A fabulous dip in book, helping to create thinkers and push our thinking deeper. Perfect for that child/young person who is always asking why! I like how it explains the difference between scientific questions and philosophical questions and how each expert would approach the question. There is just so much to chat about in the book, it is definitely one for the shelves and to be regularly dipped into.
I introduced this to some Yr6’s who love the more serious, difficult pondering questions of Would You Rather? It’s been a hit, and has for me as a reading helper provided me with more questions to ask for Would you Rather.
The book, although full of information, doesn’t appear overwhelming, is colourful and appealing to the eye. There is a good balance of text to illustrations. It doesn’t dumb down language, but does explain it really well, including the additional examples in history, or quotes from famous people.

This was a clever book. It's short enough for younger readers (tweens, and just-about-tween-age), but it also is short enough for grown readers who just want a quick read. The author goes into some pretty deep questions, some of which he is able to answer with direct information, and some where he just leaves open for speculation.

Very nice book to introduce “big” questions to children, especially moral questions like how to tell what is true and what is wrong, or is it okay to eat animals.
