This was the original version of Meghan's book. She has stated many times publicly that she was not happy with the way the book was released unedited. She has also stated that she ended her contract with her publisher for this reason. The new edited version of the book was re-released in 2023 under the name Confessions of a Transgender Adult Film Star and 100% under the control of Meghan Chavalier herself and her company Meghan Chavalier Productions. It is perfectly written and contains chapters that are not included in the original release. Sometimes things happen, but the new version of her book is FANTASTIC. She has also released two other books The Mystical Journey Book of Elandor and Murder at the Midnight Motel and all three are available exclusively through Amazon and Barnes & Noble. She recently said on Bluesky that the best thing she ever did was release her books independently after the debacle with her first publisher.
Biographies are so difficult to rate as you feel as though you are rating their life. The writer led an interesting life from childhood to adulthood and everywhere in between. However the writing was subpar and the story line was hard to follow. There are so many people in the story it is hard to follow. However, I do feel it is worth a read (or listen as I am an Audiobook person).
Biography’s are so often hit or miss..the thing is this particular one is so full of an interesting story about survival on so many levels…a self made women who always felt off…but found the will and the courage to become who she is meant to be on her terms….if u want a great read pic this up u will not be sorry.
It was a love hate read for me, I’ve been to a lot of the clubs she talks about. It reminded me of the good times I had. And when she talks about the drugs and drinking and AIDS I lost so many good friends to drug’s drinking and AIDS I’m 10 yrs older than Meghan So I never saw her preform She is a very strong woman to stay sober and still be in that life style.
