Today is Pearl’s ninth birthday, and she is planning a sea-sational day with her best friends. But when Pearl takes a shortcut on the way to merschool and sees a shooting star fall into the ocean, things begin to drift off course…
Suddenly, her mermaid tail begins to shimmer and sparkle. What could it mean? Well for a start, Pearl discovers she can now talk to animals, which comes in very handy when one of her friends is cornered by a hungry reef dragon!
It’s time for a mermazing adventure in Cockleshell Cove!
Pearl Periwinkle is so excited. It’s her birthday, and she’s going to have the best party ever. All her friends are coming. Pearl is late for school and goes via the reef only to be confronted by a reef shark. She hides on a rock until it’s safe to swim to school. Something very bright flashes close by. At school, Pearl finds a bright stone in her bag. A squabble breaks out, and it is lost. Pearl is cross with Sandy and uninvites her to the birthday party. How do Pearl and her friends sort out the mess? I enjoyed the issues the girls had to deal with and their problem-solving. The illustrations are fun and added to the story, particularly the diversity in the mermaids. Recommended for early readers 6+
Absolutely adored this book!! Read a chapter a night (sometimes two) to my 4-year-old daughter and I was so surprised with how fully captivated by and immersed in the story she was!! 🧜♀️💛 we both loved the story and the illustrations throughout are so magical and stunning.
When my daughter was 6 she ate the MerTales series up. She loved the mermaid jokes and this very cute world under the sea. These books were lovely to read together as a bedtime story.
