Sharing Claire: A Couple Explores the Hotwife Lifestyle

Rate this book
A single volume hotwife novella

Married and in our forties, younger daughter of to college, my teacher wife Claire and I were a walking cliché. Empty nesters writ large. We’d always had a very happy but somewhat vanilla and conventional love-life – I guess in keeping with the conservative upbringing both Claire and I had received.

To spice things up in the bedroom, Claire and I had taken to looking at on-line adult websites – including those with ‘adult’ movies and erotic stories. As we explored, Claire was wide-eyed at the size of some of the guy’s cocks that were shown, and she developed a particular fascination for some of the well-hung black studs who were shown on these websites.
It’s fair to say that it was Claire who had the first and the stronger interest in this whole well-endowed, interracial sex theme. I did find the movies and pictures of some pretty woman taking a huge black cock arousing – but Claire’s interest was definitely stronger!

I began to whisper in Claire’s ear erotic stories made up about the kinds of scenes we’d watched. “Neil honey … you know when you make up those stories in bed … well … I was just wondering ... Do you ever really think of what it would be like watching me going with another guy ….”

And what was said – couldn’t be unsaid.
Claire’s question took us down a path that was to lead to Ecstasy and Agony, and which would both enrich and test our marriage in ways neither of us could ever have imagined.

ps: Yup, this ps is at the beginning. I’ve now read this book a second time and liked it even more - August 15, 2022.

ORIGINAL REVIEW - August 6, 2022.

This is my second attempt at a review of this novel. The story is so good, I was torn as to how to approach it.

Neil and Claire, recent empty nesters, have lived the straight life, both before they were married and through 23 yrs of marriage. With both daughters off to college, and time on their hands, they work on their love life, including reading and watching interracial porn and BBC.

They thoughtfully decide to take a step on the wild side and enjoy the slide down the slippery slope. Their communication is superb throughout the story (until near the end) as they analyze and discuss their relationships and experiences. The POV is predominantly Neil’s. When Claire steps in, she is fulsome in her disclosures, coming across as a thoughtful and loving wife as she explains her perspective on Neil, Jason and Hannah and their relationships.

BBC Jason and his ex Hannah become involved over time. Both are worldly, and bring their wealth of uninhibited experience to Claire and Neil. For Neil and Claire, it’s a remarkably pleasurable journey.

That’s not to say there aren’t bumps along the way. It’s the palpable love between Neil and Claire, and their sensitive natures and open and honest communication, that smooths the potholes pretty quickly. As much as anything, it was Neil and Claire’s strong, thoughtful and supportive relationship that hooked me on this story.

As the relationships with Hannah and Jason build, emotions get involved and thinking begins to change, some anticipated, some not. And there are questions about their situation: experimentation, hotwife, cuckold, wife sharing, boyfriend, polyamorous, open marriage, girlfriend, pregnancy, it’s wonderfully complicated.

When we’re first introduced to Jason, he comes across as a bit of a dick. Also, there were certain coincidences and evident communications between Jason and Hannah. Both left me wondering who the real Jason was and what Jason and Hannah’s motivations and true intentions were. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see that.

For me, this story is a flat-out 5 Stars. Normally, I would knock off one or two stars for the generally minor, but annoying and too frequent, continuity errors and typos. I’m not going to do that this time, because I enjoyed the evolving characters, communications, relationships and experiences too much.

I do wonder how the author brought so much insight to this story. I have a tough time thinking it’s all imagination.

For a different take on this book, I highly recommend Ron’s review. It and the solid and representative sample hooked me on this tale which consumed me for a week.

Don't you just love when you start a book without much expectation and it knocks your shocks off! That is what this book did for me. I'm not sure how this book got on my read list, but I am going to be sure check out this authors other works. What got me about this book is it's practical sensibility. It made the characters real and their bad judgement all the more believable! If that even makes any sense. But it builds a greater connection with the characters, which is usually the greatest hook for me.

While the cuckolding couple is hit by emotional responses at first, they usually come back together and through communication and trust find a common path forward. Like we would expect from most married couples of twenty-four years. This drives the story forward because you understand the background of trust that allows them to take next step. Granted, that next step could have them falling off a cliff! But that is why we read these stories, right? And like the characters of the book, I too had an emotional reaction to the ending, but with consideration I accepted the author's approach to the ending. It's fitting with characters he wrote. Maybe it was a bit rushed, or maybe I just wanted to know these people (with all their faults) longer.

The sex scenes are well written and hot and there are several twist and turns. This is fiction, so not thinking about the impact of their decision on their college age girls get a past. As does the fast pace of the storyline and some of the sudden changes between chapters. It felt like at least one chapter ended up getting chop out of the book.

Unfortunately, there are several continuity issues throughout this book. I am not sure the gangster image of the bull (Jason) was needed to underscore the interracial nature of the story. Plus it was quickly put to the wayside, it felt a little racist. And this is about almost every book in the genre, but it is funny how kids in these stories are sound asleep by 8:00! These minor issues won't stop most readers from enjoying this ride.

See If You Can Guess The Last Chapter

A very interesting read that goes through many twists and turns. So much so that I didn’t want to put it down. I needed to find out how it would end and how would it get to the ending.

It’s one of the better reads if you want to understand the emotional aspects and not just the sex.

But even at the end I’m not sure we’ve read the whole ending.

Loved it

Excellent story. I thought the angst could have been higher and would have liked some enhancement for Claire. Overall I enjoyed it
