I leap from bed on Saturdays. I get to help my mommy shop. We leave early in the morning. The grocer is our first stop. Money Plan offers a clever approach to teaching young readers about money, saving, budgeting, and working hard. Told in rhyming verse, the story follows Mia and her mommy on their Saturday morning trip to the grocery store. When Mia spots her favorite treat, she gets her first introduction to money management.
This is an AWESOME book. My 4-year-old is asking for a lot lately, a lot of toys, candy, adventures, etc. We have been trying in vain to explain money and why daddy and mommy have to work so much, etc. but this puts the words to pictures. I love that the author explains the whole process. I mean, you had my heart at coupons! She talks about saving money, what it's used for, a budget, earning money, etc. This is a great introductory book but will be a great resource for many ages! I am so excited to share this in our library.
Thank you, Monica, for helping build Parenting Across Color Lines "Little Diverse Library"! As a parent and teacher of multicultural students, it's SO great to see a book featuring and written by a BIPOC author.
Money plan is a book that breaks down the concept of money, saving, and budgeting for little kids. It also provides kids with a diverse setting and representation. I will definitely be using this book to introduce money in my future classroom.
