This workbook will give you the tools you need to take charge of your money, find peace with your finances, and use every resource God has given you for His glory.
Scott's wife, Katie, is also an author, and God has blessed them with ten children. They grew up together in the small town of McArthur, in the mountains of northern California.
After college, Scott served as an Army officer before becoming an elementary school teacher. While teaching, he began working part-time as an associate pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Lemoore, California. As the church grew, he was hired full-time and remained there until he moved to Washington.
Scott has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and two master’s degrees, one in education and the other in biblical studies.
Scott spends most of his time with his home and church families. He loves studying and teaching God’s Word. His free time is usually spent reading and writing.
Scott's books come from his sermons, which take twenty-to-thirty hours of work each week. This means each book contains hundreds of hours of study in God’s Word.
The author is a reading friend and asked me to review this book.
For this review, make sure you have a copy of the ESV, English Standard Version, translation on hand. It is needed for all of the scripture references in this book.
We cannot serve two masters, Matthew 6:24. This book serves as a guide, to use your financial resources wisely.
There are sections on saving, not spending recklessly, giving generously, and preparing for retirement.
This book draws heavily upon “The Parable of The Talents, The Ten Minas, and the Prodigal Son”. So if you have a copy of the Harmony of the Gospels, keep that on hand as well.
I took many notes while reading this this text. It is one well worth annotating, and coming back to to annotations over the years to see how life events have changed.
This book is well worth the read, and it will give you a new outlook on many of the parables.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Your Finances God’s Way is an insightful and helpful book about managing money according to biblical principles.
The stress and burden of financial constraints is felt by all of us. The struggles of making needs meet and sometimes spending money on luxurious objects can make a person think twice before fulfilling that. Scott LaPierre has shared some of the most valuable and glorious principles that will help you in properly manage finances and at the same time making the best use of money. Although there are many ways to improve your management skills, I'm sure you must have never heard of abiding by biblical principles and practices to successfully retune your vision to see God's guidance and wisdom that He has bestowed upon is in the Scripture.
Learn the ways how you can gain while paying for the debt, without breaking your spine over it. The choices that we make matters significantly, the biblical approach will help to make the best ones and avoid unnecessary chain of mental manipulations. Furthermore talking about the financial statements and statistics for better understanding, he shows the results would have be polar opposite if one would have chosen to understand God's Word. Making wise decisions and no scope for involuntary or compulsive spending, this book is a gem amongst others.
Accompanying the main book is a workbook that will assist you in perceiving the reality of financial stability through practical application of the biblical principles that were elaborated in the previous book. It contains straight to the point questions along with words of encouragement and understanding which cause us to reflect on what and how you can seek the ultimate relationship with our Savior.
As challenging as it sounds, you can achieve the goal of financial freedom by acquiring some of the deeply profound approaches by understanding the blessings and believe of God's way. Highly recommended it to every reader.
Your Finances God's Way: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money by Scott LaPierre is a Self-Help Christian Book.
Scott LaPierre is a Pastor and Conference Speaker. He prides himself in living a Debt Free Life for a Single Income Family of 11. He written this book to share his knowledge of achieving a Debt-Free Life with others. The Book is Biblically based and encourages the reader to be a good Steward of the Blessings we are given. He says many have Negative Spending Habits and are not wise with money. The main points he covers in the book are: • get the most out of your money by paying off debt and building up savings • make wise spending decisions that enable you to avoid anxiety, regret, and conflict • find a healthy balance between being financially frivolous and frugal to a fault
The Workbook is a GREAT addition for the Book of the Same Name. to help keep the reader accountable. I really like that the Workbook is laid out to correspond to the chapters in the book and helps guide you to laying out your household financial plans. The Workbook also is a great asset for those using the Book in a Group or Bible Study setting. I HIGHLY Recommend both the Book and Workbook to anyone who is struggling to be a Good Steward with Finances. ENCOURAGING BOOK!
This is such a great companion to the main Your Finances God's Way book. It doesn't just repeat a concept, then allow space for you to write your thoughts. This workbook gives so much rich content on its own, helping you dive deeper into Scripture and apply it to your own heart and life and finances. This is a wonderful Bible study by itself, but even better when combined with the main book.
I highly recommend this set as we seek to please our Heavenly Father with the things he's given us stewardship over!
