Fight or Flight book 9 of Zombies on The Block picks up where the adrenaline of Better off Dead left off. The cliff hangers get answered. But who will survive the day? Will they stay together, will they flee on their own? Will zombies be the only thing that they need to fear? This apocalypse is not shaping up to be friendly, and there are no signs of help ahead.
Mike Evans lives in Iowa with his wife, children, and two adopted dogs Rusty and Harley Quinn. He writes with a passion to bring his characters to life, to make you fall in love with them, and then make you flip pages to find out if they’ll survive or perish. He keeps his characters realistic, there are no superheroes. There are no perfect characters in his books, everyone has their flaws much like that of life. Mike loves to write in different genres and is unafraid to try something new.
The Purple people-eaters are well ahead of the survivors
But Mike (the character of the author) and his family (of characters, but of course, you knew that) are kinda together again. I mean, they were, then, well . . . maybe you should read for yourself what happens. Yes, I'm sure you need to read it yourself, so all I'm going to say is - this is an amazing story with the world's best characters fighting against the world's worst bad guys (and girls, and kids and even a cute little baby or two) running around trying to eat everyone they see (or hear, or feel, maybe even smell). With characters that awesome, and a storyline straight outa Hell, the only thing left to make this the best zombie apocalypse ever is a great author to put everything together and in Mike Evans (the author, not the character) we have a master storyteller! All put together, this is one helluva great read!
I took off a week and read several other books before returning to this series and found that I couldn’t remember who almost anyone is. The problem is that they are all very similar and they are all doing very similar things. I remember the guy in the airplane, I remember Mike the author because he’s the first guy we started following at the beginning of the series, and I remember Matt the high school teacher. Other than that, I’m usually quite a way in before I start to recall—well, storyline isn’t the right word because all they are doing is killing zombies. But you get the picture.
This book is all action and almost no plot. And what plot there is moves very slowly. We’re nine books in and we still haven’t consolidated the cast to save the neighborhood. I have begun to think Evans never will.
The close knot neighbours from the cul-de-sac are all trying to get together and make plans from there. Many have made it but others are trying to survive yet on the roads. Unfortunately but it is a zombie apocalypse, some have been lost. Who's survived and how are the ones on the road faring? To find out you will have to read this character driven, emotionally charged book and series to find out.
Fun and exciting. Sometimes it take me a bit to remember which character is which because there is so much going on. I can't give it a 5, because you still need to work on the grammar, but the rest of the book was great, and once started reading it, I didn't stop until I wad finished.
This book is full of action and terror. The people of the neighborhood are struggling to get home to there friends and loved ones. How many will make it? I can't wait to find out.
