Connie Queen has written a wonderfully suspenseful novel here. What would you do if you suddenly found yourself in a canyon, in the dark with a four year old and a baby in tow, with people shooting at you? And no idea who you were or what you were doing there? Then you stumble onto a ranch and a man aims a shotgun at you? Phew! Talk about suspense! Action from the get-go and continues throughout the book. This is a good suspense book.

I won a copy of this book and was under no obligation to leave a review. I also had a Net Galley copy from the publisher. The opinion here is entirely my own.

A high-octane thriller about a woman who comes to her senses on the run with two children, but can’t remember who she is or who she is running from, just that she is escaping bad guys who are after her and the two children. A former lawman comes to her assistance and is immediately mixed up in the scramble for safety.

Nothing like coming to on a cliffside with absolutely no idea of how you got there! That's how this page-turning suspense starts out in all it's bullets flying, desperate game of cat-and-mouse glory. Phew! Readers might want to pace themselves for this one.

I'm always surprised by the never ending ways authors can spin the amnesia trope and Connie Queen does a great job of making it seem fresh and new. Made for such a compelling read as I waited as anxiously as Annie to figure out her past!

And having Riggs -- hello, FBI agent turned cowboy -- by her side through all the chaos made the read that much sweeter. Plus, this hero comes with a canine partner -- Aussie shepherd Shotgun who turns his paw at just about anything from babysitting to guarding to fighting off wild life. :-) Love the wilderness elements in this suspense as well -- it ups the danger factor! There have been quite a few LIS novels with wilderness themes lately and I'm liking it!

Wow, this was quite a fun story. Amnesia, cute kids, and a race for their lives in the great outdoors makes for an exciting read. I wasn't sure how all the pieces would come together in this mystery but it made for a good read trying to figure it all out! Enjoyed this one!

This story started right up with danger and adventure and kept steadily at it throughout the book. It was very interesting to journey with the main female character as she worked to not only survive but to also discover who she was and why she was on the run with two small children.

I liked that even though Riggs did not immediately trust that the woman he found truly had amnesia, he helped her and the children anyway. He was a good man with a painful back story. He was a strong hero who clearly had compassion on the people he was helping.

These two main characters would unravel the mystery behind the amnesia, work to help others to safety, and fall in love, too. I was also thrilled to find that this book had an epilogue!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

What could be worse than being on a narrow ledge and trying to keep yourself and two small children from falling to the canyon below? How about being on that ledge and not knowing who those children are, but even worse, not remembering who YOU are? All Annie Tillman does know is that someone is trying to kill her, and she needs to find who it is and why she is a target!

Canyon Survival is a thrilling, hair-raising story with a heroine who has amnesia, a hero with a painful secret, and two adorable children who may be victims of a child-trafficking ring. Danger, adventure, and surprises galore make this a book that you won't want to put down!

Her memories are key to their survival...

Canyon Survival is only the second book that I've read by Connie Queen, and, while I did like first one a touch better, this one was a pretty good read as well. It had all of the elements that make up a true Love Inspired Suspense novel. Of course, that means starting out with an exciting scene fraught with peril and the enticing promise of mystery and intrigue to come.

Amnesia has been a bit overused in fiction but despite that it can still be done well – and Connie Queen does do it well. Annie's confusion and Riggs' suspicion are pretty believable. I also appreciated how her returning memory took time, with some bits and pieces nearly to the end of the book.

The highlight of Canyon Survival is, of course, Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle. After finishing the story I looked up the canyon and was surprised to find out that it is 120 miles long and up to 20 miles wide. Wow! No wonder Connie Queen chose to set her story there! Not only is it a dangerous environment but there's room in that canyon for some serious suspense angles!

One can never go wrong when choosing a Love Inspired Suspense. They are easy to carry around and short enough to finish in an afternoon. They also entertain with romantic suspense while still encouraging your own journey of faith. Canyon Survival lives up to that in every way and should be on your Love Inspired Suspense want-to-read list...Just be sure to grab a glass of water for the hot and dusty adventure...

If you’re in search of a romantic suspense that’s original, has a unique setting that becomes a character of its own, and some heart-pounding action, then you do not want to miss Canyon Survival by Connie Queen.
When Annie (aka Stormy) wakes up in the canyon and can’t remember how she got there, who the little girl and baby boy with her are, or who is shooting at her, I was hooked. And this was page one of the book.
Then Riggs enters the scene carrying some heavy baggage laden with guilt and everything ramps up more. Because Riggs is determined not to make the same mistake twice. He will protect Annie and the children right along with his heart.

