"Fast, brutal, and more than a little sexy." (-Nerdist)

From Matteo Pizzolo (CALEXIT) and Anna Wieszczyk, the comic that Zac Thompson said "pushed me further than I've ever been pushed” returns to ratchet up the chaos, spitting punk rock fury, thundering into your eyeballs and running roughshod across your brains with its often mindbending, sometimes horrifying, always clever & devious tale of sci-fi magic, apocalyptic sex, and subversive mindbombs.

"A singular vision full of fresh elegant brutality and dark humor, it’s like some genius commissioned Chuck Palahniuk, Terry Gilliam, and Aleister Crowley to reinvent dystopia fiction." - Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead (filmmakers Synchronic, The Endless, Moon Knight on Disney+)

"The embodiment of what Black Mask is all about as a publisher: Bold, visceral storytelling unconcerned with being pinned down in one genre or category." (-SYFY Wire)

It's more between 3.25 and 3.5, but I tend to round up

Avoiding any spoilers, at the end of book one we had a cliffhanger. We kind of win, and yet not really; everything is effed to hell..

Our adventuring party get separated, two halves desperately trying to get back to eachother. They each have their own challenges to overcome in the endeavor.

While this is still a sick and twisted and brutal world, it feels like it's been dialed back a bit here. Which is fine as far as I'm concerned, my enjoyment hasn't been based off the sick and brutal nature of it.

This book gives us a change in artists. The new style is cohesive, but noticeably different. The world and characters are recognizable, it all fits and belongs. But the art has become significantly cleaner. It is much less muddy and much easier to read. Personally I see it as a slight downgrade. But I imagine others may see it as a major upgrade.

For me, I'm hooked I'm down for the ride. I kind of need to see where the story goes. Soon I'll have book three (which is volume four) then I can start digging into the current floppies dropping currently.
