I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my unbiased opinion on Marta's "Shadow's Apprentice"
Not a lot of fantasy novels impress me but I like this book. It's not the best fantasy novel I've read, but I can see myself watching a movie based off this novel. It has an amazing cast of characters, great world building, and the main character has great chemistry with humans and animals involved. The main character was also witty/charming and therefore, I enjoyed a few laughs here and there. If you like quirky female leads, charming characters (and animals), magic, and a dash of romance, this story is for you!

Dark forces, a spunky healer who lacks self-confidence, and a mysterious pup who's not who he seems come together to create an intriguing epic fantasy adventure.
The world-building sucked me in, and Macayla was an easy heroine to root for. I especially loved Shadow, who was always getting into mischief and surprising me throughout the story.
I'd definitely read the next book in this series.