Your Finances God’s Way is a comprehensive handbook for handling your finances. Scott writes in a personal way that makes each concept clear and easily understood. With a large family and no debt he is a hands on expert well worth reading. Underscored by a foundation of Biblical truths both the book and workbook are must have additions to your Christian library. I recommend them. I was given a copy courtesy of the author through Booksprout. This is my honest opinion.
Talk about a timely resource! My husband and I are in the middle of a major financial crisis, and have been praying for answers as to what our next step should be. Then Your Finances God’s Way dropped into my lap, and I have been immersed ever since, as we continue to pray for answers.
The first thing that struck me about this book is how Biblically based it is. There is no denominational sway, and I love that every point is backed by Scripture, which is clearly documented for further study. So many Christian books about finances only sprinkle in references here and there, but every point the author makes is backed by Scripture. “ We need wisdom to know when and how to spend, give, and save,” and the Bible truly does hold all of the answers. We just need direction, to know where to look, which is what makes this resource so incredibly valuable.
I loved reading the author's personal story, and appreciated his laid back, easy to read, writing style, which helped this nonfiction flow easily. My favorite part is the deep dive of Matthew 25 and the parable of the three servants. I’ve heard this parable many times, but something about the way Scott LaPierre presented it opened my eyes to Jesus’ meaning behind telling the parable.
The accompanying workbook takes this topic to a deeper level, as application is when you will truly see the change in your own life. I am a huge note taker, and I love that I can keep all of my thoughts in one place, but I do wish there was more room to write in the workbook itself. I also thought for personal study that it wasn’t as impactful as it would be in a group setting, which is awesome if you are going to use this for small group study, but for me it felt rudimentary.
Like I previously stated, I have submersed myself in this study since I received it, and to say it has been thought-provoking is an understatement. I truly believe that Your Finances God’s Way is an answer to a prayer, and I am so thankful this resource came into my life.
*I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
Book: Your Finances God's Way: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money
Author: Scott LaPierre
Review: "More money, more problems". Rapper B.I.G was most accurate when he quoted this in his song, probably foreseeing that money along with its luxuries and comforts also brings in a whole new set of problems. Most people often struggle to figure out what they want to do with their money. Do they wanna save it or spend it? If they wanna save it, how should they save it? If they wanna spend it, what would be a good thing to spend it on? Your Finances the God's way is a book that can help with putting the money to use in the best possible way.
In the book Your Finances God's Way: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money, the author uses biblical reference to help guide the readers towards an ethical and biblically accurate way of putting their money to the best possible use. He writes about the biblical way being best way of managing money, as it helps the person with money related stress and reduces their problems to a great extent.
This is a great book for readers to help them understand the ways that they can put their money to good use. It would also help the people stay humble, and remember that money though important isn't the most important thing in life. It makes them realise that too much love for money is what gets in the way of their mental peace, and doing your finances the God's way can help you there.
It's a great pleasure for me to be able to write this review and whole-hearted recommendation of Pastor Scott LaPierre's newest book, Your Finances God's Way!
The author truly starts out on the right foot when he makes it clear to the reader that this book is not merely a collection of his own opinions about money and finances; rather, it is a collection of God's thoughts on those subjects, as they are found in His written Word. I love how he pointed out in the preface that our relationship with money and our level of financial maturity will almost always be a reflection of our relationship with the Lord and our level of spiritual maturity.
It was a great idea for the author to structure the content of this book to reflect the way the New Testament Epistles are written – the theology behind wise money management comes before the "how-to" application of what we should or should not do with our finances. One of the things that struck me in particular was just how much Jesus Himself talked about money – making it the subject of nearly 1/3 of His parables! I appreciate Pastor LaPierre's practical wisdom and insights into Christ-like giving, charity, debt, and God-honoring retirement. And in the very last chapter of the book, he does an incredible job bringing to light how the Bible uses financial vocabulary to point us to the true spiritual riches of redemption in Jesus, Who imputed His righteousness to us so that we poor sinners could be ransomed from the debt of sin that we could never repay!
Whether you are struggling to get a handle on your money, or you think you have your finances under control – either way, this book is a practical, Scripture-focused guide that I would gladly recommend to anyone who wants to improve their relationship with the Lord and use His financial resources for His glory. May the Lord cause this book to be a blessing to all who read it!
