Mash up of travelogue and one of those weird stories a throwback narrator would spin at a village fete in 1927. The novel's set in a town that's got a number of quirks that tend to range from the improbable to the structurally impossible.
I enjoyed this a lot, partly because it's nice for a book to throw in curveballs every few pages to keep you on your toes, and partly because it's got a quaint, olde-worlde feel to it.