Queen gives readers a wonderful balance of suspense, emotions, and romance in this book. I loved the unique dangers posed in this book (you’ll have to read it to learn more about them). And even thought I had a pretty good inkling of who was behind everything, I had to keep reading to figure out if I was right in addition to seeing how Riggs and Annie would work their relationship out.

Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

First time author for me, and will be an auto. Intense, child trafficking, amnesia, ex FBI. This shot out of the gate and kept you running the whole time. Loved, loved, loved that before intense individual scenes they called on their faith. How many times do we do the same thing, even if we struggle? Something is bad, or going wrong, and we cry out to please help. Loved Shotgun (4 legged) that belongs to Riggs or ex FBI. Thoroughly enjoyed the interaction between Riggs, Kay-Kay bug, and Pardner. My heart melted. Stormy dealing with her past, trying to right the wrongs and remembering to call out for help. I absolutely loved that there were red herrings, someone I was sure was bad, wasn't. Someone who popped up towards the end, I thought might, and then there was the one that I knew, just knew was bad, and I was right. Such a wonderful mix. How many people read this book and then started google searching for Bring the Children Home Project or something similar? I have never bronco ridden, or bull ride, but it sure looks like what I have seen, shot out of the gate, hanging on for all I can, and calling on the Lord.

Yeah this book had my heart from the first page...not only was it a wonderful page turner, but it addressed the issue of kidnapping and child trafficking in a tangible yet respectable way. Stormy is dealing with amnesia as she risks her life to help two young siblings. Even with amnesia, this girl kicks butt and it determined to get the job done no matter what the risks are. When she crosses paths with Riggs, he proves to have the same protective heart and determination while grieving what once was his.

I even thought, regarding Riggs and his guilt over a tragedy, he couldn't be at fault because he was doing a job that saves lives. Even though it was heartbreaking what happened, God had more purpose for him in isolation.

Truly LOVED everything about this story, one of the best I've read this year. The ending was super special also...highly recommend Queen books, her storytelling is top notch!

A deadly chase through a canyon puts a woman who doesn't know who she is, with two children under her care, in the path of former FBI agent Riggs Brenner.

A fast paced read, that keeps up the tension and high stakes throughout, the heroine doesn't remember who she is or who the children are or why they are with her. I liked that even though she doesn't know who she is, she still clings to her faith and is willing to do everything that she can to protect the children in her care. But as the pieces come together, Riggs becomes more invested in their little crew, despite his original reasons for being up in the mountains.

An action packed, definitely a page turning read, with great elements of mystery, suspense, relationship building and action. A highly enjoyable and satisfying read from beginning to end!

Canyon Survival by Connie Queen is a Love Inspired Suspense.

And suspense it is! From the moment the main character wakes on the edge of a canyon with two children in her charge and no memory, the action doesn’t stop until the last page. Shootouts, explosions, and the wilds of nature—this book has it all!

I also liked the relational dynamic between the two main characters, they had a lot going on and a lot of baggage from their pasts, but they handled themselves like mature adults, which I always like. Plus the children were sweet and had me hoping for a happily ever after for everyone.

If you enjoy Love Inspired Suspense novels, then check out Canyon Survival.

I liked this suspense novel. I thought it kept you guessing till the end of the book. I liked that it had the right amount of suspense and a little romance. I liked that we got to see how each of the characters dealt with guilt over things that were not their fault. I liked that there was a resolution and that the main characters ended up together and were able to do something that meant a lot to both of them.

When I saw this was going to be on tour with JustRead, I HAD to get it on a pre-order sale. After all, I LOVE the Love Inspired Suspense (LIS) line and wasn’t disappointed in Queen’s previous release, Texas Christmas Revenge, so it was a no-brainer that I was definitely going to want to read this.

A woman with amnesia and two kids being chased by gunmen? A former FBI agent? Yup – definitely my kind of read. It is also a standalone title so there is no need to worry about reading books before it or after it.

The cover, like so many is realistic and intense, if not terrifying. It definitely sets the story’s pace and tone of being intense, non-stop action, heart-pounding, and emotional given the content. [Note: Harlequin actually featured this one on their “spot the difference” post].

