When Prince Martin is captured by the Dread Pirate Kaine and his perfidious crew, the kid discovers that his only hope might come from the sea itself...If your son is a reluctant reader, the Prince Martin Epic series is a perfect fit because each book
◆ High-stakes action-adventure and danger
◆ Brilliant full-color illustrations that burst off the page
◆ Text that appears to be prose—but subtly rhymes, gently nudging the boy along as he is encouraged to find the next rhyme
This is the perfect formula for engaging boy readers.
Parents and grandparents will love this series because each tale contains a moral—without a lecture—that encourages the virtues of bravery, loyalty, grit, and compassion, which are character traits boys need to become good men. And each book in the series gets a bit longer and more epic, thus growing with the boy.

When Brandon Hale was a young boy, he lived in South America. It was a great place to be a kid, and his mom let him play outside as much as he wanted. He had a dog named Okie, a slingshot, and an awesome tree house his dad built. The tree was full of pink mangoes, jabbering parrots, and fat iguanas! When he was older, his family moved home to Oklahoma, and he began second grade. His favorite classes were Reading and History. He still got to spend a lot of time outdoors, and sometimes his uncles would take him hunting—with their falcons! His favorite tales were Treasure Island, The Swiss Family Robinson, Old Yeller, and The Hobbit.
After finishing 19 years(!) of school, Brandon went to work as a lawyer. In 2001, a very beautiful lady agreed to marry Brandon. Now they have five great kids and live on the Oklahoma plains. Regarding Prince Martin, Brandon didn’t even know he existed until he popped into his head one day! And when he had to go overseas for a long time in 2015, Brandon would tell his young son Prince Martin stories on the phone. In fact, the boy named some of the most important characters! Now Brandon wakes up real early every morning (when the house is unusually quiet) and writes about Prince Martin.
This one was okay. To be honest I fell asleep while reading it at some points, but they just may be because I've been extremely tired. I'm sure boys and adventurous girls would find the advantures of pirates, mermaid rescues and ancient beasts VERY exciting!
Last book (so far) of the Prince Martin series, that uses a semi-medieval fantasy setting to teach kids lessons about the values of courage and honesty and such. This is book 6 of the series. It's fun, but in a sing-song rhyme I personally find very annoying . . .
