Murder in the Mix #40

Cookie Exchange Execution

Rate this book
My name is Lottie Lemon, and I see dead people. Okay, so I rarely see dead people, mostly I see furry creatures of the dearly departed variety, who have come back from the other side to warn me of their previous owner’s impending doom.

It’s Christmas in Honey Hollow, Santa might be on his way but so is a killer.
Lottie Lemon has a brand new bakery to tend to, a budding romance with perhaps one too many suitors, and she has the supernatural ability to see the dead—which are always harbingers for ominous things to come. Throw in a string of murders, and her insatiable thirst for justice, and you’ll have more chaos than you know what to do with.

Living in Honey Hollow can be murder.

Cookie Exchange Execution is the fortieth book in the Murder in the Mix Mystery series. Each story in this series builds on the past story so I would suggest reading them in order to get the most out of it, but they are written where you could read them as a stand alone if you wanted to and not be to lost.
Lemon has a gift of seeing dead animal of those who will experience back luck soon, but lately deadly luck. Like all the books in this series, when Lottie sees a ghostly animal she knows death is soon to follow.
No by is expecting anything to go wrong, they are after all in what they would consider one of the safest places, a building full of police officers. They annual Christmas cookie exchange is taking place and there is fun being had by all. Well almost everyone. The one person Lottie finds herself tripping over, is dead. No one saw anything of course and not one person was expecting to need to be looking.
Lottie, being the one that stumbled on the body feels that need to investigate and find out who would be brave enough to kill someone in the middle of the station. It is supposed to be the happiest time of the year and now it will be the worst year for the victims family. Will Lottie be able to solve this and keep up with everything she does this time of year? Or will the holidays sneak up on her like the killer did to the victim?

Christmas is in the air in Honey Hollow, VT and the bakery is churning out dozens and dozens of cookies for all kinds of holiday events. Everyone's at the Sheriff's Station, where Noah is a detective, for the Annual Christmas Party and Fundraiser. Lottie sees a creepy skeleton and wonders why it's part of the holiday decorations. Oh wait, it's a ghost and it can also look like Santa Claus...how creepy! Of course, seeing a ghost means that a murder is going to happen.. But, here in the sheriff's station??? So, the unthinkable happens and Lottie, the local sleuth, is trying to solve the crime while trying to deal with a creepy, uncooperative ghost! Chaos ensues as the ghost is angry and wants to go back to paradise. Hopefully, the crime can be solved amidst all the holiday parties and everyone can have a nice Christmas! Loved the Christmas theme! Another great book by Adison Moore that can be read as a standalone or part of the series. I think you'll really enjoy this one!

**SPOILERS**

I love that this series is getting back on track, it has gotten back to being awesome. I did not like the story line of Noah and Everett getting arrested. The new story line is hilarious and I am loving it. Noah and Everett it seems like has finally realized that they need to work together when it comes to Lottie. They both love her and they are all tied together by the baby. I am looking forward to seeing where this story line goes and how everything comes together with the 3 main characters.

On the downside, I am still not liking Lottie's birth mother. I think she creates unnecessary drama between the main characters and gets them into trouble. Cormack is that annoying friend that you see forcing herself on a guy that doesn't want her like the movie "He's Just Not That Into You." I keep wondering when she is going to get the hint that Noah is not in love with her no matter how much she forces that issue.

Overall, the story isn't bad

With the exception of the ghost/poltergeist that suddenly has both exceptional powers and the ability to switch between good and bad on a whim, I enjoyed the plot.

On the other hand, Noah is still embarrassing himself by mooning after Lottie (it's SUPER cringey when he talks about getting her pregnant). Lottie is still letting him delude himself, which isn't great. At this point I'm rooting for Cormack, or maybe Noah to fall off a tall building.

Everett is still so patient, Carlotta is still OTT, and Evie is great with Lyla.

40 books in, and the author should probably be embarrassed that they haven't resolved this 'never gonna be' throuple.

Lottie is determined to find out who killed the doctor and the others. She is doesn't like the farce that Noah has to go through with Cormack. Noah is determined to get the information about what Manchester has been up to. Everett is trying to get their dream home together. Things are happening at a rapid pace for everyone

This was a really fun book to read, there as some interesting twist and turns. The ending will have your in a bit of a shock. I am still hoping that the triangle between Lottie and the guys will be solved. Would really like to Lottie with Noah.