Your Finances God's Way Workbook: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money by Scott Lapierre is the crucial companion of the book "Your Finances God's Way". The religious scripture suggests - “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only," The author to allocate this prime concept of the Bible provided us with the workbook of those guidelines so that we do not merely learn God’s Word simply for the sake of attaining knowledge. We learn it so that we can assign it and better serve the Lord benefiting ourselves in the long run and leading an easeful financial life. It's just like taking notes to remember something vividly and also writing something down would be more effective than typing things. There are logical questions for each section of the book so you need to read the corresponding section in the book before you look at the workbook questions so that after answering those questions you create a permanent memory. This book will motivate us not to be rich but to manage the god-gifted wealth well to serve the saviour in a way. There are some logic-driven statements which will make you aware of why you need to read this book. At last, I want to conclude this by saying that this is not a book to stop every storm coming your way but it would give you the strength to combat that storm( if any)more effectively. A suitable companion for the crucial theme.
Book: 5 stars Workbook: 3 stars So what I really loved about this book was that while it WAS about finances, it wasn’t JUST about finances. LaPierre’s approach in this book makes it a point for us to be good and faithful stewards of WHATEVER God has entrusted us with. Money is an easy asset for us to understand handling responsibly, but it’s also gifts, talents, children, ministries, jobs, etc. It’s everything God has given us! I liked that he emphasized that while shouldn’t be wasteful with our finances, our goal shouldn’t ultimately be wealth. It’s to be faithful with what God has given us and use it for His glory. Although I was already looking forward to this one, I’m glad that I was surprised just how much I got out of it. Definitely worth the read!
The workbook was a good resource as well, although not quite what I expected it to be. It was more of a reading comprehension/deeper thinking about what you read as you go along instead of a hands-on financial workbook. Still useful, but might be worth looking at a sample before deciding if you think it’s worthwhile.
*I received a copy of this book and the accompanying workbook through JustRead Tours. Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.
The point of the workbook is definitely to solidify what Scriptures teach about money and its use; and to enable the student to fully apprehend those lessons (and I say student, rather than reader, because this will feel like a course or study--in a good way) as they go. The questions vary between asking "what is happening here" to the "why" questions that will cause the student/reader to stop and really think: about what God is saying, about what is healthy and good, about whether there are changes in thought and use of money that the student can make. There are also opportunities for the student to set goals or resolutions for how they can use this resource not only for their own good but for God's glory. Again, as a Bible study can, the workbook's many questions are aimed directly at the heart of the reader/student. Those can, I believe, be wonderful mechanisms for positive change in each individual's habits, plans, and thinking.
Once these Scripture "foundation" chapters are completed (chapters 1-12), the following chapters dive into the nitty gritty, or practical parts of our use of money: teaching readers how to stay out of debt; how to get out of debt; how to save well; and principles for what retirement can look like and how to retire well. The remaining chapter is a wonderful closure to this book, with some life guidelines and encouragements to follow.
I highly recommend Your Finances God's Way Workbook: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money as a companion piece to LaPierre's book:Your Finances God's Way: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money|58852870]. This workbook will really enable the student to put feet (so to speak) to the excellent teaching and ideas from the book. It's applicable for those just starting out in life; those in the middle; or those at the finish line.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
The workbook is a study guide that makes a good resource for small groups who want to discuss these issues together. This would be perfect as a solo, couple, or group study guide. It includes questions to discuss, a summary of main points, and questions designed for self reflection and to change your point of view. Or at least acknowledge what your understanding of things are. The book is easy to follow and organized in a way that makes it ideal for small groups.
It’s also easy enough just to work through on your own as an individual or with your family if you don’t want to go the small group route. Each chapter is only a few pages long so it can be read in one sitting, which means you could finish it in about two weeks even if you only read 15 minutes every day.
I would definitely recommend reading this book if you're looking for an easy way to understand personal finance from a Christian perspective.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
With the increasing inflation and stagnant income sources in most of the households, it's technically never enough money to save, spend and invest. Any most of the earning members of any family are mostly struggling with acing their financial game through with they can tackle the increasing inflation through earning more and investing even more.
And to make your struggles of finances much easier Author Scott Lapierre has come up with an extraordinary and informative book of hers Your Finances God's Way Workbook: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money which lays down crucial principles for one's own financial freedom. Through the book the author has simplified our repetitive financial habits either its spending or saving or investing and then laying down a protective plan that will help the readers and earners to be future secured by following the simple rules and strategies that will educate the readers better and will provide them with a sense of knowledge and expertise which will help them to build a heavy wealth for their future. Overall, I found this short and crisp read to be very informative and educative.
