This mystery started out really good...it had great descriptions and all...but for some reason I just lost interest near the end? I am not sure if it was the writing style or something? But my interest just sort of fizzled away and then I really didn't care who the killer was?
And no I didn't guess who it was.
A lot of the story was more along the lines of making phone calls and investigating in that manner. There wasn't that much suspense. Maybe that is why my attention started to wonder? I do like a character driven story that has lots of danger and suspense - and while there was some of that in here - I don't think it was enough to keep me interested until the very end. Simply put, I didn't care. I think the main story was also getting dragged down by a side plot (which I had no interest in).
I admit I did read this incredibly fast but in the end I found it disappointing.
The cover image is good and creepy. It is what drew me to this story. But I also find the image rather confusing. Are those waves behind the house or are those clouds? Because it looks more like huge waves with white water spraying up into the air. But there is also water in front of the house too! So I am rather confused how the house can be surrounded on both sides like that by water in what is clearly a very perilous situation! And no, such a scene in not in the book but there is a small desolate rocky island.

Conspiracy of Blood, the sixth book in the gripping and tantalizing Lake Pines Mystery Series and it was spectacular. Another great whodunnit with an international component to add intrigue to the page turning twists.
Abbott writes as if she is putting a puzzle together, but the pieces only begin to fit at the very end. Awesome series and you will come to be big fans of Kerry & Simon !