I always love the holiday themed murder in the mix mysteries! It's Christmas time in Honey Hallow and Lottie Lemon is busy as can be baking for all the towns festivities. The Christmas party at the sheriff's department turns out to be a doozy when someone decides it would be a good idea to commit murder right there under the detectives noses. Of course Lottie and her gang are up for the task of solving the crime. Unfortunately this time her supernatural helper isn't exactly the most willing to help. That doesn't stop Lottie from doing what she does best. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next one!

Lottie Lemon is at it again...baking up a holiday frenzy, and solving crime. This time her spectral helper is a not-so-nice version of the big jolly old elf himself. Another spectral entity has joined him and let's just say that Lottie has triple the amount of work cut out for her. Everett and Noah get caught up in some death defying air time, and a major financial operation is uncovered. How does one woman bake up a storm, enjoy her daughter's 1st Christmas, be the best wife, and catch a killer? She has a little help from the other side, friends, and family, all in the quaint town of Honey Hollow. Enjoy this, the 40th book in the Murder in the Mix series.

With the magic of the Christmas season upon Homey Hollow, promises of cookies, holiday cheer, a visit from Santa and time with family and friends, is dancing in all of their minds. Lottie is deep into making the holiday sweeter when it takes a sharp
Homicidal twist, with a ghostly aftermath. I found myself giggling through out the whole story. It’s so easy to fall into Lottie’s world as she keeps belly’s full, raise children, raise parents, be a wife and friend plus try’s to solve a murder. Perfect holiday cozy mystery to kick off our holiday season!

Lottie is trying to solve several murders and finds herself with a demented ghost to deal with on top of it all. She seems to have no luck with her new home and Everett pays some hefty fees in order to keep their dream alive. Noah continues to try and find out what is going on with Cormack's father. Set at Christmas time, the book did a good job of giving off a holiday vibe. There were a few twists and the ending was surprising. I really do wish the whole love triangle would be finished and not lingering like it is. Both Noah and Everett deserve to know where they stand.

Lottie isn’t as bright as she’s made out to be. She misses many clues although I guess that’s the author’s intention so perhaps the reader can be ahead of the case. Noah and Ivy shouldn’t always be the last to know that seems a bit ridiculous. If they never solve a case that doesn’t say much about their abilities. I am interested in how Noah gets another daughter, assuming it’s with Lottie. I’m thinking Lottie is already pregnant and isn’t aware of that fact yet. If I recall it was a Valentine’s Day where she found out or suspected she was pregnant with Lyla. Twins seems doable if Everett has sons per the information given by Nell. I’m also wondering what chaos is about to unfold. I will just keep reading. Everett’s constant possessiveness of Lottie is annoying. Noah can’t even kiss her on the cheek? He gets nothing!! A glorified stand in for Lottie leftovers.

A good mystery series.

It's Christmas in Honey Hollow. Lemon prepares for Christmas and has a murder to solve, as well. I like the Christmas activities and humor. The plot is good. A grumpy ghost dressed as Santa Claus helps Lemon with her murder investigation. There are recipes in the book. This is a nice mystery for Christmas.

This was another awesome book by Addison more. Lottie and the gang get into more fun and of course a dead body to deal with.

If you have enjoyed any of Addison's books you will love this one as much. This is a stand-alone book but I suggest you start from the first book so you get to know everyone.

I just love this series. Been with it since book 1 was released and I haven't stopped yet. I really like all the characters and the small tyown antics that go on. It make me feel all warm and fuzzy, even if this is a murder mystery series. LOL!

Well done to the author on another great story.

Back again we are with Lottie. Nothing like having a murder happen at the sheriff's station during a cookie exchange. Nothing like having a grumpy ghost Santa to help solve the crime. Always looking forward to see what's next it Lottie's world.

What will happen next

Lottie has several murders to solve with very little time. Noah is engolfed dealing with Macky’s father and that investigation of money. Jordan Lottie’s college roomy murder could be apart. Honey Hollow has a lot going on in its town.

Book 40 Murder in the Mix, Cookie Exchange Executed

Like the story line, however at 9 months of age the baby should be crawling everywhere and not happy being in a sling. Was glad the person Jordan was able to realize all the trouble she cased and makes up for it.

So cute and it put me in the holidays mood. I guessed the murder mystery at about 60% into the book as well, which was exciting.

Christmas Murder Mystery

Two murders, ghosts helping out more than one wants, a proposal and maybe one more proposal. What more do you want in a story? Great story!

I love to bake and eat cookies. This book made me hungry. Lottie, Noah, and Everett have their hands full with the upcoming holidays and of course a murder to solve, make that multiple murders. The usual snarky remarks from the family and the love triangle continues. Kudos for less Carlotta and screens from dives in Leeds. Cliff hanger --will the feather head survive pregnancy?