While this is LOVE INSPIRED SUSPENSE, and has themes of Christian faith – this also deals with some darker themes that might be triggering for some people. Those are: kidnapping, child trafficking, and the selling of children on the black market. Obviously kids in peril doesn’t sit well with me, but I di understand it happens.

But, Queen’s writing focuses on the work Annie does, as well as Riggs’ “redemption” after feeling like he failed his wife and young daughter. Queen also adds in the sweetness and innocence of Kay-Kay (4) and the poor sweet unsuspecting baby Jonah (6 months old) to balance it all out.

The author definitely created a strong, but reluctant hero in Riggs. While being around Annie and Kay-Kay (along with Jonah) stirs up the painful memories – he knows he can’t just not help them.

Even Rigg’s Australian Shepherd (one of my FAVORITE breeds) is along for the journey. I had to laugh at the dog’s name – SHOTGUN.

The story starts off with a bang – of course Annie doesn’t know who she is, where she got the kids, or who is after them. They meet up with Riggs who’s wondering the same things – but, Annie can’t tell him. He doesn’t quite believe her. He decides to call her Jane (as in Jane Doe) until Kinsleigh (Kay-Kay) calls her “Tormy” – for Stormy. Kay-Kay and Jonah seem to trust her and are with her willingly … for now.

The first task is trying to get out of the canyon and to safety which won’t be easy since there are two men (and likely more) determined to find them. Vehicles are dwindling, and Stormy can’t even remember how she got there.

Despite thinking his house is safe – it is blown up (reminding him again of that night with Carol and Macy Sue). One thing is clear – even though he could get help a lost faster on his own – he won’t separate from Stormy and the kids because of what happened that night all those years ago.

But, something about Stormy seems familiar to Riggs. Yet it won’t connect until about 50-75% of the way in when the woman finds out who she really is.

Their peril in the canyon has them facing the gunmen, riding on horseback with few provisions, a storm, and a mountain lion. That’s all in about the first 50% of the book, so Queen DOESN’T let up on the suspense and action at all, nor does she give the foursome a break at all.

Bits and pieces of Stormy’s memory comes back but she can’t make sense of it, nor can she tell if it is real or something she saw on TV (loved that particular note). She hopes she isn’t the one who took the kids, but from handling the gunmen, she knows she has something to do with law enforcement.

A sweet, but terrifying moment (and a bit of a spoiler) is when Kay-Kay falls in a crevice during their “escape” from the canyon. It is Riggs who rescues her and his sense of humor brought some levity to the situation (truly one of the best parts of the book):

Riggs: “Hello, honey. Aren’t you tired of playing down here?”

Kay-Kay (giggling): “I fell. I wasn’t playing.”

I absolutely adored Riggs in that moment as he put his own past and the situation aside to comfort Kay-Kay.

Annie isn’t revealed as the woman’s name until around the 56% mark after they get to some safety. But, even with the big reveal, things come back in slow patches for her in a very realistic setitng. And, after she finds out who she is and why she does what she does, she won’t stop until the kids are safe, and neither will Riggs (did we expect anything less form this guy after what happened with Kay-Kay earlier). But, Annie is also afraid of who was at the heart of it.

Like the action in the story, this grabbed me right off and didn’t let up until the end. I was a bit sad at the ending, but understood why Queen wrote it that way. I would’ve liked to have seen a resolution to one open-end. I can’t mention it without “spoiling” the entire plot.

I had a few ideas of people I suspected; one was a given. The other? I had a strong feeling, so a bit predictable there. But, despite that, there were some surprises I didn’t anticipate.

Overall, I LOVED the book despite some typos which shocked me that were there. One was a bit of a stumbling block for a moment, but it didn’t completely impact the storyline for me. There is also a point where the author refers to a “clip” for a pistol when it should be “magazine” – an error that is all too common in fiction (TV shows, movies, and books).

There was an EASTER EGG moment in part of the book. It was when Stormy/Annie and Riggs go through a bag with information and find a card with “Bliss” on it and a Texas number. At one point they think it is a town (turns out it isn’t). I had to laugh as in the LOVE INSPIRED line, Mindy Obenhaus just completed a series set in … Bliss, Texas.

Fans of the line, genre, and author won’t want to miss this. I can’t WAIT to see what she’s got up next!

Canyon Survival is appropriately named, and the cover does the story justice. I love the cover and the story made me want to visit a canyon, just not under the circumstances the main characters find themselves in.

