As a native of the South, is it any wonder Loribelle has a love of storytelling? She started writing seriously as a teenager and finished her first manuscript, a mystery, when she was nineteen. After a few bumps along the way and stints as an Army MP, a waitress, a book store manager, a student, and a wedding photographer, she turned to writing full time. Great continuation of the series. Loved Selene and Warriks story
Clan Chief Warrik Jain found his der'lan 4 years ago and publicly rejected her.
Selene Quora is the daugher of her Clan's Chief and an only child. Her Clans traditions will not allow her to lead her people. Her der'lan will be the Clan Chief when the time comes. A Priestess of the Goddass Cult. She met her der'lan 4 years ago, a Priestess is not what he was looking for as a mate.
Selene and Warrik have excnanged the odd barbed messages over the years. Warrick always sends appealing gifts. He has made no move to claim her.
Selene and Warrik need to come to an understanding. The seers have seen the destructin of both their clans if they don't. War is coming to the Delroi. They will need all their warriors ready to defend their people. Barak Trace, Ruler of the Southern Clans is out of patiance and forces thier hand, and Warrik has to deal with the consiquences.
Selene and Warrik work through the secreats, lies and hurt feelings. They stand together to uncover the warrior behind the attack on Warrik's rule. Family betrayl is exposed. Wrong are righted. For some members of the new Azure-Bay Clan, healing may never come.
Fast paced and steamy. Great chemistry between Selene and Warrik. Looking forward to Mikal and Danine's story.

An enjoyable sci-fi romance.

I really enjoyed this first book in a new series. Most of the sci-fi romances that I have been reading recently have had heroes who were very alien in anatomy and instinctual drives. As a consequence, less attention is paid to the nuances of the alien culture, history, and political systems. The world building of this novel in regards to those elements was excellent. The plot was tight, action packed, and exciting. The hero and heroine were both sympathetic, nuanced individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The only thing that I could quibble with in this novel was the distinct lack of fire alarm heat that I have become accustomed to in sci-fi romance novels. However, this was an all around great novel. I hope we get more Earther heroines in future books in this new series.
