Still recovering from the Battle of Moses Bayou, Angie Graves must travel alone to Puerto Rico. The island has a problem, one Angie is too familiar with - zombies. Specifically, children are being attacked by undead dogs, the chupacabras. The Puerto Rican government has people who can dispose of the chupacabras if Angie can track them. Deciding to help, Angie ventures into a jungle full of the undead and the unknown... Perro Chupacabra is a novella that falls between Books 4 and 5 of the Zombie Dog series.
I live in Houston, but I was raised in Lubbock, Texas. I’m an animal writer. It doesn’t matter if the animals I write about are zombie-hunting dogs, dinosaurs, or giant kaiju monsters, I’m interested in that area where animals and humans intersect. I’m especially curious about the mind meld that happens with working animals. This is my point of view for examining human nature, and why I enjoy writing these books so much.
My site says I’m a writer and an explorer. My wife and I are “often” travelers. Thanks to my work, I sometimes get the opportunity to visit extraordinary people in out-of-the-way places. In recent years I’ve explored parts of the Navajo Nation, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and I did a mesmerizing 20-state roadtrip with my supportive family. I’ve been to all but four states in the United States.
I live with two awesome kids (though one is having her own adventures in college), one amazing wife, and two white German Shepherds. Thank you for stopping by, and please check out one of my books. (They are all available from Amazon as paperbacks and e-books.) Since mid-2019, I’ve been donating twenty percent of my proceeds to charity. If you want to see where I donate, I update my donations via my newsletter.
Now this book was GREAT! It had a beginning, a middle, and a good ending. The characters were fleshed out and while there were a few grammar and spelling errors, they didn't bother me because I was engrossed in the story itself.
In this book, Angie is in Puerto Rico when an earthquake hits. In this book, it isn't wasps that are controlling the zombies but some type of hawk. Because of all the deaths caused by the earthquake the zombies come to the orphanage for the little kids. Even without Murder, her dog, Angie is still a force to be reckoned with. Along the way, she makes some new friends. She stays for 3 months and starts a zombie task force and begins teaching the people to train zombie dogs.
This book was fast-paced and very enjoyable story-wise. I just wish the author could write all his books in this way.
Note: this is a novella and it falls between books 4 and 5 in the series.
Dark and violent, a novella "#4.5"in the Zombie Dog series - "giant" wasps are turning the dead into zombies. Angie Graves is renowned as a Zombie Hunter. She lost her trusted, rescue dog Murder at the end of the last book. Murder is missing and presumed dead. She is called to Puerto Rico to help with a crisis involving zombie dogs - the same or similar wasps are zombifying dead dogs and "riding" them to hunt for children to act as a repository for their eggs and to create more zombies. She misses Murder - a piece of her heart is gone - but she rises to the occasion. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you are looking for an interesting set of books, this could be for you. Warning - man's inhumanity to other living creatures is definitely displayed in these books.
I do love this writers work! Always such a pleasure to read! Brilliant ideas & storyline, excellent characters & a little something different! This is a very enjoyable novella & I really can't recommend this & the series enough!
