Life in England is extremely challenging and demanding for 1800s Upper Class, where the “Bon Ton” monopolizes and dictates how, where and when High Society behaves. But for Lady Esmeralda (Esme) it’s more than that. Betrothed in marriage since childhood to an Earl who she really doesn’t know and who doesn’t want her makes her life miserable with woeful acceptance. Because in truth her heart belongs to Lord Selkirk, yet nothing can be done about it. This is a world of a Society’s constant whirlwind of parties with Mamas and Debutants seeking the best marital match that will enhance their mutual Houses. The saga continues not only with how true love is finally found by our main characters, but murder, espionage and revenge that might be fulfilled. Although we do have a cliffhanger, I love and highly recommend this book as well as the previous ones in this series. You must read the other books in order to familiarize oneself with all the various characters. Looking forward to the next book to learn what happened to certain characters.
