Cancer I Forgive You: How I Chose Peace Instead of War with my Son's Cancer Journey

Rate this book
HER SON HAS BRAIN CANCER, BUT SHE HAS NEVER BEEN HAPPIER.Instead of going to war, she chose to redefine her narratives about cancer and forgive it in order to win the fight and heal the soul.

The author’s and her family’s life turned upside down when they found out about her son’s diagnosis. The pandemic COVID-19 broke out at the same time when Max was undergoing brain surgeries. After Max’s three brain surgeries, doctors announced that his hands would be permanently disabled; instead of giving up, Max was trying to move his arms every day. Today, Max can draw with both his left hand and right. This champion is ready to soar high, and only the sky is the limit.

This is an inspiring story about the most challenging mindset shift the author of the book has ever had to make in order to win this fight, letting cancer heal her life. It is not about struggling with it, suffering from it, breaking under the burden of it. It is about dealing with it and forgiving it.

Despite her son’s brain cancer diagnosis and surgeries had turned her and her family’s life upside down, the book's author managed to maintain an aura of happiness, peace, and grace.

She didn’t allow herself to be blindsided by fear, so she decided to go to the other side of that terror, standing on firm ground. Shirley turned negative emotions into forces of energy that empowered her to become as spiritually supportive as possible and keep a positive attitude.

Life is a journey; it ebbs and flows. Cancer contains opportunities for transformation and actions to expand higher and brighter and communicate with our spirit and soul about how to live our lives. The author is deeply convinced that it is possible to awaken soul beyond cancer and forgive cancer.

Very inspirational book. A must read! I highly recommend this book. For families attempting to cope with cancer in a loved one, friend, or self. We need more research money for ALL types of this insidious killer that thrives amongst us. Thank you Shirley for sharing Max's story. He has a "warrior" Mum and Dad. God bless you all and I wish you and Max a life time of success with your continued fight against this malicious " monster"!! I personally only recently found out that my younger brother has pancreatic cancer. I intend to share your story and amazing spirit with him, although he isn't a child, I believe your words of wisdom can also inspire adults inflicted with this deadly disease. I shall keep you and your family in my prayers. Max and his sister sound like very special little people,! I believe that Max is a blessed little boy, and he truly did choose the perfect parents for his journey into his adult future. I lost my first born son at the age of 53 less than. 2 years ago, I just thank the Lord that for his 53 years! He was a joy to raise, a very happy baby and little boy! I was given his wonderful love, and perscalled for 53 years! I shall miss him to the end of my days here on Earth...he died from a rare form of cancer called GIST, of course, there is no known cure for this terminal form of cancer (yet)!

Good luck, Max, keep up the fight!!!🤗😘 Looks as though I wrote my review in the wrong place. I hope you get to read it anyway... Namaste.

Not What I Thought

I couldn't settle into this book. In my opinion, it is at best, average? It was not one of those books that I looked forward to getting back to in order to learn more or see what happened next. The characters FELT more like characters than real people!
Despite the description of the book, I expected more about the CHILD and how the cancer impacted him and the family, the side effects, the scary moments, etc. Instead it seemed more focused on yoga, meditation practices, positive thinking, and more than I expected, a woman's "philosophy of life." I didn't find that particularly useful although I know many might be so inclined.
I'm glad Max is doing well however!