Queen immediately sets you down in the middle of a mystery. Staring with a woman with amnesia caring for two kids in the middle of nowhere, running for their lives. From the beginning, the story is fraught with tension, suspense, a budding relationship, sweet children, and so much more.

There is a lot going on in the story, and I did not figure out the bad guys until almost the end. My biggest struggle with the book was it was very description heavy, whereas I prefer more dialogue. It was a quick read with a unique setting.

When Annie Tillman wakes up in a canyon without her memory, all she knows is that she's in danger and so are the two children with her. What happens next is a fast-paced race for survival where the stakes get higher and more deadly.

Canyon Survival was a fast-paced read and two characters--Annie and Riggs--who put themselves in danger to protect two unknown children. It was a quick, adrenaline-filled read with characters that you can root for. Readers will be reminded that in every situation, no matter how bleak, God has a plan.

One thing that I always seem to enjoy about Love Inspired Suspense reads is that thy don't make you wait long to get into the action... and don't have many breaks in it to the finish either. This definitely held true for Canyon Survival as well. The action starts immediately, and we find ourselves in that canyon right along with Annie, wondering who she was, how she got there and where these kids came from...and more importantly--- who in the world was after them? From page one right through to the conclusion, this high paced story kept me turning pages to see how it all came together. There was of course some romance too, which I personally might have liked to have seen a little more of, but then I'm definitely one who enjoys more romance! While I was able to figure out who the bad guys were fairly early on in the story, I found that I still enjoyed the story nonetheless. Overall, a good, quick read that fans of romantic suspense are sure to want to check out.

Darkness lay before her, so thick and heavy, like a wool blanket on her shoulders even as stars filled the sky above.

Wow! What a nonstop fast-paced thriller! From the very first page, Connie Queen creates an intense atmosphere with danger and suspense.

The story begins with Annie Tillman waking up on a cliff deep in the heart of Palo Duro Canyon. She can’t recall how she got there, but she quickly discovers she’s not alone. With two small children in her care and a chance meeting with Riggs Brenner, a former FBI agent who lives in the canyon, we are swept away into a heart pounding journey of survival through rough terrain and dodging gunfire at every turn.

They needed to keep their relationship purely about survival, nothing more. But he had the feeling he’d rather fight the cougar again than let her go.

I enjoyed getting to know Stormy’s and Rigg’s backstory and what drove them to be who they were through alternating points-of-view.

Annie wished there was a way she could help him heal. But what did she know about assisting a person with their past? She couldn’t even handle her own family’s failures.

It was easy to develop a bond with the characters and I totally rooted for a happy ending for Stormy and Riggs. Speaking of the ending, it was very well done and all questions were answered.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Canyon Survival and definitely look forward to reading more books by this author.

Canyon Survival is a Love Inspired Suspense Book that is written by Connie Queen. This book has all the action and does not take much time in between to let your heart beat normally again. When a woman wakes up on the side of a ledge with two children she does not know who they are and someone shooting at you she has no memory of anything. While she is not sure how she got the children, the overwhelming urge to protect them is strong. She meets Riggs while she is trying to escape gun fire. Riggs does not immediately believe her story 100% of the amnesia, but agrees to help her and the children.

Slowly we start to learn this woman's story. Who is chasing her, who the children are and what secrets she tries to keep buried deep inside. Riggs has his own secrets, his wife and child were killed in a house explosion which he blames himself for. I enjoyed watching the two of them unravel the woman's identity and if the children are part of a child trafficking ring.

Non Stop action, danger, suspense, romance, and so much more! Well written characters, suspenseful storyline, and an enjoyable Spring read. I received a copy of this book through JustRead Publicity Tours, all thoughts are my own.

A romance filled with danger and courage! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What an opening…..and the action continues from page one! Annie Tillman regains conscientiousness on the edge of a cliff with two young children by her side. Though she doesn’t remember who she is or why she has the kids with her, she courageously protects them. When rancher Riggs Brenner arrives, he helps protect the young ones and tries to understand the unusual circumstances surrounding Annie as they both seek to save other kidnapped children.

Author Connie Queen delivers an action-packed story complete with courageous characters, dangerous situations and encouraging faith. Set amid the rugged landscape of Palo Duro Canyon, Texas, this fast-paced romantic suspense focuses on the heartbreaking plight of missing children and the dedication of brave rescuers. I enjoyed the building tension throughout the book, the developing attraction between Annie and Riggs and the sweet epilogue with its touching ending. For readers of heart-pounding suspense, Canyon Survival should be on your must-read list!

