Charles Whibley (1859-1930) was an English literary journalist and author. Whibley's style was described by Matthew as "often acerbic high Tory commentary". In literature and the arts, his views were progressive.
Beautiful artwork, and a fascinating history of a large collection of English and Welsh cathedrals! The author explores not only the architecture and design of each church, but offers glimpses into the history that helped shape the countryside around them. Absolutely recommend this to anyone interested in English history, architectural styles, or even just interested in the gorgeous watercolours scattered among the text.
