry gets more intriguing and profound. One of my favourites would be the poem 'Haunting'. How can someone be so pure and still torment you? If you want to relish these poems and looking for a small cute read, this one is for you.
