This is labeled as a scenario supplement, but it’s something between that and a mini setting book. As with all things Heart, this is for the DM who’s comfortable improvising and playing theatre-of-the-mind: you won’t get any location maps or scene-by-scene breakdowns here. The design philosophy is very hands off, going so far as to not specify who is responsible for the conflict, though brief suggestions are listed for who might be and why. For this reason, this feels more like a planescape-esque hub setting that a party might stumble through and slowly unravel in the downtime between other adventures. Or maybe you combine it with the Sanctum expansion and use the haven fallout rules to advance the plot.

In either case, Doors to Elsewhere feels like an incomplete package. What’s here is good, but I don’t walk away from reading it with the confidence that it would be straightforward to run.

What a fun campaign frame -- it's basically a campaign setting, with an ongoing problem they need solved, rather than a scenario, and I adore pretty much everything in this. The dimension where cats go when nobody's looking at them is particularly great tbh, and kind of representative of the whimsy elements that are at threat by the horror elements of this book. Looks extremely playable and giving me excellent ideas.
