Tragic Consequences was written for Americans who are concerned about the cultural decline they see all around them, people who watch the nightly news and ask themselves, “What is happening to our country?” It seems we have become a nation of people who are offended by everything but sin. What is happening to our country is simple to explain but sad to we are seeing what a culture of sin can do to a country. Within the problem is the solution. Biblical morality reestablished in America by an uprising of God’s people standing for righteousness will bring God’s forgiveness and our healing.
God is a man-made invention, and to force people, Americans in this case, to adhere to rules made up by men is the kind of christofascist idea that is driving people away from churches left and right. You are free to live your life based on whatever rules sky-daddy's fairytales are telling you, but you don't get to impose those same rules on everyone else. This is not a theocracy.
What culture are we wanting to reclaim here, author? The culture where women are chattel? Where women can't vote? Where PoC are second-class citizens, given 3/5th the value of the white man? Or the culture where rich white men own slaves who are forced to work for them for nothing but a pittance, while said rich white men become even richer? We've already tried that. It didn't work for anyone except those rich white men.
In our culture/society today it seems the majority of people are rejecting God/Christ and are accepting sin. North and Goetsch present historical notes that show how our country was founded on Biblical format and believing in God. Yet they also show how our country has swayed away from Biblical faith and fallen to sin. From child abuse to human traffiking to road rage, gun violence etc the authors give detailed descriptions and definitions of problems we face but they also offer solutions and things we as chrstians can help to turn things around through prayer and actions and restoring the traditional family. By enhancing a more "Christ centered culture", all things are possible.