Scott LaPierre has made this workbook so easy to work with and understand, it works so well with Your Finances God's Way and has made a big difference in the way I do my finances and how I understand the bible. Thank you Scott for yet another amazingly written book.
Both books are so well thought out that they can each stand on their own, however, they do complement each other well and are better together.
The workbook reinforces the lessons taught in the book and gives opportunity for you to work out your convictions of your trust in God and how it becomes applicable to your finances
What I liked:
- These are not your typical how-to books - They are geared specifically to enlighten Christians and help effect a change of heart. - There is no sense of condemnation in the delivery. As a Pastor, the author shepherds the reader to learn what God has to say about finances then examine himself/herself through a series of questions and answers. - That the message is not, you need this budget sheet and you'll be ok. - That the author's style made for easy and interesting reading.
I am already a tither and I consider myself a modestly generous giver, however, the words amoral, moral or immoral have never before come to mind when thinking or talking about money. To that end, I was convicted about how I spend what's left after the tithe. I need to be a much better steward.
I recommend these books highly to anyone who is struggling with financial issues, get them and get to the heart of the matter with sound biblical teaching and self-examination, then follow through with implementation of whichever area(s) you discover needs work.
I received both books from the publisher free of charge. This review is written voluntarily.
This is the companion workbook to the outstanding book by Scott LaPierre, Your Finances God's Way. This is SUCH a well written book that it would make a GREAT Bible study topic. Young and old alike can benefit from Scott's research and the things he shares in these books. The workbook asks thought provoking questions that pair perfectly with the reading in the book. Christian - you owe it to yourself and to the Lord to follow the principles outlined in this set of books. Very inspiring!
I enjoyed reading the beginning of the book where Scott explains his story and why he’s sharing his reasons to his readers. Scott uses scriptures, skills and his personal experiences to share how we can become good stewards of our money.
“When you finished the last chapter, you will know what it takes to be free from financial anxiety, prepared for the future, experience contentment, and give charitably.”
I liked Scott’s simple approaches, his scripture references, and the explanations as to WHY we should do his suggestions and follow scripture examples and God’s word.
I also got his workbook which was extremely helpful in practicing and applying what I learned in each chapter. I love taking notes and writing down my thoughts when I’m reading and applying a “self help” book. It was especially helpful when I was reading about the parables.
Highly recommend if you are wanting a biblical, Godly approach to managing your money!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
This workbook is a practical guide to handling one's finances in a step by step concise way by using biblical guidance and principles. It is effective and useful in accomplishing your financial goals Scott LaPierre did a great job.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This workbook makes for an excellent resource as an accompaniment for the actual book as it enhances what the author is presenting to his readers.
Here is the review I wrote for the actual book:
I received a ARC [Advanced Reader's Copy] Mobi.file from the author and the following is my honest opinion.
I began my journey of trying to be a good Christian woman at the age of 69 after publishing my first two Christian books day before this birthday, which inspired me to become a Christian blogger.
Since then, I've become a good Christian woman with a passion for sharing the words of the Lord; I've come to realize that he has instructed us to contend with everything we possess in life. So, given my passion, I would like to share the following scripture that should remind everyone reading that you're far more than what you perceive yourself to be. And when I talk about being contended, I talk about being happy despite the situations we might be going through in our lives.
Let me begin with what is written in MATTHEW 6:25-26 [NKJV]:
[25] "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? [26] Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Still, one of the things we need to be contented with deals with money, or in other words, our financial well-being. As Christians, we know that the Lord is called the Great Physician, but not too many of us realize that He is also a wonderful Financial Advisor.
To begin with, in HEBREWS 13:5 [NLT], we read the following:
"Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, 'I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.'" Being a Senior Citizen with a fixed income and my better half, we know how worrisome money can be in our lives; the apprehension of not possessing enough funds to pay our bills can be quite overwhelming. So, in regards to our financial well-being, we need to remember what is found in DEUTERONOMY 8:18 [NKJV]:
"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
In this book, Pastor Scott LaPierre uses his family's experiences and extensive knowledge of Scripture to enlighten his readers in replacing their spending behavior with one that is aligned with what the Lord wants us to act like. Through the pages of this, you'll discover that not only is our Lord a GREAT PHYSICIAN, but He is also a wonderful FINANCIAL ADVISOR.
For wanting to share the words of a wondrous FINANCIAL ADVISOR with his readers, I've given Pastor Scott LaPierre 5 STARS for his endeavor here.

