Womanly Wisdom: What "they" Couldn't Tell Me

Rate this book
Things are never as they seem. People tend to judge us according to how “they” think we should be. We can become resentful of them because we do not align with their opinions of us. Who is wrong? Whom does society tend to believe? Who are “they” to be able to identify what we should be? Should their judgment of us change how we view ourselves? It did for me. Be ready to make this real, raw, revealing journey through the life of a former pastor’s wife who was searching for peace. Womanly Wisdom is a narrative of the struggles I faced as a woman “known” by society, trying to fit everyone’s mold. It also details the experiences that led me to my lowest point...not wanting to exist...and the people who helped me become the woman who can now confidently provide wise counsel based on my own experiences.

Informative, Personalized, Prolific, and Practical +Poetry - The Total Package

Melanie Johnson draws the reader into her personal experiences, but as a way to open up a conversation geared to growth. Having walked the walk, she definitely could talk the talk. This goes beyond a simple conversation, though. The author provides in depth information and personal examples about how to bring about positive changes in our lives. The reader can sift through easily and gather what applies to them. The thing is, though, you want to make sure you check everything out. There are too many gold nuggets you don't want to miss. The addition of art and poetry was a meaningful part of this book.

MelanieJohnson's Womanly Wisdom was so much more than a surviving victim's manual. It was like holding up a hand mirror and seeing your very own reflection staring back at you.

We all know a woman like Melanie. If we are not her, we know some woman in our lives with Melanie's story.

We all have a lot to say about our sister's who are struggling to co-exist in a world set-up for them to fail in. I watched my own mother survive domestic violence and abuse. Some would have a lot of unwarranted opinions about that.

Johnson took ownership of her narrative and came out not only a survivor but an advocate and champion showing other's how to champion/advocate for themselves. Johnson is my new superhero.

A bad situation in no way defines the person within it. Johnson isn't giving you a one all solution. She's giving people viable choices of how they can modify bad situations by amending their own flawed thought process.

There were many lessons to be learned. Womanly Wisdom is the self reflective mirror by which we should all use to reflect upon what kind of people we are in this world.

Are we compassionate enough? Caring enough?

5-Star Rating the courage and willingness to take on this substantial subject manner was worthy of 2 stars by itself. The grace, eloquence and maturity of displaying her own narrative absolutely netted the remaining balance. Recommend this story to everyone you know and love. I'm going to.

𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒍𝒆: Womanly Wisdom
𝑨𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓: Melanie M Johnson

𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘:
"Womanly Wisdom: What "they" Couldn't Tell Me" is the story of Melanie M Johnson. This is the story of former pastor's wife Melanie. In this book, the author has mentioned how she spent time trying to be someone that fits a mold but this made her lose herself. The author has started this book by telling the readers a lot about herself. But we shouldn't judge anyone based on the preconceived idea of them.

"When we can find peace in the middle of our storm, it confuses the enemies."

I really loved the above line from the story. Melanie has shared how she performed different roles in her life to be what others wanted her to be. But she ended up drained at the end of the day. The author has given a very important message that we should focus on what we enjoy. I have experienced this myself. When I was trying to please others, I didn't feel like myself and that made me unhappy. Be you!

'Revealing Me' poem is lovely. Writing style of the author is nice. Melanie has shared words of wisdom in this book. We may know these words of wisdom but still we try to be what others want us to be. After reading this book, I am strongly determined to focus on being myself, being real. Cover photo of the book is nice. The title of the book couldn't have been more appropriate according to its contents. Melanie's story is worth reading. Go ahead with it.

It is clear that the psychological and emotional wounds of domestic violence are devastating, but staying in an emotionally or verbally abusive relationship had long-lasting effects on Melanie, her physical and mental health, including leading to depression and anxiety. She was quite brave to share these feelings with us all. I learned a great deal, but the words made me feel her pain. Kudos to her for fighting thru

This was a very personable depiction of this survivor’s journey through domestic abuse and mental health issues to become the vibrant motivator that she was intended to be.