I really enjoy LOVE Inspired Suspense Novels. I have read a few of Connie Queens books and they are always a joy to read. I recently read her latest book, Canyon Survival.

I was captivated by the Storyline from the very first chapter. The main character, Annie Tillman, really makes the story interesting. She has amnesia and her and 2 kids(who are not even her children) are trying to run for their safety. Riggs Brenner at first doesn't believe Annie and her story of Amnesia, but he does want to help them to safety. Annie and Riggs both have troubled pasts, yet they seem like a good team together. Will Riggs get everyone to safety? Will there be a happy ending for the 4 of them?

I was in AWE of how much Action and Suspense was packed into a short novel. The Romance that brewed between Annie and Riggs was quite interesting and added a bit of suspense to the story. The Author does mention Child Trafficking and Kidnapping in this book, but does so with senstivity. Action, Suspense, Romance and Faith all make the storyline AMAZING! I HIGHLY Recommend this book!

Set in Texas, former FBI agent Riggs finds an unknown woman and two young children running from danger on his ranch. Stormy/Annie gets amnesia from a fall at the beginning of the book and is running from danger with two young children who aren’t even hers.

This clean fiction story had lots of action and drama from beginning to end. Kidnapping and child trafficking are mentioned in this book in case that is a trigger for readers. I loved getting to know Annie, Riggs and the two kids. Highly recommend this fast paced, easy to read Love Inspired suspense book!

Connie Queen’s Canyon Survival is action-packed danger and suspense wrapped in the embracing story of love and family. Along with the intense wilderness setting, Riggs Brenner is a force to be reckoned with. He’s the ultimate hero with a tender heart for kids that endears him to the reader from the start. Annie Tillman’s strength makes her a strong heroine able and willing to fight for the good of others. The entire story is fabulous, and I loved every page! My favorite quotes: “No man should get by looking that good without a warning sign.” And “Please Lord, don’t let me be the criminal I see in my dreams.” I would absolutely recommend Canyon Survival as a must read!

"She prayed this impending-doom feeling would pass." From amnesia, to being shot at, caring for 2 kids she doesn't even know, and meeting a hunk of an emotionally closed off man, there is non stop action throughout this book! I think amnesia is one of the scariest things to think about having and Connie does an excellent job bringing that fear to life.

Can Riggs and Annie overcome their emotional pasts and start a new life together that's full of hope and promise?

Awesome story of courage and faith that you won't be able to put down!

Where to even begin with this book. This book starts out putting you on a ledge as well as the character in the book and keeps you on your toes the whole way through. Annie and Riggs each have their own back stories that makes things difficult, but doesn't stop them from working together. This was a great read! I really enjoyed reading this book and had a hard time wanting to put it down. I kept wanting to see what was around the corner for them and the kids. Great job Connie!

Exciting and fast paced!

A woman wakes up to find herself and 2 children in danger. She doesn't remember who she is, but the men shooting at them ensures she gets going. As she is running with the toddler and baby, she runs into Riggs and his dog Shotgun! They are both determined to keep her and the kids safe, but danger is everywhere. It is coming at them from all sides. Even when she remembers who she is, there is still a ton left to go through. Will they be able to save themselves and the kids?

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has a few kisses but no steam! The characters are vibrant and engaging. The Christian faith is worked into the story well. I will be looking for more stories by Connie Queen! Enjoy!

Sigh...if you can ignore medical science on amnesia and suspend some of your disbelief, this book isn't terrible.

But seriously, does anyone research how amnesia works before they write a book about it? It's extremely rare you can't remember your own damn name. When people ask a person with amnesia their name, it usually just pops right out. Why? Because it's ALWAYS been your name...okay for most people. It's like knowing colour names. TV and books just use it as a convenient way to make their plot work the way they want to.

Anyhow, the characters went from not exactly loving each other to making eyes at each other in roughly 2-3 days. I really just want a decent Love Inspired Suspense that doesn't have such an unrealistic romance relationship in it.

Action was okay. Plot was...okay.

"What am I doing in this canyon? Who are these little children with me? Who is this man in the red truck who's offering help? Who am I, and why are other people shooting at us?"

"Canyon Survival" by Connie Queen is an exciting story with an exciting cover. The plot has more twists and turns and surprises dropping in on you than a canyon road with falling boulders. The characters will pull at your heart as well.

One of the best stories I've read this year, and I highly recommend it.
