Medjugorje Complete: The Definitive Account of the Visions and Visionaries
Medjugorje The Definitive Account of the Visions and Visionaries looks at the alleged visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Medjugorje, their origins, and their impact on the Catholic Church. It is an expanded, revised, and updated version of two previous works, Understanding Medjugorje and Medjugorje Revisited , published in 2006 and 2011 respectively.
Medjugorje Complete focuses on the transcripts of the original tapes of the visionaries made in June 1981. It also looks at the credibility of the visions and the visionaries, demonstrating serious problems in accepting Medjugorje as genuine. It also examines the role of theologians and the Hercegovina Franciscans in promoting Medjugorje, and its tangled historical and religious background, as well as its links with the Charismatic Renewal. I am so appreciative of the research and establishment of factual information concerning the visions and visionaries of
Medjugorje. I was a convert to Catholicism in 2005 and this phenomenon left me uneasy. Very comfortable with Our Lady of Guadalupe, Fatima, Lourdes and Knock. So I decided to read this book to either confirm or deny my gut reaction. As the author points out there is no denying the conversions that have taken place and the many solid devotee’s to the message but, it has not been approved by the Catholic Church. I am not a believer and the book affirmed that for me.

I recently visited Medjugorje with a fairly open mind but with some questions about the repetitive and sometimes odd messages that the alleged Apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary was giving to the visionaries. I loved so many aspects of it- the devotion, the beauty of the place, the focus on teaching, but I was disturbed by some of the divisive and non orthodox preaching so looked for a definitive text when I got home. I think I found it in this book. It is really detailed and well researched from original sources of recordings. The author is quite fanatical about Fatima but otherwise this book really helped me to understand that although there is good things happening in Medjugorje due to faith filled people praying with sincerity the apparitions cannot be considered supernatural.