Your Finances God’s Way: A Biblical Guide to Making the Best Use of Your Money has been an interesting read. I have found it, thus far, to be biblically based and without denominational influences. Scott LaPierre approaches the topics with a unique approach and his workbook follows the same layout of chapters and topics.
Topics included are: -stewardship and faithfulness, -God’s kindness and severity, -Money is the foundation of faithfulness, -The Dangers of loving money, -Learning from a rich fool, -How to avoid being a rich fool, -Give willingly, -Give sacrificially, -God’s Generosity encourages giving cheerfully, -Good stewardship toward the poor, -Spending problems versus an income problem, -God’s view of debt, -Avoiding and eliminating debt, -Saving the right and wrong way, -Retiring well, -The greatest riches.
While I feel the book is solid and quite well done, I am not as impressed with the workbook. It is a good supplement, especially if you are needing something to document completion (as with a high school student getting credit) or as a guide for a small group study. As an independent study, I feel that the workbook is unnecessary. A large part of it is basic knowledge questions that don’t require a depth of understanding or application. Those types of questions are there but they are not the majority. Still, the workbook has its place in certain situation but it is not required to make the study helpful. My overall feel about the workbook is to get it if you need it for one of the above reasons or something else I didn't note but if you are working through the study on your own, you don't need it. The main book, however, is required for use of the workbook. The workbook is not a stand-along book or study.
The top things I love about this book are: - It is scripturally rooted - It is extremely easy for anyone to pick up, understand, and apply the lessons - I appreciated Scott's way of explaining the love of money - There is an awesome accompanying workbook
As a Christian money coach myself, I love studying the topic of faith and finances. Many people might think that I know all there is to know about the topic, but after reading new books I always discover something new. This was definitely the case with Your Finances God’s Way! I really appreciated some of the new and refreshing perspectives around Bible verses that I have read and repeated to others countless times.
One of those passages comes from Mathew 24. Here is where we find the Parable of the Talents. This is one of the quintessential Bible verses about managing money and yet Scott brings to life some lessons from it that you may not have ever recognized before. One such lesson being God judges our proportion versus our portion.
It can be hard thinking that someone else was blessed with tons of money and think that God must really like them and see others who have very little and imagine that they must have less favor in God’s eyes. However, when it comes to our personal finances, God gives each of us exactly what we are able to manage according to our faithfulness. When we manage our finances well, God may entrust us with more.
If you're looking for a comprehensive look at God's view of money as seen in scripture, this is the book to get you there! Scott addresses many of the most common money-misconceptions and myths as well as the flat-out lies. Scott also has numerous practical examples of ideas to reduce spending and live within our means. I so enjoyed hearing the author read the book--this offers a kind of connection. If you've ever wondered about some of the tougher-to-discern passages related to money, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised as Scott explains them and helps us to apply them. I especially appreciated hearing about the examples of folks from WCC who did things out of the ordinary in order to remain debt-free in a debt-loving world. I was waiting for one famous Scott Lapierre quote that I've shared numerous times over the years: "the world celebrates debt like it's a blessing and yet, thinks of children, clearly described in scripture by God as blessings, as curses." It's a topsy-turvy world out there! But God is faithful to guide us by His Word and Scott remains faithful to the Word in teaching us. Also, I'm going to have to stop saying "tithe" when offering our gifts. Overall, it's a fantastic listen that I'm grateful to have been able to enjoy. Highly recommend.
Your Finances God’s Way and the Your Finances God’s Way Workbook by Scott LaPierre is a work of Christian non-fiction. This book and workbook are filled with bible verses on giving, saving, investing, retiring, and much more. From Galatians 6:7 we are taught you reap what you sow and that makes this personal finance book a great investment.
Having read other books by Scott LaPierre, I have gained an appreciation for his straightforward style that utilizes Biblical truths. While you could possibly read the book on its own, I believe the workbook provides additional insights and activities that help bring the messages in the book home.
Whether you read it alone, with your spouse or some other important person, or work through it in a small group, I feel you will gain valuable insights and information.
So, if you are looking for a workbook to help with your finances, check out Your Finances God’s Way and the Your Finances God’s Way Workbook by Scott LaPierre.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
The author is providing positive patterns with biblical principles to get you to think about how and why you spend your money the way you do. His goal is to help you be a good Stewart of the money God has given you. I found the questions to be very thought provoking and sometimes hard to answer. He did help me identify ways to manage our money and make better decisions.
